Funny thing, but only now i have realized that the site is practically empty.

we can definitely forget about MU and FileServe; FileSonic might come back in a few days, but still most of the posts and mirrors are dead.

this leads to a good question: wtf do we do now? :o))

i don't want to make a mess with mirrors and other stuff... after all about 20% of posts was dead anyway.

so it seems to me that the best thing to do is to start with a clean sheet.
some stuff will be lost forever, but most of it, i am sure, will be reuploaded in a month or so.

please vote in the poll.
i especially want to read our contributor's opinion.

UPD: unfortunately, i still do not have complete solution to this problem... neither my acquaintance who run much bigger web-sites.
although i can share some news with you:
1. lots of changes are coming; AudioZ will become much more secure, rules for uploaders will be very strict.
2. i'm working hard to make our small community better; my programmers almost finished service which will help us to keep posts alive longer and cause less problems to the site.
3. soon we'll have our own server for images, therefore uploaders won't have to use unstable Picture Hosters to share screenshots.
4. soon AudioZ will be moved to a new VDServer, which will grant you faster and more stable access.
5. old posts will not be removed, but i'll make it the way they won't bother you

I'm not sure if torrents are the future, as some people are saying, just use non-US sites, and increase the security of uploads, usual password/ encryption methods. problem solved (partially!) yes things will settle, I have no concern

I do agree with the try b4 u buy ethic, I see no reason not to buy my DAW because I used it all the time, but to be absolutely honest, there are still a few sample packs and pieces of software that I will not buy, probably ever, most of it I delete but not all, and I know there a lot of people who follow suit. eg I have Kontakt, and I would like to buy Komplete 8, but I have dozens of libraries that will not work with a legit copy of Kontakt (or so I was told) not sure what to do with this problem! dunno
Keep it simple

Why in gods name are people panicking how the situation looks right now. When something grows to fast/big it's a natural selection to decimate and start all over. This is a part of Evolution and I dont think ANY goverment can truly stop or control the internet in the way they see fit.

History has proven time and time again that peoples ingenuity and spirit is by far the strongest force on this planet.

"The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few"

Enough of my trolling.

BBS->First Class->FTP->P2P->Lazy Links-> ?

Cheers!!!

considering ACTA was passed into US law months ago, and now 22+ countries have signed it in to law, I think everyone should chill the fuck out and wait to see what happens.

this could take a while, as it ACTA empowers those above ABOVE government. various countries already say there is nothing they can do about it now...

How about creating an AudioZ hosting service? It will be only for members here, and it will be founded from donations.

It's not too expensive to buy a server (not in the US...), running some "upload/download" script with only users from here have access too, and bandwidth.

They have hosting services of 10$/month unlimited bandwidth+space...

server prices for good server (no error just because of too many clicks at the same time) is really expensive.

@ SAiNT

I have a good example, why you shouldn't delete all old posts.

Today I installed the 1.1 update for Abbey Road 60s Drums, and it fucked up my wallpaper and the whole GUI. After deinstallation of the update, I could not load the library anymore.

I found the solution for that problem here at AudioZ, when I read through the comments under the release. Several other people had the same problem, and somebody provided a solution, which also helped me.

so maybe have 2 sections, one with no links to the files but with informations and coments, and another section for the new audioz releases ?

I'm sorry about the delay to be a member I use audioz from years ago and it's the best, I think the best thing to do its start from zero and use better servers like rapishare, mediafire and one server that allow multiple downloads without premium account and its called Jumbofiles, this is only my opinion, the good thing of rapidshare is that the main server is stablished in Switzerland and in this country haven't got any absurd laws like SOPA,PIPA,...

Hey GANG, There is the MEGA Alternative, which i think you guys should start to turn to now....

Does Anyone Here know Of DC ++ ? (Direct Connect) - ill draw some information from Wikipedia as its a bit hard to explain if you have not used it.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
@@@@@@@@@@@
Direct connect is a peer-to-peer file sharing protocol. Direct connect clients connect to a central hub and can download files directly from one another. Advanced Direct Connect can be considered a successor protocol.

