Funny thing, but only now i have realized that the site is practically empty.

we can definitely forget about MU and FileServe; FileSonic might come back in a few days, but still most of the posts and mirrors are dead.

this leads to a good question: wtf do we do now? :o))

i don't want to make a mess with mirrors and other stuff... after all about 20% of posts was dead anyway.

so it seems to me that the best thing to do is to start with a clean sheet.
some stuff will be lost forever, but most of it, i am sure, will be reuploaded in a month or so.

please vote in the poll.
i especially want to read our contributor's opinion.

UPD: unfortunately, i still do not have complete solution to this problem... neither my acquaintance who run much bigger web-sites.
although i can share some news with you:
1. lots of changes are coming; AudioZ will become much more secure, rules for uploaders will be very strict.
2. i'm working hard to make our small community better; my programmers almost finished service which will help us to keep posts alive longer and cause less problems to the site.
3. soon we'll have our own server for images, therefore uploaders won't have to use unstable Picture Hosters to share screenshots.
4. soon AudioZ will be moved to a new VDServer, which will grant you faster and more stable access.
5. old posts will not be removed, but i'll make it the way they won't bother you

Please don't start from scratch, there is still some nice gems hiding here for those who dig.

Start fresh, and try to maintaint the old website at hand as reference.

Wait at least, 2 weeks to settle the dust, we will not die... i suppose xD. There's some hosting like letitbit that are on russia... what we have to avoid is USA, UK, France, and know wich is outside of DMCA reach. Obviously, cryptic file names, passwords and even some system to hide for side crawlers (when i work we have to crawlers developed by us that goes everywhere without taking in account robots.txt or similar... for bussiness inteligece applications for Tourist and finances)

There is no need to go "deep web", first, cause you can stop de crawlers (if i don't remeber bad) to see a strict part of a server, there is no need to be oclusse to Google & company (all we need some way to find our way here... if it wasn't for google i never get here), second, because your are calling all kind of hackers this way... and you don't want them, trust me.

I've been 20 years on Internet and i don't want to go back to the old days where, if you know someone that wants to give you a BBS o NNTP, fine, if not, you're totally screwed.

When we start again fresh, i think it's time to give back something in exchange for all i get from here (not much in the end), some 80GB 24bit samples from SONART. it will take days, but don't care.

audioz should stay hidden away from google and other search engines ...registration limits like on torrent sites, a day once a month etc ...

I think starting from scratch would be the best. Posting more recent vst's and uploads instead of the old outdated software (leave that for the request section for those who really want those older packages). I think part of the reason so many files got caught as warez is because people name the rar packages exactly as the software is titled rather than changing the name to something much less noticeable or using a separate coded id in place...

+1 funtime has been spoutin wisdom and I agree with it, to let the dust settle before making any moves.

@babycrate, well then you'd better dig quickly! tongue

I think start from scratch. Require registration. Remove searches from Google. Discover and use legal loopholes and cleverly worded disclaimers.

I disagree with everyone has to share something new. Not all of us are hackers. And its very hard to find something that someone else hasn't posted already. If it were that easy to find new programs to share, we wouldn't even need this forum. Plus, what is to prevent someone sharing something in order to gain trust who was really an covert operative?

There are already 3 Torrent trackers that handle Audio Warez, no need for a fourth one. My suggestion would be that everybody go and make some music and let the dust settle and see what's really going on before jumping to conclusions.
Get a job

Hey Ya'll ...

My Two Cents ...

Referring URLS ... or small text files to open in browser with links ... so there is no link from where the file was opened from (websites track on which IP the link was last used) ...

Also, using code for the file names ... personal suggestion ... have done it before ... but beware, these guys can look into rars ...

So I suggest double compressed, with password archives with coded names and using an anonymous list service, or a text file we download and open on our computer in the browser ...

That is frankly the best way ... otherwise, requesting the download by liking a post or something ... so that it looks like a review site of releases, but then you get the links referred to your email ...

So many ways to do it ... hit me up Saint and the other mods if you need some more suggestions ... cheers ...

Sharing IS caring! :)

SOPA and PIPA can go fuck themselves ...

Hey aero, I really like that email idea - I don't think that can happen easily though. I do believe that we should change to members-only. It won't help a whole lot, but it's a step in the right direction.

