Funny thing, but only now i have realized that the site is practically empty.

we can definitely forget about MU and FileServe; FileSonic might come back in a few days, but still most of the posts and mirrors are dead.

this leads to a good question: wtf do we do now? :o))

i don't want to make a mess with mirrors and other stuff... after all about 20% of posts was dead anyway.

so it seems to me that the best thing to do is to start with a clean sheet.
some stuff will be lost forever, but most of it, i am sure, will be reuploaded in a month or so.

please vote in the poll.
i especially want to read our contributor's opinion.

UPD: unfortunately, i still do not have complete solution to this problem... neither my acquaintance who run much bigger web-sites.
although i can share some news with you:
1. lots of changes are coming; AudioZ will become much more secure, rules for uploaders will be very strict.
2. i'm working hard to make our small community better; my programmers almost finished service which will help us to keep posts alive longer and cause less problems to the site.
3. soon we'll have our own server for images, therefore uploaders won't have to use unstable Picture Hosters to share screenshots.
4. soon AudioZ will be moved to a new VDServer, which will grant you faster and more stable access.
5. old posts will not be removed, but i'll make it the way they won't bother you

from my standpoint as admin/supermod/staff on a few other boards (for years)...
and the files i find here on audioz, stay on my ext drive for production
i do not leech-post shares/links to other places - thats just not cool

my thoughts and experience with this situation as follows:

1- keep the board as is but-
create a dead letter office forum. move any share thread to there
current members with X # of posts will have access to it for info and ref
new members will need to make a minimum # of posts to gain access
bots will not have access to this dead link section
when new up links/mirrors are posted, move the thread back into its respective forum

2- clean slate approach-
done that before also, but you lose alot of members and visitors
of course anyone that stays has a fresh slate as well

3- file names and pass to extract
ALWAYS- no exceptions
does not need tobe a certain pass like some sites
just make sure it has a pass and is posted in the share thread

in my humble opinion..

yes of course there will always be an alternative..and we will survive and work on it..
i love this community..

but perhaps.we need to wait a little, what will happen and think it through..
we dont have to make rash decisions..

gather up all the ideas..and make the best solutions..
im sure in just a couple of days or weeks..there will be an answer
we must be PATIENT

I guess rapidshare transition? What about uploiading.com. Are they overseas?

Go torrent ...... much more secure, cheaper and works great with huge files!

Servers could be switched off just like that - all links vanished on the sites like Filesonic, Fileserve etc. ..................... This will happens again!

I agree with SAiNT and funtime. I think it's too soon to make any big decisions.

iv downloaded many times from audioz but now i think its the time to tell something....LEARN FROM THE BESTS.. i live in greece and here many forums with links are closed from the covremement..exept one forum..they have create one program and they download with that program.. in the site dont show any link but when you press on button on the forum with the file that you want..the file start on this program. all the links are hidden so there is not way to delete someone the links from the servers. the site its www.greekddl.com . its from music but has 500.000 users... or the sexond way its the torrentz..

Let's not forget... in the past.. other than FTP.. NNTP was the way to go... and it is still an easy to access and easy to 'hide' / encrypt format with good distribution... and in the US, apparently has protected "Carrier' status which is why services like Giganews etc.. still exist.

The one thing that is obviously going to change.. is that people will no longer be able to make money from uploading and imho, that can only be a good thing... Time to get back to the original STW ethics.. and keep money out of the equation!

I guess rapidshare transition? What about uploiading.com. Are they overseas?

uploading has his admins in the US check here:
http://whois.to/uploading.com

i tested all filesharing services as the MU went down ...
most of them have servers in the US
thats why i had not downloaded from Fileserve/ Filesonic/ no uploading/ no uploadingstation - i was nearly down to download nothing ... just from the refx page some uncracked stuff :D

i ahve no problem with encrypting filenames like discover does everytime - then add a password - its ok to keep our stuff save.

no way i use public torrents again or torrents - just private ones ...
and im sure u can trust new regged members :/
so i think DJ_Digital ideas are great imo.

i think we should brainstorm in the meantime and make some great music!
If you want to supply something, you can. PM is open for that.

-Clean Sheet
-Encrypt or Password
-No real file name in the post.
-The U.S already have eye on RS, let's find another host.
-Block certain release from Google bots, at least atm.
Yeah, instead of trying to go mainstream and let everybody know about Audioz, we really need to go deeper underground.

It's going to be a dry transition for a while. We've become spoiled.

1. Wait 1 week (at a minimum) before making any major changes.

2. Start from scratch, but create a section for re-upload requests for files lost to hosters that are no longer available.

3. Change format of site to 'must be registered-to-see-links' so that what's available here isn't mined by google. You will still have plenty of spies coming around, but at least you won't turn up in a google search of a file name.

4. Consider starting a section for legit (no infringement involved) files, so that if the site ever runs into a legal problem you are able to say audioz was not solely for the promotion of warez. You would do that because it's much tougher to shut down sites that can demonstrate they have a legitimate, legal purpose. If someone comes to Audioz that's not registered, all they see are the legal, non-infringing links (see #3).

