Note: In Windows 7 x64, if you're experimenting an "Error, missing ilok authorization for pro Tools 10. please insert the necessary ilok and restart Pro Tools" make sure iLok drivers actually install, mine would not install over my old iLok drivers, solved it by doing this:
a) From Windows' Add or Remove Programs feature, uninstall any listing of "License Support" and "Interlok driver setup"
b) Reboot the system
c) Disconnect any iLoks connected to the system
d) Run and install Tpkdx64Setup.exe file found in the Drivers folder of the "PACE ILOK drivers installx64.zip" or the installx64.zip file linked here >> http://www.paceap.com/extensions/installers/x64/installx64.zip
It is very important that no anti-virus (especially Kaspersky) is running.
e) Restart the computer
f) Install LicenseSupportSetup64.exe file found in the Components folder of the installx64.zip file linked above. Again, make sure no anti-virus or internet monitoring software is running.
g) Restart the computer
For Windows 8 (I have not tried this but others have had success with this solution):
If you get error -9514, go to the unzipped Pro Tools installation folder, then Pro Tools Installer>ISSetupPrerequisites and install Avid Core Runtime, Avid HD Driver x64 and DigiDriver x64. Then run Pro Tools as administrator.

Laggan Pro tools 10.3.3 will not Load on win7 with the previous patch and gives an error and quits the last version to work correctly with JT patch was 10.3.2
can you share your patch 9? that will allow 10.3.3 to work

I'm glad everybody enjoyed your v.5, so thank u very much for your efforts. But when I attempted downloading the file from DepositFiles my antivirus detected a troyan TR/SPY.242688.59 in that file.
I clean installed W7 all over in order to have a clean machine for PT10 (already 10.3.2, but PT crashes a lot, and gives continuosly mem access errors).
Do you know 'bout this issue (troyan) of the file?
Is it a false positive or can you upload it again?

Definitely a false positive. Gdata reported the same trojan for me, but i have had PT 10.3.1 running for 10 weeks now, without a single crash or error !! Don't like repeating myself, but just in case you are not informed, this is the way that works for most people:

PT 10.3.0 Best.
PT 10.3.1 Works for some
PT 10.3.2 Works for some
PT 10.3.3 No.

Latest ilok driver.
VR Patch v7 beta
Just trying Patch v5 (Install after vr patch)

If you do not have Avid hardware, Asio4all must be installed.

Windows 7 sp1. (Windows 8 seems to be dodgy with most people)


If this configuration does not work, you will have to come back with a more detailed report of your problems.

2 I've a Presonus hardware which works fine so far. Do you think I should install Asio4all?

2. I don't know how you've managed to get your presonus running without asio4all, 'cause nothing else worked for my two cards (PT would not start for me without it). So I would certainly try that.

yep, my poor home-Firestudio Project Presonus works fine (so far!!), so unless I notice any misbehaviour or the audio engine I'd rather keep the Presonus drivers.
PT's initial splash screen shows the downgrade to 10.3.0 (initially was 10.3.2).. finger xed, it seems to be stab.. well better I don't even say it!!

did anyone used external effects as inserts on pro tools? if i do this the return of the effects is to early... normal it should have a latency but pro tools compensates external effects, but at mine it compensates to much, so the return of the effects are to early.

Guys... I`m gonna give a last try... if anyone has the same problem/can help...

These Pro Tools 10.3.0/10.3.2 with just_trying's v5 patch work great here. No errors, running flawlessly.
Then suddenly a complete freeze forcing me to restart the computer. Completelly random, sometimes takes 2 hours to happen, sometimes PT doesn't even finish loading. But once it happens the first time, it's always within 5-10 minutes.

It happens with either versions (haven't tried 10.3.1).

My setup:
Intel i5 750 @ 2.66gHz, 12gb ddr3 1333 RAM
Focusrite Saffire PRO40 via dedicated FW400 interface (under specs).
Windows 7 SP1, Avast Free Antivirus, nothing else running.

I've tried so many things.
-Turning antivirus off; preventing it from load during windows startup;
-Removing all plugins from plugins folder;
-using video/not using video;
-using HDMI/VGA/DVI; different monitors;
-removing different components, including RAM/leavin only one 4gb clip;
-disabling USB controllers;
-leaving PT idle; leaving PT recording 1 channel until it breaks;

What I haven't tried:
-Reinstalling Windows;
-Using a different Windows;
-Using a different computer (don't have one);
-Installing Windows in a new HD (none available)

I've considering buying the damn software, but pricing in Brazil is absurd (about 3x american price), and there's no option for buying HD in multiple months.

