the best thing is the sense of entitlement some people feel toward getting free stuff on the internet...it seems some expect to be fed the best of the best without giving anything back

im old enough to remember the early days of the "scene" in bbs's and then newsgroups etc etc

kids today have it so good to have sites like this and 0-day trackers leaked and spread lighting fast and what not (though the links do die alot faster nowadays lol)

back in my day, we used to walk 30 miles to school each morning in the snow and rain with no shoes and we had to fight rabid wolves along the way and robbing thieves would steal our lunch money so we never ate no food all day long and had to cut down trees with our bare hands if we was late AND THAT'S THE WAY WE LIKED IT!!!!

I remember the last time we had this vote and discussion. It seems to me that nothing has really changed all that much -- some of the hosts being offered have different names, but the problems remain the same. To an ever-increasing degree I wind up "shopping" for my downloads here, but am then forced to go to other sites to actually "buy" them.

yeah. most of these type of sites all post the exact same stuff so coming here anymore is a bit pointless when another site uses fast free hosters

i understand man, the whole warez for money thing sucks! the hosts with the most lucrative programs are usually the worst for free users

but as always there's nothing stopping our resident uploaders and even regular residents and members to upload mirrors to free hosts like zippyshare, putlocker, 180 uploads, billionuploads etc etc

Saint is just trying to make sure we all have a common host so people with limited funds can feel safer getting the one account we choose instead of having to pay for a bunch of hosters

I also remember this old Audiowarez times...With sitting me at university every morning waiting to enter the computer room to search in some freaky newsgroups or ftp-search engines (reliz.ru and one early swedish university ftp-search engine dunno its name) for the latest Radium Releases (my seach algorithm was alsway "ra-*.zip")...chatting meeting with my mates of our AW-Warez group named "All-4-One" ... But none of us ever had the idea of earning money with all the warez we had. We search for insecure pubs, made invisible dirs and uploaded tons of shit to them and spreaded their adresses to #efnet #midiwarez etc.

All the listed sites are incredibly slow. Some of them may occasionally offer good speeds, but otherwise they're unreliable and slow.

They pay the most money to uploaders, I'm sure, but without good free options this poll means nothing.

Everyone knows that the best free services are sites like Putlocker and mega.co.nz

I won't pay for membership at download sites any longer because it's unreliable and often a waste of money. If I can't find good links here, I download from some place else.

This isn't an either or kind of thing we're just voting for a primary server, mirrors can continue to be posted and we have plenty of posts with BitShare as well as Mega and ZippyShare. Those people complaining I've got a solution for you: why don't we put you in charge of mirror links for every new release at your filehoster of choice and then everyone else can have a steady supply of fast free links. Oh wait...but then you wouldn't be able to sit here, contribute nothing and whine about the decisions of others who have actually chosen to take action...that could be a problem for some of you.

OK..I will do..but please tell me why I broke the rules. I read this /rules.html#mirrors ... where exactly is the rule that tells me its not allowed to mirror a file to a service where its impossible to earn money?

This is a serious question..I'm always ready to learn as I'm not so experienced here.

We had to add an option to Disable Mirrors for Contributors who post Exclusive releases.
If you see Post Mirror button disabled, that means you cannot post mirrors under that post.

BTW I deleted my zippyshare mirrow. No problem..but I think you should add a mirror for those who cant access to uploaded or rapigator.

So I understand correctly? You provide links to uploaded and rapigator but dont want to add another link even if its well known that for example people from italy arent able to use them. And even they asked you to add some other links you wont provide any ... even if the rules ask you to do so....and you dont want others to add mirrors. Hmm, OK..only one question left...WHY? I think when it would be your own release it would be OK to decide how you want to use it..but as far as I can see this is a MAGNETRIXX" release. Is it because you have any benefits or earn money by uploading it to exactly this two hosters? Call me stupid but I dont understand what the problem is.

By the way..I think the most comfortable solution would be zippyshare (OK, no chance to earn money). As you didnt tell me the reason why you dont want mirrors I think its because of earning money, isnt it? You have to excuse me, but I'm an old guy...using audiowarez for at least 17years now (remembering good old RADIUM releases and PARADOXs first working release of Cubase VST32) and for me all this earning money thing with warez is shit..no matter if you are a member of a release group or not. But nevermind its ok if you or others decide to do so.

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

The reason there are no mega or putlocker links here is that they get shut down by the pay-site uploaders.

Of course, this isn't the end of the world. There are other sites that use putlocker and mega regularly.

I know the person you are referring to and I agree that locking mirrors is ridiculous but this is the only uploader that does this and it seems that he explained it to you in the next to last line no? The bottom line is that it wouldn't matter if there were other people to take the responsibility of uploading releases first and then they could set the terms of mirror links. However all the people complaining don't feel there is enough incentive to do so...so essentially they are part of the problem they are so intent on fighting.

That first sentence is one I have never heard directed at me before, you must not know me very well. I've been doing this for the entirety of my life from the days of BBS and newsgroups and I work behind the scenes here and on AudioSex so if there's anyone that knows what they're talking about it's me. Read the answer I gave to Lukehh and by the way there are Mega and ZippyShare links here because some users didn't wait for someone else to do it and just took care of business.

It's not just about what people want but about what is sustainable for the community and due to the lack of initiative by members to upload to these services these are the choices we have. How much do I make? ZERO, NADA, ZILCH. I'm here and on AudioSex 7 days a week working for free...and you know what?...these are the times when it's the most rewarding.
I just proved there is choice with the list of Mega and ZippyShare links. Where's your proof? Ok thanks for playing.

Obviously not everyone has good intentions (just like in the real world) but I don't think about that when I'm doing my thing and neither does SAiNT, Alraun, ArticStorm, Parcell or RBolvari. When you want to do something you look for opportunities, when you don't you look for excuses, simple as that.

Seems all the altruism out there never makes it's way to our recent releases. Where's the new iZotope products brought to you by cloneboned or lukehh or uber909? Where are the mirrors on posts that allow linking to hassle free downloads? There's your answer.

My releases are ALL altruistic - not one of my link points to those lame profit-makers! And if it doesn't make way to others it's because Admins. impose it to use a certain file hosting site! This whole thread proofs it.
