Funny thing, but only now i have realized that the site is practically empty.

we can definitely forget about MU and FileServe; FileSonic might come back in a few days, but still most of the posts and mirrors are dead.

this leads to a good question: wtf do we do now? :o))

i don't want to make a mess with mirrors and other stuff... after all about 20% of posts was dead anyway.

so it seems to me that the best thing to do is to start with a clean sheet.
some stuff will be lost forever, but most of it, i am sure, will be reuploaded in a month or so.

please vote in the poll.
i especially want to read our contributor's opinion.

UPD: unfortunately, i still do not have complete solution to this problem... neither my acquaintance who run much bigger web-sites.
although i can share some news with you:
1. lots of changes are coming; AudioZ will become much more secure, rules for uploaders will be very strict.
2. i'm working hard to make our small community better; my programmers almost finished service which will help us to keep posts alive longer and cause less problems to the site.
3. soon we'll have our own server for images, therefore uploaders won't have to use unstable Picture Hosters to share screenshots.
4. soon AudioZ will be moved to a new VDServer, which will grant you faster and more stable access.
5. old posts will not be removed, but i'll make it the way they won't bother you

Whatever the new solution will be, a system where some people and companies can make a lot of profit with warez HAS TO END.

That is and was pure immorality.

(I had also log in problems today, if like someone tried to log in with my nickname...)

I'm not really new around here. This id is new because my old one quit working after a previous site redesign. First, a big 'Thank you' to Saint for all the work you've done. I sure do appreciate it. And thanks to all of you kind folks who have shared so much with this community.

As to how to deal with this dilemma, I would suggest a different approach. There really isn't any fool-proof way to keep things hidden on the web without going to great lengths to accomplish this. Instead of encrypted files, hidden links, etc., perhaps think about simply bringing less attention to the site. It doesn't have to be completely hidden, it just needs to not appear so active as to show up on other people's radar.

I wouldn't mind seeing the commercially-oriented posters move on elsewhere. I realize that they provide a lot of the postings, but to be honest, a lot of it is also old. I wouldn't mind a model with fewer postings done by community-oriented members who were simply interested in sharing for the sake of sharing. What a concept, eh? Such a site would probably get a lot less attention which might not be such a bad thing.

Anyway, that's just my two cents. However things work out here, thank you , Saint. You rock!

i think the solution we upload in to server in japan or russa or any country don't work with sopa (fuck sopa ) because in this case we have 2 soltion

1- first uploading in non sopa server

or

2-work with emule server \ torrent server headbang

what do u think's brother i will upload for vst and share with my torrent wink

Please go TORRENT, there's nothing they can do about P2P, Im sick tired of people making profit off uploads, it's nearly impossible to get a big release unless you pay for a premium account, which is pointless as the main goal of warez is them being free

So fuck Mega, Filesonic, fileserve, and all of this bunch of real PIRATES making money out of free community releases

P2P/Torrent is not a good choice in some countries (e.g. Germany), where lawyers are logging millions of torrent users/IP Adresses, to force the providers to hand out the personal data of the users to prosecute them (about 1000 $ if you pay direct, otherwise, they threat you with a law suit). Many users are afraid and pay, even if they would probably pay less when they would accept the lawsuit.

rico88,
1. Wait 1 week (at a minimum) before making any major changes.

2. Start from scratch, but create a section for re-upload requests for files lost to hosters that are no longer available.

3. Change format of site to 'must be registered-to-see-links' so that what's available here isn't mined by google. You will still have plenty of spies coming around, but at least you won't turn up in a google search of a file name.

4. Consider starting a section for legit (no infringement involved) files, so that if the site ever runs into a legal problem you are able to say audioz was not solely for the promotion of warez. You would do that because it's much tougher to shut down sites that can demonstrate they have a legitimate, legal purpose. If someone comes to Audioz that's not registered, all they see are the legal, non-infringing links (see #3).

grdh20,
rico88, sounds like a good plan.

electrolover,
rico88 's plan seem to be a very good plan.also file names could be like myfile**.rar or mydesktop**.rar or mypicture***.rar etc.

+1 We must do at least these things to survive.
There is nothing *we* can do about hosters but wait and see how it settles. In the meantime, get the above sorted. :)

Let's think it through for alternatives, yes; but let's wait and see what happens over the next few days before we start overreacting.

In the meantime, go make some music with whatever palette you have in hand.

I have only recently come across your site, you guys work very hard and have created one of the best sites for music production stuff I have ever come across. I seem to have most luck with torrent download. It still seems to be strong and is pretty quick with seeders. Which showing the amount of people who are active here will surely help the downloads.

First I want to say that I support any decision you make SAINT.

about a fresh start, I really dont know what to say... dunno I mean if you start from scratch its gonna be a lot of work to re up everything again, but the main problem is which service is really going to work , because RS had problems a few years ago and everything stopped working. so we have to choose carefully, because if we start from scratch and then the new service fails, its going to be a waste of time and effort. damn

on the other hand if we start hiding everything and make it very very exclusive and difficult to download, then the FBI has already won, because what is the point of a site like this? if not to share, to share to everyone, I mean thats the true mission here, the real reason in the first place. so if we are going to start hiding everything and stuff like that, then as I said the fucking FBI and SOPA has already won. thats precisely what they want, to scare everyone, to bring down sites like this one. So lets fight and stand strong, dont let them win. Please DONT LET THEM WIN... we can fight the back mates

SAINT if you decide to start from scratch , please advise us to which service we are going to use, so I can help uploading stuff again. and thank you for an amazing site. wink

hello guys,
this is my first post, i've downloaded a couple of things thanks to this website, so, THANKS to all the uploaders.

about rapidshare, yes, it's based in switzerland. laws are different there, you can download stuff and keep it, but you can't share what you've downloaded.. something like that.

if everybody starts moving their files to rapidshare, i'm not sure if they can handle all the trafic, for a long period.

so if i can make a comment, rapidshare was my first site i paid for, like maybe 2 years ago, or a bit more. it was unlimited, it was quite cool. but suddenly, they changed their system, and started working with "rapids", stuff wasn't unlimited anymore, etc.