Please let someone else havehad the same experience and found a solution.

Sad to see you back here with the same problems as before. Reading your comment reminds me of older computer days, very frustrating.

I am one of the lucky ones, for once, and PT 10.3.1 has been running like a dream.
I had one very silly crash in 12 weeks of nearly everyday 3-4hrs. use.
On page 9 of this thread, I was helping somebody with waves (as usual) and telling them how to get the waves prefs. back up on PT startup. After I had finished trying it out myself, I decided to click the box "Don't ask/show me again" (up to this point, I had left it active , and just clicked it away everytime) After about 10 minutes, I had a total crash and everything was gone) Next time I restarted PT, I re-activated the waves prefs screen again and everything was perfect again.

I am more or less using the default setting's in PT, except: Auto-save> off and redo level down to 5.

You have tried most other things I would have tried.
If you are considering buying Pro tools, I would invest the 50$ in a 30 day trial version. (for the ilok smart key) It would be very frustrating if the same happened to you with the original software.

Another alternative would be Acronis True Image. If you made an image of your actual setup, you could then make a new windows installation, and try out 10.3.1.

Hi guys, newb here.

Please forgive me for asking these questions, but I've read through the 10.3.0 thread and this one and I still have a couple of pretty simple questions.

1; someone said that the 10.3.2 version was "mostly" 10.3.0. I don't understand what this means. The question is; Is the file that people link to here that is called "10.3.2" really that official version of the software and NOT "10.3.0"? (I just want to make sure that the version I'm downloading contains the fixes Avid did, otherwise I would use 10.3.0).

2; are all of these versions supposed to be installed as 32bit apps and not as 64bit apps in a win7x64?

I apologize if this was answered before, but I have read through more posts than I can remember and don't remember seeing it.

One last idea!

In the 90s I had a Mac that was doing pretty much the same sort of things. This went on for about a year, then I opened it up for cleaning and more or less out of pure desperation I swapped the 2 RAM modules around, putting the second in the first slot.
That was it! All problems were solved. No acceptable logic, but who cares ?

I'm not an expert at code level, but as far as I understood it, it was like this:
VR Team, who did the original release of Pro Tools HD 10.3.0 managed to take the ilok protection out of the 10.3.0 .exe and .dll. This was done using the VR Team patch v7 beta (which was uploaded in the original thread Pro Tools HD 10.3.0)
Because this version was crashing a lot, an audioz.info member (Just trying, bless his soul) worked on a new patch to make 10.3.0 more stable. By the time he had finished, Avid had released two updates 10.3.1 and 10.3.2.

JustTryings patch (v5) was based on the 10.3.0 .dll, originally released by VR, and this was the best combination: Pro Tools 10.3.0 HD + VR Team Patch v7 beta + JustTrying patch v5. However, both patches could be used on 10.3.1 or 10.3.2, without any problems.

Basically the main Pro tools .dll remains 10.3.0 which seems to be working ok with the other updated modules from Avid.

Yes the version linked here, is the original 10.3.2 file from Avid.
The installer automatically instores PT as a 32 bit app on win 7 x64, no need to worry about it,

* The version here is original 10.3.2 file from Avid,
* but the "main Pro tools .dll remains 10.3.0".

So If I understand correctly the changes made by Avid lie elsewhere and aren't affected by using the "patch" 10.3.0 .dll. Did I get that right?

Exactly !! The updates from Avid on 10.3.1 and 10.3.2 did not affect the .exe or the.dll files. Which basically means the start-up splash screen shows 10.3.0 but the programme modules are the version you have installed.

10.3.3 .exe and/or .dll were obviously modified and that's why the patches won't work with them.

thanks so much for trying to help again. that waves' thing you helped me with before, I used it to help some friends who had the same problem.

now this crash stuff.. it's eating me alive. for the past two months I've been working at my laptop (an overheating, slow as hell, loud-fan macbookpro), dying to use my much-better PC, but can't.

I'm gonna try this ram swap idea and then the image idea. I'm just gonna have to wait this batch of mixes to end, so I can have time to tinker with the PC. Thanks a lot for the input and concern, we don't get that a lot here. If I find a solution, you'll be the first to hear about it.

update: it's not Pro Tools.
I was just using Skype, when the Pro40 dropped out and the same problem occurred. So I ran Pro Tools without the Pro40, and the problem did not occur.

I think it's my Firewire interface, since the Pro40 hasn't showed a single problem on other machines.
