People here who don't like pro tools never worked with it....i spent a little fortune buying many daw, Cubase, Logic, DP, later Reaper. For simple and robust audio editing pro tools is much better than any other else. I just say that out of my long experience. If you masturbate with bit depths or features i may agree that pro tools is an old concept, but if you rely on your workflow to get a life (which is not the case of many here) you will find why pro tools is still a standard. This is just to say that i am happy that my students on PC can now try it out for free and i can start to use PT to teach! good work...

Lost my MBR twice with this...I'm leaving it alone. Had to do DOS style recover to get it back.

ve just installed the full installation and the patch ... than I installed quick time player , and the iLOCK SOFTWAR ...
I don't have lock ... and don't have Avid Hardware ...
when loading PT10 for the first time it scan my plugins , and when it get's to the DAE loading stage, a massage appear's : "...unable to locate hardware. make sure your hardware is connected and turned on. click 'ok' when the hardware is ready..."
that mean that it looks for Avid card , I thought it would work without AVID hardware ...
please some one help ....did somebody got it working already without Avid's hardware ?

You don't need Avid Hardware........Download in install Asio4All

Hold down the "N" key when starting Pro Tools until the Audio device menu appears.......then select "Asio4All" driver from the drop-down menu.

**Please Note: With Asio4All driver you will probably need to choose "1024" sample rate.

If necessary, reboot Pro Tools!

oh man looking at all the people that have problems with this release i better wait :)

This works sweet up until about 10 minutes after startup[ where i get he message,
"MF: application has been compromised"
then it freezes. It loaded all my RTAS plugins and even my complete projects made with Pro Tools 7.4cs3 with no problem.
It's just that error that keeps happening and i don't know how to stop it. Hopefully someone will fix this because i've had a taste now and i want to keep it :)

The .dll your mentioning is part of Microsoft Visual runtime 2005 and is also present in DirectX 9.0b you should download and install both then try again.

I got exactly the same problem as @FilGee
It keeps popping up randomly and it freezes Pro Tools and I've googled it and got no results.

Is there any hope for this problem to be solved?

I'm running this on Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
And i've found that if you run it in Compatability mode for "Windows 7" the MF error does'nt happen. I've been recording and editing with this for over an hour now and it seems to be functioning fine. I also blocked any attempt to connect to the internet using my firewall. Make sure that you install the "Microsoft Visual C++ 2005" that's part of the installation and don't cancell out of it even if you already have it installed.
So far so good here.

I have a "M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 with MIDI" Soundcard in my system and i'm using AP 2496 as the main playback engine. ASIO4ALL does show up in the list and the Generic ASIO driver that's installed along with Cubase but i hav'nt tried using them yet.
Here's my settings incase it heps anyone out...

AP 2496
H/W Buffer Size - 512 Samples
Host Processors - 4 Processors
CPU Usage Limit - 95%
Host Engine - Ignore Errors During Playback/Record - Ticked
Minimize Additional I/O latency - Ticked
Delay Compensation Engine - None
Disk Playback cache size - 512mb

Like i said all seems to be working OK with these settings no error messages for over an hour working with this now.

One more thing...

If you have your browser or Media Player open BEFORE opening Pro Tools 10 HD then you'll get an MF error but if you open Pro Tools 10 HD THEN open your browser it's fine.

I think that this is because of PT and other applications using the same audio device.
so PT throws up an error message because it does'nt have exclusive access to the audio hardware or something like that.

Well it looks like Team VR still has some work to do for a solid crack of PT10.3. They seem to be pretty much at the same point we Mac users were at with the Mac PT 9.01 - 9.03 cracks that were available over a year ago, then all cracking just ended on it. Like I said previously in this thread, PT utilizes a pretty sophisticated protection scheme! Be interesting to see if Team VR hangs in there to finally defeat this protection once and for all! Of course, PT v11 (64bit) is on the horizon and then it'll start all over again! However, with v11's arrival it will also require that the AAX protection also be defeated!

Maybe you should try it on Win7 instead of Win8 (which your screenshot looks like...hehe) or try a Win7 compatibility mode in Win8.

These are just some steps u canTry!.I have tried alot of solutions on getting rid of dae errors one by one im using windows 8 but this may help some who are having problems running correctly

1.Do not install anything yet get Pro Tools 10.3 Installer (Win) from here

2.Make sure to have latest ilok drivers here:
www.ilok.com/download-ilok-software.html .You may have to restart after installing.

