Funny thing, but only now i have realized that the site is practically empty.

we can definitely forget about MU and FileServe; FileSonic might come back in a few days, but still most of the posts and mirrors are dead.

this leads to a good question: wtf do we do now? :o))

i don't want to make a mess with mirrors and other stuff... after all about 20% of posts was dead anyway.

so it seems to me that the best thing to do is to start with a clean sheet.
some stuff will be lost forever, but most of it, i am sure, will be reuploaded in a month or so.

please vote in the poll.
i especially want to read our contributor's opinion.

UPD: unfortunately, i still do not have complete solution to this problem... neither my acquaintance who run much bigger web-sites.
although i can share some news with you:
1. lots of changes are coming; AudioZ will become much more secure, rules for uploaders will be very strict.
2. i'm working hard to make our small community better; my programmers almost finished service which will help us to keep posts alive longer and cause less problems to the site.
3. soon we'll have our own server for images, therefore uploaders won't have to use unstable Picture Hosters to share screenshots.
4. soon AudioZ will be moved to a new VDServer, which will grant you faster and more stable access.
5. old posts will not be removed, but i'll make it the way they won't bother you

I think it would be a shame to delete all old posts.

Even if 100% of the links were dead (which I doubt), the old posts can still be useful, since they contain hints for installation and experiences with the software (besides of flame wars and lots of bashing, of course rofl )

RapidShare has said it is not concerned about suffering the same fate as Megaupload, releasing an explanation on its Facebook page on Saturday.

"One of the main differences between RapidShare and Megaupload is that we never wanted to escape from the legal access of any administration," it said.

"RapidShare AG was founded in Switzerland, was always based at the address cited in the imprint and was always managed with an authentic name without any anonymous intermediary companies."

File hosting services should stay away from US servers. Seems they want to control the whole of cyberspace these days.

Not sure about Anonyupload...probably too soon to pass any judgment.

Yep, definitely wait a while, see what happens, then start re-uping links, I am willing, as I am sure many people are, to start uploading myself, all the stuff people request. My internet is pretty slow, but I will spend any necessary time to get things moving again mates AudioZ will prevail tongue
Keep it simple

aerokiller
Referring URLS ... or small text files to open in browser with links ... so there is no link from where the file was opened from (websites track on which IP the link was last used) ...

Also, using code for the file names ... personal suggestion ... have done it before ... but beware, these guys can look into rars ...

So I suggest double compressed, with password archives with coded names and using an anonymous list service, or a text file we download and open on our computer in the browser ...

+1 for aerokiller's suggestions

and maybe consider filelockers outside US and EU jurisdiction like:

http://www.onlinedisk.ru/
http://files.mail.ru/

(both in Russia)

Many good things has already been said in this topic. and I agree with most of what's been said, as well. I am glad we have many good supporting guys in here. This is without any doubt one of many reasons why I joined this forum to begin with. I think it's better to kind of "freeze" the site and let it stay as it is.

Also the whole story behind the shutdown of "megaupload", was kind of "Kim DotCom"'s own fault. He has a bit of a background to do things his way to get most money from it and well sometimes his methods has been questionable. As far as who is investigating and who's not, it's very possible this will get a major impact seen from a more global perspective. Alot of hackergroups have been doing some seriously attacks against federal sites and that is quite a bold action. I mean we're NOT speaking about "dad's 16Yo lady-son who just read some cool saggy PHA files found on a kewl 7337 hacking site", no we're talking about hackers who really can do damage IF they want. I mean when speaking of 175M dollars liquid money and further 50M in hold money, QUITE a reason to fight for. Also they want a major revenge against movie companies and big music companies, who were fast to claim they were ripped off. That is a bit of horse crap. Sure the movie and music business seem always to be the target. But well they are not, due what the harvest other ways such as promotions, movie theaters, selling, investors, commercials..etc.

Seen from another perspective and if you read the documentation around the ""megaupload" arrest"", you can see that neither "KimDotCom" or his 3 collegues were arrested for "spreading illegal datalinks". They had done quite some dirty job, by incorporating on other fileshare sites with banners, and fake links which were sent to their site to fish customers and get premium users of other sites. So yeah, that's bad and can be discussed under the "ethics laws".

