Note: In Windows 7 x64, if you're experimenting an "Error, missing ilok authorization for pro Tools 10. please insert the necessary ilok and restart Pro Tools" make sure iLok drivers actually install, mine would not install over my old iLok drivers, solved it by doing this:
a) From Windows' Add or Remove Programs feature, uninstall any listing of "License Support" and "Interlok driver setup"
b) Reboot the system
c) Disconnect any iLoks connected to the system
d) Run and install Tpkdx64Setup.exe file found in the Drivers folder of the "PACE ILOK drivers installx64.zip" or the installx64.zip file linked here >> http://www.paceap.com/extensions/installers/x64/installx64.zip
It is very important that no anti-virus (especially Kaspersky) is running.
e) Restart the computer
f) Install LicenseSupportSetup64.exe file found in the Components folder of the installx64.zip file linked above. Again, make sure no anti-virus or internet monitoring software is running.
g) Restart the computer
For Windows 8 (I have not tried this but others have had success with this solution):
If you get error -9514, go to the unzipped Pro Tools installation folder, then Pro Tools Installer>ISSetupPrerequisites and install Avid Core Runtime, Avid HD Driver x64 and DigiDriver x64. Then run Pro Tools as administrator.

Accel is a process card , you will need at the least a CORE card (for running the system.
and YES , tou will be able to use TDM plugins (like Waves 9r6 TDM version and others).

TDM systems are:
PTHD1 (Core) needed.
PTHD2 accel (Core card + Accel card)
PTHD3 Accel (Core card + 2Accels cards)
and ....4 , 5 , 6 (with magma chassi).

no sorry. TDM is totally hardware dependent. There is no way you would be able to do software emulation. The only way is if the developers phase TDM to aax, but then again aax isn't cracked for this. But i'm totally fine with rtas.

The Pro tools.bin is generated by the VR Patch. After you execute the VR Patch the Pro Tools.bin appears in the Pro Tools Directory (Programs (x86)\Avid\Pro Tools\) it's not there before you execute the VR Patch.




Issues with Waves 8, and 9:

I was having a lot of problems with Waves, and this solved them for me.

I have an ATI HD 4650 graphic card and there have been a lot of problems with Win 7 and cards in this HD series. Under xp i never had any problems with waves.

With Win 7, all sorts of things were happening, freezes, cpu overloads weird sounds and so on. I had to try about 5 different drivers out before I found one that worked ok.
Now I am running the catalyst verrsion 11.9 (which also works well under xp x86/x64) and that solved a lot of problems, but not all.

The most important thing with waves 8, 9 are the regional settings. If you have a none english version of windows, these settings have to be made.

Regional and Language options. Under Region Options, customize button,
then set the following.


Decimal symbol: . (dot)
Digit grouping symbol: , (comma)
List separator: , (comma)
Negative number format: -1.1

This did it for me. Now all the plugins I've tried up to now are working. (RTAS and VST through FX Wrapper)

Anyway, I finally uninstalled the v 10.3.2 and reinstalled the v10.3.0 so I could follow exactly the instructions.
For your Graphic card problem, I have an HD 5770 from Asus, I know what you mean, had many problems with Asus drivers, but now ATI drivers are working better and all problems I had are gone, including with hi graphic loading games. I am using Catlyst V. 12.10 .. hope that help ..

First load of Kontakt provoked a crash, but now it is working perfectly
GForce Odity don t work
All other RTAS Instruments tried are working

I found incredible that when Pro Tools crashes you have to restart your computer to open it again... In a professional session this have a great cost.

have_a_cigar's answer is correct........this is a known issue with Waves 8/9 while "shivering me timbers" on many audio forums!

Though, I've never had a problem in French.........!

But why everyone talk of reboot? Like Olymoon. I tried old version and crash, but never reboot. Just start TaskManager (crtl-shift-esc), go Processes, choose Protools and End Process Tree and start again dance

Thanks Justrying, thanks for the effort. Im gonna try v.5 I just got a little confused about how to install. Do I just have to install the patch, and thats it? And what about the ProTools.bin? Do I have to rename it manually? And rename it to what? Doesnt the patch do that?

just remove ProTools.dll, then copy ProTools.bin to ProTools.dll, then run VR7, followed by JTv5.

Did you meant "rename" instead of "copy"

And I dont know why, but I cant find ProTools.bin :S
If by any chance I deleted it accidentally, what should I do???

1: Install Pro Tools 10.3.0 (Don't forget to install i-lok first, and asio4all if you need it)

2: Go to: programs x86\Avid\Pro Tools\ find ProTools.exe and ProTools.dll and make a copy of them both, this is usually handy for a later date.

3: Copy vr beta 7 patch to: programs x86\Avid\ProTools\ and execute it.

The patch modifies the ProTools.exe and the ProTools.dll files and also creates the ProTools.bin file.

4: Copy JustTrying v5 patch to same directory as above, and execute it !

Start Pro Tools.

General hint: If Pro tools doesn't start, delete the Pro tools preference file (Pro Tools Prefs.ptp) at:

C:\Documents and settings\Administrator\Appdata\Roaming\Avid\ProTools\Pro Tools Prefs.ptp

General hint 2: If Pro tools can't find your soundcard, press letter "n" during start up
procedure, to enter the sound setup menu.

Thanks have_a_cigar for the help. But I didnt wanted to re-install Pro Tools, so I tried this: I did the A6 to C3 modification myself with hex editor, so I reverted back to A6 to leave it as it was originally. Then applied TeamVR V7patch, and then justrying v5 patch.

I dont know if this was the correct thing to do, but Ive been testing it, and so far, so good. But if you think that it is better to re-install again, Ill do it.

thanks for the replies.

The problems were, from, initial parameter values being all crazy (like -1000:1 compression rate), to complete system crash (having to resort to a reboot).
This was corrected with the localization changes suggested by have_a_cigar - thanks!

Also, when instantiating most plugins, the channel would be rendered silent, and inactivating/activating the plugin produced a loud pop.

I can't test if the localization corrected the other problems because I'm on a deadline. Will test it tomorrow though.