3.Make sure graphics drivers are up to date.You may have to restart after installing.

4.Make sure sound card drivers are up to date or use aiso4all from here:
http://www.asio4all.com/ i used beta version.

5.Make sure all your hard drives names are short less than 11 characters.

6.Now install all of the above except Pro Tools 10.3 Installer (Win)

7.Open up Cmd go to start choose run type in cmd or right click on start (win choose cmd as admin in the Command prompt , type
bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff and press Enter.You should see operation successful

Enable DEP this is what dev suggests
In the strong>Command prompt , type
bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx Optln and press Enter.You should see operation successful.

Note: I choose always off.If off dosent work choose bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOn and press Enter.

Restart cpu after doing either of these

8.Now unzip Pro Tools 10.3 Installer (Win) choose extract here using winrar.Once extracted you should have a protools folder with setup in it.Instead of using this
go to view at the top (win choose options.To the right of that select view tab. Under advanced settings choose show hidden files and folders and drives.Click apply then ok.

9.Now u will have a folder that says Pro Tools Installer double click open the folder there are 2 files here.(Setup.exe and Avid protools.exe) right click setup first.Choose properties >compatibility >Check the box run this program for windows 7.Then check run as admin at the bottom.Click apply then ok.Now do the same for Avid protools.exe execpt it says run this for previous version of windows.There is no admin option here as its greyed out.

10.Now install using Avid protools.exe,Once done u should have protools HD10 on your desktop right click choose properties>compatibility tab,make sure it says run as admin at the
bottom.

11.Now apply team vr patch which is here:http://forum.audionews.org/viewtopic.php?t=119117
Make sure u run the patch as admin as well.

Troubleshooting steps if none of the above work:

Read the manual!

Protools fails to launch Dae error 13001 once started.Run as admin this is no longer a problem

Hold N key while launching protools for cache prompt raise or lower there..Dae error 9514

Hold shift key down launching protools brings up waves prompt if having problems with waves disable,enable etc.

MF : application has been compromised.Using these steps above this is no longer a problem

If freezes when scanning plugins from Native Instruments (Kontakt 5, Guitar Rig etc)
Using these steps above this is no longer a problem.

Probably because Win 8 comes out next month and will be the new OS for PC's.

It's been tested and works on Win 8 without a hitch...........Russ did a video on Pro Tools Experts Website!

Yo peeps. 9514 under Win8 solved. As I understood there's a bug in installer (or some kind of protection in win) which prevents to install some of the required components. I remember that I was asked to install digidesign network driver or something while installing it under Win7. So I just opened ISSetupPrerequisites folder and install Core Runtime, HD driver and Digidriver. After reboot it started to work like a charm.

For all of you to know I was the one most critical of Windows 7 , In fact many things in it made me stay with XP SP3, A lot of problems were in it, especially the Services Management.

One of the critical changes in Windows 8 THANK GOD!! Is a total new services management
which is like the mods I was running in XP

I am reporting that I love Windows 8 and I am critical here of WIndows 7 since it was tedious to tweek on the services part( but not as bad as Vista). Windows 8 is now running half the default services that Windows 7 runs.

I am booting around 7-8 seconds on this AMD triple core MSI laptop with a regular sata drive
So in saying that I have began to make preparations to install Windows 8 on all my Audio systems. I have been running the Betas for almost 2 years now, earlier betas had some problems. Now everything is running very smoothly

Windows 8 can also be tweeked yet for more power and it will not complain, even though the default install uses less services and services are invoked instead of always on!!!!
I applied some of my mods and no issues

Excellent. Since I run bblean on windows 8 ( works flawless) I have no issues with the Metro UI as I use it sometimes but really is not necessary, as there is power8shell and others out there already to get the classic start menu.

Anyways Windows 8 is for me and what MS has done to the task manager it's like they made it for me !!!! muhahaha finally


Really excited about the release date. So XP is finally being Retired

By the way all apps work that ran on windows 7 and even all my apps from windows XP

the only issue I found so far is MIDIYOKE will not install in windows 8, but I am using Midiloop no so no problems now.

I can see a huge improvement, I have XP SP3 and WIndows 8 dual booted here on this Laptop and the difference is massive.

For the people who wanted Windows to be more manually controlled your prayers have been answered!!!

And finally you now have the ribbon on your opened windows so no more opening menus relevant to the folders, one click and all your options are shown for me this is one of the most usefull features in windows 8!!!!