Filesonic they just acted in panic to save their own butts and well back in December they said how they would cooperate with Vobiles and implelent their system, however wether that happened or not is still not documented and well to break a legal claim is not the most bright idea in town!

I can't defend or debste more on this, but yeah as far as it goes for "AudioZ", I hope for the best and I really hope we will still be able to share ideas, post info, speak about all kind of music interests and raise an opinion here and there :)

I mean the wishbone for this site (also forum, including all members and all that jazz), got potential and well let's hope and wish for the future to be bright.

You guys and mostly you Saint got my fully support okay.
Over and out,
Xiny6581 :-)

A fresh start is probably the way to go. Most important is encrypted names of files so those looking cannot find them, and of course that means more a close circle of friends to keep the wolves from entering the house, but how this is achieved in a virtual world of anonymous faces without the touch of a handshake and open palm is a question I would just love to reckon. SAINT and COMPANY, bless you, and try to feel secure in the positive vibes coming your way. You guys are great.

I also would wait. To start clean is ok, but I want to be able to search the old posts in an archive section.
I use jDownloader a lot, and it is able to crypt links. If I load a jDownloader Container, i can download from the hoster but I never see the link. Ok jDownloader requires a host. I think rapidshare is a good idea at the moment, because it is fast for free users.

And to be honest, all the years I am here I never owned a premium, i never paid for anything I got from here. And I think this is the way it should be. If I am willing to pay for a premium then I should also be able to spend some bucks for a plugin.

And if I share some files that someone else has cracked, it is simply wrong to get money out of it.

So please share free and donate a few bucks to a plugin company and dont give hosters money just that they offer you faster bandwith. its simply wrong. cause these guys have nothing to do with making music. I heard the megaupload guy is rank one in cod mw3? :D

And because I think like that, I would not be amused to pay a tax for this site. It was never the case here and I think the site is famous and well liked to not charge you anything. Files are getting larger these days and it takes time, but it is not WORK, it is caring and sahring with others so no money should be involved. money makes everything difficult. And why are so many users here in the first place? Cracks for free. this is it.

And the Idea to contribute first before beeing able to download is not possible for me because i know no sources. I am very thankful for any video or sofware that helps me understand more how music works, but I cant upload something new, because so many guys are way faster than me because they know the sources.

As I found this site you could only see links after registration and this was fine for me.

But as someone here already said, megaupload was busted because of money loundry etc and not primariliy for piracy.

So wait, do music, we will see what comes. crypted links are good, different filenames, passwords on files and we are good. If you decide to be hidden from google or not is not for me to decide.

Personnally, I think NewsGroups are a very efficient way. Secure (HTTPS), cheap (11$ a month for unlimited plan).

A lot of good & not-as-good ideas have been set forth on this thread.
But what's for sure is that an undeniable waiting process before anything regretful may or may not be done, has got to pass.As for a unanimous final solution? Well IMHO the air right now & for a while more to come,is & will simply not be clear enough to be able to claim a defined resolution via.But nonetheless undoubtedly,an approach bearing more discretion & ''legal'' persecution deflection capabilities while still a prevailing access not ridden with a million hoops & loops for those who are truly thankful & thus worthy to get in,needs to be implemented.Yes,access even for those hungry folks that while although they can't necessarily be contributing at all times with anything new( mostly due to day-job time investment,& the swiftness of full-time web diggers & scouts in beating them to do so),needs to still be.

I think that if Audioz becomes another one of those fucked up & VERY HYPOCRITICAL sites that charge a bunch of fees just to get link access(which many times even more cynically & contrary to their ''reliability & permanence'' claims, these are filled with flaws & absences),it would turn into the very reason many people hate & avoid those sites.& truthfully in a big way it would just make it a part of the whole money-grubbing greedy conglomerate of shit it precisely stands against or defies.& well, again IMHO taking up this road thus defeats the whole purpose of Audio freedom, sharing,& the trusty try-before-you-buy concept.

