This patch uses the xyz coordinates of a Strange Attractor chaotic system to modulate parameters from an FM synthesizer with resonant lowpass filter and flanger effects. Various different Strange Attractors are programmed in the gen~ patcher with codebox (such as the famous Lorenz Attractor). The attractor can be selected in the umenu and is displayed in the openGL domain using jit.catch~ and jit.gl.path, and also through 4 phase-correlation scopes showing the x-y, y-z, x-z and distance to origin of the signal. Listening to the pure modulation signal is also possible. The coordinates of the attractor are output from the gen~ as a 3-channel signal.

With this patch you can load a bunch of soundfiles from your harddrive and combine them into one long buffer~ with fluid.bufcompose~. Then slice them up into short sections with fluid.bufonsetslice~. Analyze every slice for there spectral content with fluid.bufmfcc~ and fluid.bufstats~ and get some statistics from it.

DC1A is the little brother of the compression monster DC8C. I've taken a few of my favorite settings from DC8C and tried to make it work in a two control context. Sound wise it's comparable to the PUNCH mode in DC8C but offers a few additional features, such as negative ratio and stereo unlink. I've always wanted to do a compressor with just an input and output knob, a compressor that just works: gentle, faithful, from almost invisible, smooth leveling to heavy pumping with a nice crunchy saturation and punchy enough to treat drums with.

The three-position timing switch not only controls the attack and release times of the unit, but also the slew rate of the transformers and the timing of the other parts of the circuitry, that are directly influencing the generated harmonics (saturation).
