Hey Guys, I am pretty sure I just found what the "MF: application compromised" timebomb is and I think I found a way to get it out of our lives.(fingers crossed, you guys tell me if it works for you) Ok, When you install Pro Tools, you also get a file named: "splwow64.exe" Installed at: Computer/OS(C:)/Windows, if you right click on it and go to its properties you will find that you do not have permission to modify or even move the file. Well, when running pro tools, open your task manager, and under the "processes" tab you will find the little sucker and it's description reads: "Print driver host for 32bit applications" I have found that this "process" only kicks in when you launch Pro Tools, but I have been able to (right click on it inside task manager/processes tab) and "end the process" and it has been smooth sailing for me. Of course you have to do this every time you launch Pro Tools (kinda annoying *for now* till the TEAM release a new version) but it's worked for me, so... I hope it works for you guys and you are able to Rock out for a bit longer... :P G-luck!

I have been running it ok , what i do is when the MF Box pops up , i just click on the menu bar at the top , and the Mf box goes to the bottom of my screen into the Tool Bar and Pro tools still works , Dont click the x or ok On the Error Box, just click the menu bar at the top .It lets me continue and it doesnt lock or Crash .I had 3 MF Errors come up in total , but doing this let me Continue for a couple of Hours and i could also Save my Session ...
Its still a pain but works ok for me and gives me a bit more time to play around with the piece of kit :)

But ever since.... The MF Error Hasn't appeared again when i reload the saved Sessions .. D

Well, Shiver Me Timbers......

"splwow64.exe" is a very small Win program that allows 32 bit print spooler programs such as Word, etc. to communicate with 64 bit printers......

I personally, don't understand why it should make a difference in the mf.dll process but.....who really knows, eh?!

You can easy disable this process from loading........HERE!

Hindustani, i've disabled autosave and tried all those before, they do not work. your splwow64 theory is just ridiculous, taht doesnt work either. the only time mf error appears is using the "sends" in protools to aux tracks and whatnot. try sending int oan aux truck, amke sure the audio is playing and move the volume fader on the aux track up and down rapidly, the mf error will appear. piniaar i want to be spoiled and use the sends.

I have to agree...time to give up. We must realize that this was leaked and the crackers knew it's problems and made it clear in the nfo. I think if it was easy as canceling a process or turning off autosave, they would have figured that out and mentioned it in the NFO.

That being said, has anyone tried this on Windows 7, 32 bit? I have come upon at least 3 people that say they have been error free running Win 7 32 bit. dunno I'm not gonna downgrade my OS even if it works but I'm just curious. yes

Don't get fouled by the "industry standard" hype! You've got a taste of Pew Tools with all of its faults.....and believe me, what you're experiencing now is only a taste of the "industry standard's" problems.

I know, I was sucked into PT's from v7.4 to 9.0.6 buying each upgrade, crossgrade and then some (which I still have) but I've happily switched to Cubase 6.5.4

Go to the DUC forum and read for yourself.......complaints haven't stop for years and tech support is non-existent. WHEN it works and it's a BIG when, its good.....but believe me when I say: "...it's NEVER constant!" All will be good then... You WILL receive errors, for no reason!

She's very expensive and will cost you much in one way or another......without resentment! Stop now....before you're hooked by this hooker (Avid)! She's not worth it....Even for free!

FWIW, installed new 10.3.1 update. Patch works (kind of) Version stills says 10.3 on exe but all other files are updated. Good news: but running for a couple hours now and no MF error! Will keep you all posted...