I understand very well that many of who upload here or wherever,do it mostly because of the reaped economical benefits this involves;& hey don't get me wrong as that's really cool & fine with me because regardless of whatever be their main reasons, well still their very hard work is very much appreciated, truly loved,& obviously advantageous for us who can't contribute as much.I am compelled to reiterate a point in the fact that well...turning Audioz--in deep essence--with this disastrous ''pay up or fuck off!'' policy, into the very same oppressing & tyrannical compound of corps. & developers that way too many times make their products inaccessible for us little guys who are much more in this for the love of music &/or growth in the game for many reasons that simply do not subject to the interests of markets & or devaluable world currencies,is really not a way to go in my book.Having said that,& unwavering that position & pillar,I would still budge to support contributing with what I can & if I can to Audioz & only Audioz, for a decent private host/server system somewhere where it can be as free as possible,if this comes to be the only option to keep it operating.

I love & respect Audioz with all my heart, mind, body & soul!& I hate to see it go through these hard times of uncertainty & limitation to continue to do all the superb work it(its community) does for struggling musicians,or simply anyone not born or living on piles of money who truly wants to make better music for more reasons than to ''sell albums & go on tours''.Life is hard enough for too many of us who can barely get by on crap salaries or unemployment,& sites like Audioz are really GODSENT & truly magnificent!!!

But any who, just my two cents.Long fucking live the Audioz concept,MR.Saint, the teams of crackers & source providers, the community of commenters who give heads up on the functionality of pieces or on whatever it be,& all the great pack of uploaders who are 24/7 (supposing they have the kind of time to do so =P)making sure it's hard for others to find something to upload that is not already available here every time many of us log in.

Respect, regards, thanks,& best of luck to all who positively make up this site,or who at least care enough to give props & thanks to who deserve them,& or propose feedback of any sort to keep the string going. It is only to you who I wish the best! Not all the ''MAC vs PC '' jackasses & countless ingrates & unappreciatives who constantly clutter the site with their bullshit bickering & complaining instead of being thankful for what's available for fucking FREE,thanks to the beautiful altruism from all those who put in hard work to make this place a home!!!Yes,a sense of altruism, regardless of the fact that behind it there's an economical incentive driving those who make up the main uploader division of this beautiful chain of cherishable beings that make all this possible.

We all must stay strong,& never go quietly into the night!!!

I've been thinking again... dangerous I know.

I would love the site to have original content as a front for residents to have a cosy commercial warez back end. At the end of the day the files need to be served somehow and a genuine front end would be so cool to do that. I make loads of synth patches and samples all the time. Perhaps we could sell the sample packs we make as a community to fund a torrent server.

It would rely on creativity and new content to survive rather than any money changing hands between users or third parties. It's a bit like asking for donations but giving something in return. Uploaders of original content would get backend access and be able to share commercial releases?

How does that sound?

Saint when you first set the site up you wanted warez that was under 3 weeks old. So on that go for clean slate
If Microsoft can be cracked then the rest is fair game

I also think the best way is to start from a clean sheet.
Maby invent a new protocol like ftp, torrent and encription mixed together within an new application.

I think that this is what we are going to see in the future.

Some other filesharing have moved exclusively to Rapidshare and Depositfiles hosting only. I think this is a good start, as they seem to be the two most reliable going right now. And start fresh from scratch since most of the links are dead anyway.

you know ,it shakes , but doesn't fall . Why don't create a new session , and gradually get the updates from the "old" session , still accessible , that everyone can help to organize it , while trying the posts and links ?

anyway , thanks again SAiNT .

p.s. I had some trouble to log , as if I had used up all my attempts to log , on the very first try .

Here is a really good host, one of the lesser known ones but it's decent.
http://ifile.it/ also http://www.partige-facile.com is excellent with 1GB limit per file, there are good lesser known alternative hosts, everyone seems to go for only the well known ones.

i agree - we can start from the beginning again - and im sure we'll all pull together and get stuff reloaded - maybe we can do something with a closed registration system like audiofarm used to be - and find another file hosting system

I would start over but keep archive of the old posts for a while. The picture/info can be copied into the new posts and save a lot of time.

I know this isn't the fix but I wish we could have private FTP together and share our resources. Maybe it could be something optional in addition to the http service.
