JDownloader is free GNU-software, and i made this pic just to show that interface is very obvious, i don't think that members need instructions for that tool)
Browser issue with Mega is reducing with time, Opera goes on Chrome-engine, latest Firefox and IE works fine for me with Mega (never tried Safari though). I'm using JDownloader only to download BIG files, in other cases - browser. I think Mega is good replacement for alternatives like "Rapidshare", which became terrible fileshare if you have no premium

Often I've seen some uploaders here (and people who come here often know just who I'm talking about....) block people from posting alternative links when they first put up a post. Adopting that policy awhile back, based on the demands to Saint by some of the uploaders

like i said before in this thread, that option was given only to uploaders who took responsibility to reupload their own links to keep posts alive.
once again, for me this was never about the variety of choice, but for keeping posts alive.

Passwords will make no change when it comes to takedowns. Filehosters don't check content of files, they simply block every link as soon as it's reported.

tons of posts got removed every week, so when a member searches for Kontakt, he won't see a mess of previous versions and tons of reposts - just the latest version of Native Instruments Kontakt. it's bad for SEO, but good for our members, and i don't think you'll find this attitude anywhere else.

There's one alternative to JDownloader, which actually works. I'm using it since Rapidshare times and never failed me, which cannot be said for JD. It's called FreeRapid

200mb per file is same to the Mediafire (which also have no download limits and it's free), and this is not good because sound libraries usualy have much bigger size, creating&uploading a large number of "parts" is not comfortable for uploaders, and i guess for downloaders too. It works faster than mediafire but i found 1 issue - "File Life: 30 days after no activity." - this is not good)

I download everything for free @ 600kb - 1.0mb i could care less what the primary file storage is....Matter of a fact i didn;t even vote

honestly, i don't think one single person here gives a crap at what speed you're downloading, what and where - like i told you in PM after you insulted our members multiple times - you're not welcomed here, and that is something even lower than a ban.
so don't be surprised that comments like that will be removed... and they will be.

Thanks man, I really appreciate the sentiment. I reacted over a misunderstanding, it seemed that dbMuzik was saying that I was a hypocrite (which is a pet peeve of mine as I'm not) because I haven't posted anything but he was trying to say I contribute yet have no posts so number of posts is meaningless as a standard of character. It's cool I apologized for the misunderstanding and so did he so there's no bad blood, I wish more people could learn that skill here. Accidents happen when there's 17 pages of comments where people seem to actually be angry over what amounts to link sites that are not even in the poll. In the end there are many compelling reasons to be part of Audioz and AudioSex and if I didn't believe that I wouldn't be working hard to add something to the equation. It always seems like people have this what have you done for me lately attitude and that's not what a community is, particularly when the standards only apply to contributors and staff. You do things for someone a million times and many don't even say thanks, one time something is not exactly how people wish it was and suddenly the town villagers are breaking out the gasoline, torches and pitchforks.

that's kinda like apples and oranges -- I just noticed a guy with a post count of "1" that's a resident, so I'm not sure resident as compared to member is the issue -- I certainly haven't done a study of it but it sure does seem there's an increasing number of people that are new to your site with low post counts, with many of the people that had been around for awhile becoming scarce. Who knows though, maybe its just the particular threads I've looked at lately -- that's how it seems though.

I believe you when you say that's what motivated you to start that system, however I think if you look closely at how it's been "gamed", it appears to have become something a little different. It may keep links alive but an uploader or two figured out how to also make it into something that elbows out the other uploaders from competing while attempting to force you into premium accounts, especially when the OP is only offering 2 hosts that are dreadfully slow on free accounts. My point was that the less competition you have here between the uploaders, the more people will tend to look at links from other sites to find competition elsewhere. Let's face it, the more links that are available for a particular download, the greater the likelihood that people that are downloading will be able to find a link that works well for them.

Glad we got that straightened out, no need for bad blood over a simple misunderstanding. Honestly I run through a shitload of posts everyday and with 17 pages of comments something is bound to get fucked up somehow particularly when there's so much complaining and accusations flying around. I also find it fitting that we don't get Putlocker unless someone steps up, it just feels right somehow and illustrates where the human race is at. The way I look at it is that people get free software and a cool community to hang out at and most of us don't really contribute that much so we should be willing to have a little patience. The irony is that back in the day people would sell their mother for access like this. Cut to today where it's all there for everyone and people don't appreciate it, it's really baffling to me being old-school and all. People don't appreciate what comes easily, simple as that. The thing they forget is that it comes easily to them but not to everyone making it happen. Anyway glad we got that sorted and you have yourself a good day too.

You know I'm going to ask you just one question: are you willing to do it for no incentive? You can't hold people accountable for what you yourself wouldn't do, it's not right. Also as I'll point out again that money is funneled back into the system. The reality is that people have no idea about all the variables but yet they judge anyway. And the reason they do that is that we've grown accustomed to looking for the bad in everything. We're so much less tolerant these days and we have things better than ever in so many different ways. I saw this listed in an interesting article about why we're so miserable in the 21st century, I was trying to find it because it's a good read but I have so many links to things it's baffling.

Absolutely and the reason I even bother making those kinds of comments is I'm a back to basics kind of guy. I feel that all that is required to exit this infinite loop is to see this and make it a focus to try harder with that idea in mind. Incessant want makes you sick, gratitude sets you free. In one you're always poor looking for that next fix to make you whole and with the other you're always happy with what you have and therefore rich. Demands also ruin our relationships with people while gratitude forges them and in a community this doesn't work for long when they are grossly out of proportion.

Hmm... This might be a bit too complicated and not really a good or feasible approach to alleviating the situation but I'll post it anyway.

I'm guessing the majority of audioz residents do not have any premium accounts or have no more than 1 or 2 at most. I'll be flat out honest. I am one those who no longer have a premium acct. as my parents will no longer allow me to purchase one ever since we were unable to get a refund for both fileserve and megaupload. Also, my max download speed is only around 150 kb/s so they don't think paying for a service to increase the speed another 50% is worth it.

I was wondering if Audioz would ever consider the idea of allowing mandatory mirrors posted by members other than the OP for large content (3- gigs or larger only) so it wouldn't be limited to just UL and rapidgator? That way, if we were lucky, kind people like R Bolvari, Parcell, and other wonderful members who like re-uploading might post them on the faster free services in their spare time (only if they wanted to). Or maybe have the contributors post 1/3 of the content in which the links would have to include bitshare/putlocker (some kind of fast free service 120 kb/s+) and UL/rapidgator, along with any other service(s) of their choosing while the remaining 2/3 of the content would only consist of whatever services the OP chooses. That way, it wouldn't take away too much of their earnings while making it a little faster for people without premium accounts.

I know this is probably not a good idea but hopefully it could help sponsor something that might help resolve this without making too big of a compromise for the contributors and their efforts in giving us all this amazing free content :D! Hope this helps a little. Best regards!

to do so once an article has been up for 48hrs or more.

2. Implement suggestion 1 with a different time clause,
such as 24hrs, 72hrs, etc.

I'm reading your post, and while I don't have any problem with what you're suggesting, I do find myself kinda laughing away here at the idea that your parents won't let you get a premium acct, but otherwise they don't seem to have any problem with you downloading illegal material!

I never use file lockers to download anything. So I thought I'd check and see which ones work for me, just in case my world blows up and I have no other choice. I have to say that after 2 hrs of checking, rapidgator and UL work the best where I am at.