Hubs feature a list of clients or users connected to them. Users can search for files and download them from other clients, as well as chat with other users.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
@@@@@@@@@@@@

The best part is - we can have our OWN Hub! and you cannot connect to it without a password and user name. So no1 can come and go as they please....

if people are abusing the site.. you can IP ban them straight away or redirect them to another site,

you do need someone to "host" the hub and there comp would have to be on 24.7

if anyone here is familiar with what i'm talkin about please speak out.

_i am, not a bad suggestion. i've used it many years back. but, he will be held responsible doe to a "hosting" thing. someone has to have those files. dc(++) is a great idea for people who use "strictly legal" stuff. Hosting that kind of material on you own machine is "trouble", imo:(
plus the tech is not being used for a while now, that alone poses a security risk. Correct me if i am wrong, but torrent killed it in it's roots. Also similar attempts were made to shut dc if you recall. That is how torrents came to be i think as a response to that. Maybe I am wrong, don't know for sure:) plus if you all remember that "all file sharing techs" were eventually destroyed shareaza, gnutella, gnutella2, limewire,..... torrents are on constant attack from greedy assholes and nwo sickfucks:( ftp and sftp are still standing:) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FTPS, there are shitload of encryption (read like, japanese and chinese monster supercomps whould have a problems cracking that shit) for that stuff. it is secure, more secure then average filesharing sites, but everything made can be destroyed eventually,....:(

_@SAiNT

_have you tried with a private secure ftp site, or depending on bandwidth you got you could say limit to a ~50-100kb/s for smaller stuff to let say~100mb. >100kb/s for some larger stuff.
_don't know if it helps. Are your servers on CentOS? If it is it's good and secure env. you could easely setup ftp from there or, if you want even more secure env. and even more stable Debian 6.0.4 or "Wheezy" testing or SELinux.

One thing to consider, maybe talk to the administrators of other forums you belong and see how they are tackling the problem. I don't know much about torrenting trackers, but that is always an option as well as newsgroups. Perhaps a solution has already been offered by another sharing forum site.

fwiw, and I've not read everyone's replies, hotfile stil seems to be working

@ralzy72: I posted up some nexus libraries, and nexus2 in the past, encrypted and pass protected the .rars and made the requirement to get to get the password in the first 2 weeks the links were up, that users must have contributed to the site. Saint msged me indicating his support for the idea. Apart from that, I was roundly crucified for it.
I clearly support the idea, but it's not a popular one.

I am not sure whether it would be a good idea to start from scratch completely. There are so many informations here about the releases and as someone else posted about installation probs and, and, and ... may be a solution to install a subdomain and let the "old thing" there, for documentation and for to look what have been lost and may be possible to repost. In the past many posts helped me to solve problems. It would be a shame to loose all this precious information that have been posted over the years. Or?

I would agree to let google out here. It's not a must that google can follow all posts and links. And I also agree that new members should make a "test" to verify they are "clean". Otherwise we could get in trouble as fast as Kim "kimble" Schmitz. And .. HE has the money to pay for Attorneys. I think most of us will not have money, otherwise we all could buy the progs posted here. We will become the real loosers in this game :-(

djdissent,
Saint msged me indicating his support for the idea. Apart from that, I was roundly crucified for it.

That's not the best idea. Audioz is not the only audiowarez site, all the soft will appear on other well known sites as well as soon s.o. downloads it here. I guess we all now those sites, dont't we?

I know sites which follow your principle (for example globalnoises), but as for me I let no one force me to contribute whatsoever. And who decides which is a valid contribution anyway?

boeserAbdul,
Saint could also pack an archive, generated by a website grabber. So everyone could browse the old stuff on his/her own harddrive.

SERIOUSLY! I cant understand why the hell uploaders dont use mediafire, best host ever damn it! so fast! they dont pay back? well use that like protection you know the one that makes you earn everytime someone open the link (i guess is the way it work)

Although I voted for site reset earlier but on the second thought now I also feel that old data should be kept for documentation n info etc. as so many others said. Im right now actually struggling for a password for an update I downloaded and its nowhere to be found.

mediafire has the server in us and also the office - then the uploaders can not earn money from their uploads - this tells it all - got it?!
