I have tried so many variations that I can't remember which one's I used but I think when I tried that combo I got errors but I could just click out of them. You are saying you got absolutely no pop ups at all?

Anonymous did tell us that he was going to delete all of his old posts and leave his latest one and not to think that it was an admin who did it. I remember one of his comments saying that so Im pretty sure he deleted them himself.

For those of you unfamiliar with hex editing, I just put a tiny little patch file that just changes that one offset to remove the timebomb MF: error from the file ProTools.dll here: http://depositfiles.com/files/0qjla6cbu - to be run right after Team VR's patch for 10.3.0, in the ProTools directory.

...is this the same patch anonymous has been using? if so, do know it tends to crash anything above 10.3.0, and maybe even crash 10.3.0 itself because of those 3 other changed values, just sayin.......

Are we sure this is the best way to go (10.3.2)? Seems that JustTrying (who knows a lot more about this stuff than me) was leaning us away from that because of the mis-matches between the different versions/.dll files?

Yeah, I've been following the way JustTrying has been doin it, and it's really the only absolute stable way. I've tried anonymous tricks and whatnot, props to him helping but his patch is really unstable on 10.3.2, let alone 10.3.0.

And they pretty much just copied off JustTrying, but he's really the only one who knows what's happening so what I would say is if you want to have a stable ProTools, stick with 10.3.0, the VR patch and that one single address change only, it's been working for me for days now.

The access violation pop up occurs but you just click through it and Pro Tools is fine, and it doesn't even pop up that often.

yeah , just try. i had audio dropouts with 10.3.0 si i went back to the latest.
no crash. i'm doing basic stuff though, only audio, no midi so cant comment on that.
but with only audio, stable it is.

What we know - the story so far:

1) Team VR patched ProTools.exe (10.3.0) to remove the "you need an iLok" warning. So this is needed. As Anonymous correctly says, it sets up the environment for the ACTUAL ProTools app, which is in ProTools.dll. When it says "starting ProTools," it means "Starting ProTools.dll..."

2) Team VR patched ProTools.dll (10.3.0) removing more iLok checks. They could do this by cleverly having the program check itself for consistency through an external copy of the original unpatched DLL, called ProTools.bin. These patches are needed, too. Team VR's patch dumps three files where you tell it to: it overwrites ProTools.exe and ProTools.dll, and adds ProTools.bin. They did not patch the timebomb MF: message that quits the thing.

3) I indicated how to do that. Interestingly enough, it seems that Team VR had the same idea in their infamous beta 8 patch nobody has seen yet, as they describe the same result: a message that can be clicked away. Anyway, this makes the program functional beyond 5 minutes.

4) The extra addresses that Anonymous says he patched are in places that will never even be executed, so they can be disregarded (see an earlier posting for an explanation). They are harmless in themselves.

5) Whatever version of DLL people are using, they are based on the above, and are only stable for 10.3.0. Some have been able to use them on 10.3.2. Most have had terrible crashes through them. The DLL's are compiled for 10.3.0, so using them with another version is asking for trouble.

My sentiments exactly! Again, my hat is off to Anonymous for all of his work, to mukundas for the patch and of course JustTrying the BIG offset discovery! It just seems like the mix and match .exe and .dll files would be problematic. Seems like sticking with 10.3.0 and that single offset is the way to go even though some have had good luck with 10.3.2.....just lucky I guess! wink

Exactly why you aren't getting any problems and crashes with 10.3.2, you haven't explored Pro Tools enough to actually show that it's quite unstable.

I remember reading somewhere that "zetas" from Team VR (if it really was him) stated that following the leak of the beta 7 patch, the coding in 10.3.1 was changed inferring that the 10.3.1 crack would have to be done over.

Correct, posted by him in Audionews, perhaps angered by the leak of the patch.

Yet all is due to VR staff and all of Audioz that are present here since the beginning of this journey.

Now working in AXX.

first post here
-installed 10,3,0
-instaled patch beta 7
it worked for 5 hours- mf error.
tested buffers: 1024 works
512 works
256 works
128 works
64 CRASH
tested with demo session that comes with installation, tested with my recordings.
every thing works ok (tracks,auxes,vca, masters, busses )
autobackup was on.
only problem with waves v7 (CLA didnt work )
I did not test midi, vst instruments.

my sistem :
win 7 32
profire 2626
asrock motherboard
intel core2duo e7400 2,8
2 gig ram
seatgate baracuda 7400 ( i think dunno )
protools installed on sistem particion

only the mf error after 5 hours of work...
any recomendations for mf error ?

Binber and Popeye thanks for the help, what was weird is that before the patched dll, when the problem was MF error, I never had a freeze, at that time I was using a 256 asio buffer size, and a cpu limit of 95%, after I put the patched dll, I started using a 1024 buffer size, and then the freezes started. Still Ill try your suggestions.

And thanks to JustTrying, I will use your dll to see if I get a better result