My proposal is that as soon as AudioZ agrees on a new file-hosting site to upload to, ALL members, for a limited time, should have the ability to post, simply for the purpose of rebuilding our database as fast as possible (this is assuming we start from a clean slate.)MediaFire seems like a stable site, but the uploaders would have to give up making money, which is not an option for many. I'm more than eager to contribute to the reuploading when the time comes.

As SAiNT has stated the site will remain an http resource the practicalities of peer to peer, FTP, Intranet server/clients etc are a moot point. Not to mention we'd need TB's of real estate, a static IP and fast, reliable broadband connection host side.

Renaming, encrypting or masking of file names is a step in the right direction.. but it may not be a file posted here that could cause a file sharing network closure. It may come from another external source entirely as file sharing services are not exclusive to AudioZ.

As I see it, whether the site becomes private or not, or started over with a clean sheet, its a file hosting solution via http that needs to be addressed.

I agree with the points others have mentioned that we should let the dust settle and see what becomes of the megaupload legal situation before considering options which may or may not be the solution we require.

I'd also like to add my support and thanks to SAiNT for fighting the power of greedy, self gratifying multi corporations.

no way we use mediafire - they open the doord for the FBI and they have their servers and the office in the US
they gave the FBI a looking to their ip logs and their files ... so better stay away to use this ...

i red this somewhere ...
i thnk we should let the dusk really settle and make in the meantime music and post the music here in the forum :)
ok?!
If you want to supply something, you can. PM is open for that.

I know sites are going great guns, torrents but private, free registration is one day a month or you can pay for seeded download. I'm not saying thats the right route but a similar closed style system would be good, invite only or pay model?

I think a redesign is best but also more of a policy do over too.

For example a dummy site as unregistered, when you log in you then get all releases. Having all releases without a login just promotes leeching to other sites.

Rar passwords i think are a must along with hidden/encrypted filenames that can be deciphered by us. This way even if content is copywritten it can't be reported as such by anyone without the password.

I for one am plenty up for a smaller community I used to be part of a streamload forum and that relied on being sent files to download for their service and worked great it only went down because the company changed it's pricing plans and sending policies that made sharing impossible. Also the forum used to hack FTPs and hide content on them for download, we used to have loads but i don't think thats viable either.

I would love for us to have our own server but i think that would be very very dangerous for ops legally.

I'm not sure what to suggest site wise i'm just rambling but i think from scratch with new rules is a 100% option, i for one would be happy with downtime for a safer site and happy to pay $2-3 a month. I know that's low but every little helps if that's what it takes.

It might be worth considering a new URL too, start fresh and all. Trusted member could be informed.

You need a few weeks to decide best forward action but it should be seen as a way to better things not a set back at all. Thanks

...and ban 99.9% of loops and samples packs that are not home made! foster creativity and originality, instead of recycling!

This is really funny here, people worry about how to get commercial stuff for free in future, lol, how long do you thinked this will move on like this ?

It's just the beginning, and it's our own fault !

Whats about sharing own intellectual property for free here in future, would you be into ?

BTW rapidshare is not safe, if they get a police report they have to give away uploader info, so be aware!

Indeed, what do we do now?
The internet is Deteriorating. First, it was that protest now the file sharing sites are going? What next, major networking sites and video sites? This is making me sick. It's like nothing is safe anymore. I think we should start over too. A fresh start never hurts. and besides: once it's gone, it's gone.

By the way, have you seen Uploaded.to? To quote them:

Some people misunderstood the rights.
If I bought legally content and have the using rights I can use any site like RapidShare to upload the content for myself.
That's the important point.

Check my AudioZ Files :)

I sgree with Funtime. Lets not make a hasty decision and wait a week or two and see how things are looking then. In the meantime, rapidshare is fine and changing the filenames of the .RARs is a good idea.

This is going to be a tough period for a while. It's best to stay calm and remember that the real targets are uploads of Movies and TV shows. Us warez users are just caught in the crossfire here.

Anyway, SAINT, whatever you decide to do is fine. Most of us realize that you have a lot to do in the next while whatever you choose.

no need to panic guys we all have pretty good stuff to make music. if we are waitnig for something new it will be a Seq update and in a naked version without all the extra parts will be easy to download. need all to relax and see where the thing is going. we dont have to upload here and there what we have it will be confusing and pointless. time is on our side! mates