I remember the days of CCS, of 0 day ftps and running and hiding and all manner of wonk. This is the best there's ever been for audio. The best. Bar none. Things may come and things may go but the scene goes on forever.

Filesonic will be back. I think this site needs to be a bit more careful, and more discreet.

I think that the best is : 1. private sharing + 2. encrypted files + 3. torrent. as George says "What else ?.."

what about a password site where you have to log in charge members 2.00 a month or 5.00 to access it use the money to buy more sample packs or fund a Private server?
i don know the answer

Living in Germany I cannot and will not use torrents. A friend of mine has been busted twice in the last couple of years only because he downloaded a cheesy Mp3 pop album. Private tracker or not, I wouldn't trust the bittorrent system any longer.

Good thing is though all those files aren't lost, they are on the Audioz's users hard drives now... ;)

I represent probably not the majority here, but at least a good chunk. I'm not as skilled when it comes to knowing about hiding your IP, encrypting files, ect ect. But I do know about audio & engineering. What should the less informed people like me do now that some of The Old Guard has fallen? I'm prepared to do whatever it takes to be able to participate again in sharing. I hope somebody can explain something to me. Thanks. WE WILL PREVAIL!!!!

...and please, no need to think about other ways, solutions and stuff.
AudioZ is an http resource and we'll stay the best in it.

there is nothing horrifying happening. all things will return to it's place soon.

^SAiNT^

While brainstorming is good i think at the moment it's better to focus on the interm period rather than a complete overhaul of AudioZ. I did vote for keeping the site but i think the idea of keeping an archive separate from the main site sounds pretty viable but as SAiNT said, no reason to jump to conclusions yet.

we should go to the deep web, and pass the site for people we trust? anyway we got a lot of people already here!
mediafire is a good place to post if someone dont care about the money

personally i think, like many others have already said, the best thing to do is wait a little. Let the dust settle and see what the options are. Also, considering how many of the links are gonna be dead, probably a clean slate will be the best if not the only option...

I all for the clean start but could you archive the old stuff?
Condence it to a bunch of text files if space is an issue, as it's good referance stuff for installing old releases. Just cause we all lost it dosen't mean someone somewhere didn't keep a release to reupload. If you go back to a copy on a CD you burned 2 years ago you'll miss the stuff that gets deleated.
Start new but archive the old in some form, dosen't have to be easy to use. A big rar file will do.

I hate Torrents constantly scream that you have the files to the hole world. I've never liked that idea. ok what we used might in the past have did have a record that we accessed the stuff but it was a record not a active identifier saying he is here and he has it on this PC.

Rapidshare and other unkowen ones are the future. There has to be some good ones like www.zippyshare.com but without the 200mb and 30 day limit.

Sorry for only just signing up. I thought I signed up ages ago

I see some real dumb idea's plz dont go in to that:

"Change format of site to 'must be registered-to-see-links' "
if you do this the site will die because not a lot of people who dont want to register and go to another site.

"torrents."
also a no go it takes way more people to seed then to upload some file. very easy to get death links

"charge members"
they will go to another site where the copy the charged stuff and put it on for free

The only thing needed is to password the files that you upload, then rename the rar files to something like 3.rar of box.rar so they can't find it. use http://www.multiupload.nl/to keep them online and give a lot of links.

also wait a while before making decisions. the tides can change.....

charging members for the sake of exclusivity is a bad idea..in my opinion

We must contemplate on what to do next..
for the meantime we must bear with it for a couple of days or weeks..

I just want to thank Saint and the guys around him for all the efforts to keep this site rocking!! I don't know what should be the next step ... and as long as our future is unpredictable I just can say I'll be forever grateful to you.

[b]i think torrent arnt that seady reason why we dont use them anymore . wee still have rapid share oron and such send space and also lil sites like zippy share but soon the will be down to . best bet is to build a site that has private links with pass words and take audioz off of google search make us look anonymous . from big brother . i love audioz there so many damn packs that be on here that aren't that great , that are posted . Anew rule should be go threw the packs where actually uploading and dont upload them unless there the full one and are good and worth uploading .

Salut Tout le monde :
SAiNT We believe in you but those are my points:

1- we have to wait Some days 10 maybe untile things calm down.
2- SAiNT don't start from scratch this will take a while and it's like renew the site again it will be positive to clean the site but mm.
3- open a section for reupload request's mean every one post a dead post and uploader of the post must fill the post with just one working link minimum.(there is now planty of working F.H Filepost i have statement from theme that they will not close it and Ul.to for this last one just use hide my ip will work for us visitors.
4 - for those who wanna money i now it's not big deal like me iam not lying for money use rapidshare links spoiled with adcrunch or adf.ly link or pastbin.

and thnx that's my point for me i will be here SAiNT i will share next days my stuff new just to FUCK Of those who make internet die and wanna AUDIOZ to be in the past no and no FK OF SOPA AND FBI we are here.

NB: we must share stuffs and stuffs again for making theme crying over those steps that they do fk theme.

share and share to take theme down.

SAiNT i now that iam newbie here but i loved this home and maybe to other iam the guy who loves money just money that's maybe true but all here make money but i just thinked to help every one here with links.
So thnkx to all here and sorry for those i bother theme but i will con to post here and share here. thnkx
