WindScribe + AudioZ = the Best VPN Service screenshot
Good news to those of you who chose to use VPN to download, or to protect your internet-privacy: I was able to negotiate a special deal for all members of AudioZ with one of the industry leaders - WindScribe VPN.

* Before, i was using SpyOFF, but for the last few months i became unhappy with the speed of their servers and overall lack of news or updates.
I've asked around and found WindScribe which i instantly fall in love with.

I'm not a huge specialist in this - i have only few simple requirements, which not many services are able to meet though:
  1. I need it to be simple - I don't have time nor resources to familiarize myself with loads of settings;
  2. I don't want to pay a lot for it - I don't use VPN all the time and it's not something i want to pay more than i do for the internet itself;
  3. I want to be able to connect through different servers, from different countries - since some content sometimes only available for specific countries;
  4. I want to easily connect and disconnect to VPN when i choose to.
  5. VPN Provider should not spy on me.

and on this single screenshot, you can practically see it all:

WindScribe + AudioZ = the Best VPN Service screenshot
- WindScribe is available on any device - PC, Mac, iOS, Android, Blackberry; they even have special configs for your router;
- no traffic limits;
- special browser add-ons that not only make you secure, but also block ads;
- their software is awesome and IT WORKS!

but the best part is that you don't even have to pay for it WindScribe gives you 10GB absolutely free, which is more than enough for browsing;

and if you need more traffic, as a member of AudioZ you get a special, enormous 50% discount!!!

no more talking. just try it for yourself

Thanks for the info!
Have you found it slows things down appreciably?
  Administrator 1.01.2004 269 995

of course it will slow down your original connection and also the ping - any VPN will
that's why it is so important to me to be able to quickly disable it, for example, when i need to download something big. but at least with WindScribe we have a huge list of servers - for best speed you need to choose those closer to your location

May I ask you what bandwidth do you have?

I have 120 MBit/s and most VPNs don't slow me down because their bandwidths are usually higher than mine. The only thing that get's worse with a VPN for me is the latency.

I have 100Mbits and yes, latency is the biggest problem, but of course it depends on the server location, current server load and other factors, so generally i'd say that VPN does slows you down, at least for downloads.

I want to try it, but as I don't know anything about this kind of stuff, I'd like to ask if there is some of list of countries where this VPM operates.

you can use this VPN in any country on any device, but i think that's not what you're trying to ask - as you can see on the screenshot, WindScribe has private servers in 45+ countries.

Hmm, I don't know really.
One of the important advantages for VPN for me is to have open ports on my destination IP address so I can run daemons/server apps from inside a closed private network. In that case VPN acts as a sort of security measure, but also gives user extra open ports for internet services.

Not sure if SpyOFF offers public IPv4, they don't say so on their Features page.

Also the use of their software slightly puts me off. My current VPN solution works cross-platform with OpenVPN and PPTP - no need for dedicated software package.
Thank you for helping us help you help us all.

i won't be able to reply most of those technical questions, but from what i understand, their software is based on OpenVPN and you can also select preferable protocol in settings:

but of course, if you managed to set up OpenVPN, i'd just settle with that

Thank you for your reply, SAiNT.
Even if the connection was done through OpenVPN, users running different OS would be still quite limited as the SpyOFF client is available only for Windows, which means it wouldn't be possible to pick servers on Linux, Solaris or MacOS.
Maybe they fixed it with web interface and rerouting one's connection to appropriate server based on account settings.

IPredator
Has servers in Sweden only, but costs €6/month.
You'll get IPv4 public IP and unlimited bandwidth.
Only one connection per user allowed though.

You can run dyndns on top and assign a domain of your choice. Though the IP changes next time you connect.

Runs on OpenVPN and PPTP, cross-platform.

IPredator is backed up by TPB and has a political immunity granted by Swedish pirate party.
As for reliability, it's not really 100%, sometimes there are slowdowns, etc.
Thank you for helping us help you help us all.

i used iPredator. don't know how they operate now, but back then they required Viscosity to work on Win, and it's not freeware.

I'm using IPredator since 2010 and Viscosity was never a requirement. You can use built-in Microsoft VPN Client for AES-128 protection through PPTP, or OpenVPN for full 256bit encryption.
They do provide manuals for Viscosity, but the connection works even through freeware means.

interesting. i won't argue on this, but somehow i hold a memory that i couldn't use it without Viscosity. or maybe that's how i tried to reach my original requirements which i described in the post

Tbh I wouldn't use a german VPN, if it really is. Our government just re-enabled data preservation and is really fond of licking the USA's ass. Also, this provider has bought himself into many german scene sites, which is not really a sign of quality for me... Please SAiNT, I respect every decision you make, but at least tell us if this is a cooperation you get paid for.

they do have a referral program, but why would that matter to you?
i use WindScribe myself and with the current situation when government can block all they want and spy on you, VPN is something that i want my members be familiar with.
  Resident 8.06.2011 23

It would matter because they bought themselves into many different scene sites, and if a company is in need of measures like this, I usually get the feeling they can't convince people with their service alone. If, however, this really is a true personal recommendation AND you've managed to negotiate a discount for your members, that is of course nice!

i don't know how they promote their service, but i haven't seen any other web-site advertising them yet it wouldn't be a bad idea though, so i still don't understand why any of this would matter to you. the service is good, that's all what matters

Thank you Saint! I think it is great that you can get some well earned bucks while we get a discount.

So how does one know they got the 25% discount? When I click on the link, it just takes me to the regular spyoff.com/checkout page. It doesn't say coupon or promo code added, or anything like that. Just looks like a regular sign up page.