I don't upload and don't make any kind of money with fs, rapid, etc. one thing that made me not renew my account anymore,on rapidshare, was because , for example, i had an account for 6 months. suddenly, they changed many things, and my months were converted in points. all i know is because i didn't use my points, for some reasons(nothing good at the moment, for example), we kept losing points, and suddenly, my points were over, a few months before the end of my account. i sent several emails, but it was never clear, so i stopped rapidshare, and went filesonic-oron, until today.

also, even if laws in switzerland are a bit "loose" about downloading stuff, swiss politicians are always sucking USA dicks, because of the problems with UBS swiss bank, in usa, jewish accounts in swiss banks, from 2nd world war, USA got 1.2 billion from swiss banks, for that, etc etc. all this to say IF Usa makes any kind of pression over switzerland, about rapidshare, swiss government, to not spoils their relations with the usa, will do whatever they want, and if USA wants rapidshare to shutdown, guys, believe me, it will shutdown really fast. and if USA asks swiss government to provide lists of downloaded content, user accounts data, etc, once again, swiss will pull their skirt down, and let USA government do whatever they ask. for keeping the banks secret, swiss will do anything, if usa just threaten them, about rapidshare.

so guys, all this to say, rapidshare, for me, wouldn't be the best solutions.
hope this can help you somehow.

thanks again for your posts.

In my previous post i said start again from clean but i'd forgotten about how useful the archive of information is about installing plug ins etc. Maybe that info is worth archiving somewhere. Especially if once the dust settles it might be some of the earlier versions of things that get shared.

Use encrypted names and a password only AudioZ Members know.
Also.. i know you want to bring traffic to the site. but make sure only the post's title is showing and not any downloadlink

Sidenote : Audioz only accessible via invites?

First of all I want to thank the SAiNT and all uploaders for this unrivalled site. wink

Whether you choose any solution to the situation that just occurred, it would be great if in addition to the http site had an option to share files over an FTP or something like DC++ hub (I know it's oldie), or something like that ... for file sharing, where we can even chat etc... as an alternative to http. mates

BTW: Here in the Czech Rep. we have a file-sharing site Called "ULOZ.TO" (translation: SAVE.IT) / 2GB per uploaded file as free user, primitive captcha, no waiting between downloads / ... and everyone knows it, everyone uses it, EVERYONE. Even old woman from newsstand. And this site exists here for many years (at least 7 years, I think). We have quite weak laws for it. And maybe we also have lazy officials & government. wink

@502DID, grdh20, electrolover--

Thanks for your mention of my earlier post. I appreciate it!

@ Mareczech --

I recently used Uloz.to on another site's links, and it did work just fine. It seems that no one is watching that site at the moment, they are kind of 'under the radar', so it might be a good choice for people. It's not in English, but I had no problem figuring out what to do on it, and speeds were o.k., not great but, o.k.

@xXxuploadxXx --

I think you may be right. Wouldn't shock me if one or more of these hosts decides to turn around on this stuff over the next week. They've cut us off, but they've also cut themselves off from all money flow -- who's going to be paying filesonic for anything at the moment -- so we might see a turnaround.

In France it's not a good idea to use torrents for you get caught and receive a mail from justice, the Adopi Law straight away, it happened to all the people i know who still use bittorrents. Why not pay the account first, for it's normal that people who put at our disposal the plugs should be rewarded, then buy the plugs we like, for it's normal that the people who conceived them should be rewarded too, and then, as Antara suggested 9 pages ago, why not start making some music with all that we already got, which is everything we need really?
Why wanting everything absolutly free , everything has got a price in life, love, death, music, software, life itself, bread, etc...Thanks to all the nice people who worked to put those tools at our disposal.

You guys really consider to pay for these hosting sites again, after you've seen how they shitted on your heads, at the first glimpse of any possible complication?

What they did, was to simply breach the contracts with all members, from one day to the other, without any prior warning.

Actually paying members could perform a class action against filesonic for example, for ignoring existing contracts. This would be a bigger threat for them, then the threat wich they seem to see now.

And after such a betrayal of trust you really wanna go back to them?

Use Mediafire! Why? Because:
- very fast download
- no waiting time
- unlimited parallel download
- supports download accelerator
- resumable download
- no verification code
- no limits per day
- it's friggin' FREE!

I believe that we all have enough plugins to make music for sure.

There are a lot of god ideas in here, w for sure will come up with something revolutionary
but Big Brother will always be with us like agent Smith landing in Zion.
There are already reading this post and take a good note of what we are thinking.
without the help of countries that want to Tackle the US and western Europe countries BIG BROTHER related internet spying, it may just be even harder.
Countries where we can host our files are.

Russia - China - Venezuela - Thailand - vietnam - Irak - may be some countries in Africa would not give a shit but unfortunately they don't have the right Infrastructures to provide what we had so far, so, it is still the cat trying to catch its own tail....

Good luck everyone and Thanks Saint for your site,

You are the Man.
