Yeah that's what I was just thinking, same with Video Satellite (Media Composer workflow), but usually I'll just use a proxy from Media Composer then edit audio instead, I dont think venue or satellite is something I need, or the MAJORITY needs.

Someone could probably try that but if they do get crashes, it'll probably be related to their system specs and not the patch.

Finally I made it work. 10.3.0 + VR patch + modded dll. Here's how I made it work (for those of us not familiar with hex mods):

1. Install fresh 10.3.0 and virtual instruments from Avid.
2. Download updated Interlok drivers from www.paceap.com (I had an issue with a missing file: ptkd.sys).
3. Apply Team V.R.'s patch and restart.
4. Use HxD hex editor and do the mod (explained below)

Voila. I've been running the demo session and sessions of my own with sends, returns, VCAs, Kontakt 5, Waves 9.1, and full automation. In over 3 hours no hassles. I had the access violation message twice in over 3 hours, but I clicked them away without any problem.

How to edit ProTools.dll

For people like me, with zero experience doing hex editing, it took me a while to get around to it, so here I'm sharing the experience so anyone else can do it. It is safe and simple.

1. Download HxD (freebie hex editor). http://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/
2. Install and run the program as administrator, otherwise it won't allow changes to the dll. Browse for ProTools.dll (c:/Program Files (x86)/Avid/Pro Tools. See image: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/401/01open.png/
3. Set up the options in the program as in the picture and scroll down until the line indicated: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/441/01scroll.png/ Once there, apply the change revealed by JustTrying from A6 to C3. It's very clear in the picture.

Close HxD, clean your registry with a utility (I use TuneUp), and that's it. No need to download any other dlls or mess around with your system. This is the method that has been proven to work the most stable so far.

Thanks to all of you guys who made this possible, JustTrying for the revelation, GonBi who put it up, Team V.R. and all of you who didn't give up and kept trying, Team AudioZ. Now it's time to go back to making music.

Hello, first of all, amazing what this forum is a great community!
I have some problems.
where more errors I have is when I enlarge or narrowed audio events, using F4 and F2, until at one point pro toos closes after throwing several errors.
1 / Pro Tools 7 + 10.3.0 + Patch ProTools.dll firt mod (the most stable, but Beat Detective, detects bad selecction capture and zoom alguinos problems, you can still work)
2 / Pro Tools 10.3.2 + Patch 9 or archive mods Anonymous (Beat Detective works!! But I have more errors.

The problem surely is that we are using version 10.3.0 of always; patch 7

Mixing is much more stable!
  cuadno maybe somehow modify the 10.3.2 version of ProTools.exe / dll / bin we are completely happy!

10.3.0 is flawless with the new patch, i havent had a mf error yet and im running plenty of plugins on windows 64, with 4 gigs of ram,,,nice job guys.....

Update: Apparently Beat Detective works well. I'd need to test some more. However, Strip Slience causes lots of access violations. Clicking them away causes no trouble. No problems with Digi 002.

With the iMac not a flaw so far. I have just discovered a flaw: When you start a send or an output to a new track, the I/O is not routed automatically by default. In PT 9 you send a bus to a new track and the in/out busses are assigned and renamed according to the track you create.

diegac4: Re-sizing track height is good as usual. Beat Detective is ok.

Beat detective and strip silence work 100% for me on 10.3.0, vr patch plus justtryings address change.

at this point it's probably a problem with your system or protools. itself, not the patch. try changing your emgine settings rtc.

Yes, actually. My bad, wrong spelling. It's 6A you change. In my pic the change is already performed. Please, give it a shot. I chose the program to download and illustrated it because the command originally posted by JustTrying didn't appear like that in my Hex editor. I had to do some frustrating browsing until I figured it out. Let us know if it works for you. I'm running flawless now, more than 6 hours of running sessions of about 40 tracks with intensive plugins and all.

BTW, I tried Asio4All, Digi002, and Focusrite VRM Box with success. In the Core2Duo I had one processor for PT at 99% and one for the system. In the Core i7, 7 processors for PT and one for the system. Buffer for both PCs is 1024.

I dont understand, when you guys talk about the AAX plugins, are you talking about the AAX plugins it COMES with? or the aax plugins like TL Reverb the ones that you have to buy on Avid? Because the AAX plugins that comes with the ProTools installer (Channel strip, sansamp, etc.) are working for me. And to test it, I changed the skin of the Channel Strip from the aax resources folder and it was changed when I opened pro tools to what i changed it too. I am confused.

Yes, the included AAX plugs work fine but it's noted in VR's nfo that cracked AAX plugs will not work. According to JustTrying, the AAX plugs may be really tough to crack. Hope it can be done cuz I think by PT 11 RTAS will be gone.

i'm on w7/x86/4gram/512nvidia laptop.

10.3.0-> orinal vr patch/justtrying' little mod /restart system is the most stable up to date.

Ok finally got around to 10.3...VR patch.....JustTrying .dll.

All works as expected. I did notice that using Strip Silence really plays havoc with the access violation error. Every move of the Strip Silence slider will set it off. Still pleased with what I have though. wink

Everything you need is in this thread and it's not a big secret. Using the 10.3 installer and the Beta 7 patch from Team VR (this was all the original post here by Gonbi) and then replace the protools.dll file with the one created by JustTrying and uploaded by Hindustani here: http://ul.to/b4y1vwrr

It's that simple. There have been other patches and .dlls but this is the most stable. If you want to work with this to try to get rid of the nagging access violation errors then that would be great...or work on the AAX issue, even better. Otherwise I don't see a huge advantage to a new patch other than saving a step.

Really if anyone wanted to create a "where we are now" patch in the way TeamVR's worked, they would only need their "patch", run it in an empty folder, and change the one byte as indicated earlier (using my little patcher if Hex editing wasn't an option). Then wrap 'em up and make a similar dumper. But a REAL patch would actually first copy the ProTools.dll to a file named ProTools.bin, and then patch the one byte in the ProTools.exe (VR) and the few bytes in ProTools.dll (all but one byte VR's work). If written properly it should not be bigger than at most 100Kb, and would take care of everything on top of the actual 10.3.0.

Obviously, navid811 is too lazy to read the previous messages, as it all is really simple: install as originally instructed on page 1, then apply tiny patch to change one byte to fix the timebomb matter...
