I ear some pop noise during the playback and the video engine not work properly...
i downgrade to pt 11 ....

It seems to be a very good release

i have an iMac 8GB, 2.8GHZ, 64Bit with 8.1 Win installed. I installed Pro tools on win version but i'm having problems with it. Keeps saying, "not responding" it takes way too long to open or even load something or even to change a setting. worked fine at first but now i cant seem to solve this problem. Any ideas? I'm all out of options I've tried everything :( Also keep getting a msg saying, "Pro Tools ran out of CPU power. Try de-activating or removing Native plug-ins.(AAE-9173)"

@Cartiel: I've got the same problem on Win7. You can try to disconnect all external hard drives (which didn't help me). I recognized less "not responding" errors when setting down my buffer size from 2048 to 1024 (or lower). Good luck ;-)

Firstly - Happy New Year and Welcome to Audioz!

To be honest, even if you were running a legit mac version with those specs your system would struggle a bit.

I assume you're running windows through a Virtual Machine such as Parallels.. That is most likely the reason why it's not responding. Running any processor/ memory intensive applications through a VM is a recipe for the "beach ball".
It's not advisable to do any serious audio work this way.

Pro Tools 12 utilises all the system memory available and it needs a minimum of 4GB - even that isn't enough for me running it legit straight through my mac. Try setting Parallels memory usage higher, like 5 or 6 GB but bare in mind you're OSX is still operating underneath Parallels and that needs memory and processing power too.

Also, if you can, check Pro Tools System Usage That will tell you how much Ram Protools is using.
You might still be able to improve Windows performance by turning off all the fancy stuff:
Optimise Windows 10 but I don't know if it would work in a VM environment.

Failing that, I'm afraid to say you'll have to wait until someone decides to release a mac version.

Get rid of Quick Time. It happens the same to me, as I wanted to import an audio mp3 so I installed quick Time that's when the problem begun. I uninstalled quickTime and everything works perfectly again.
Loading of protrolls is slower than any other DAW however.

@Pete Frost thank you for your advice i have tried pretty much everything except lower my buffer size. Whats weird is it worked fine for a couple days then all of a sudden i started getting that "not responding" message. I have googled and looked up anything i could think of and no luck, had to downgrade to Pro Tools 10.3 but i would love to be on v12.4

I doubt it very much.

I'm sure AudioUTOPiA being the good guys that they are will release updated versions as and when they see fit. Just be happy with this one for now. I can't imagine there being much difference between the two.
However, If you know of any major changes or bug fixes in the latest version then by all means, post a request.

On a final note, Now that Avid have gone down the subscription route, expect to see regular minor updates. I can't imagine AudioUTOPiA will keep releasing those.

Hey Guys, I can't seem to launch pro tools. It just appears the logo of pro tools but the loading bar is not growing, it just stands still like a veggie. I don't know what to do anymore. If anyone is willing to help, i would be more than thankful. TY

Try uninstalling quicktime. For me that was the solution.

Hello, very good release , everything good , but :

When starting up Pro Tools 12 with Waves 9.30, after the "DAE Loading" screen an error message stating "AAF Library Initialization Failed" pops up followed by a message referencing the file C:\Program Files\Digidesign\Pro Tools\AAFCOAPI.dll.
someone have a solution?

I'm having a problem with this release: I've no sound! dunno
Win10 Pro x64
If I go to Pro Tools/Setup/Playback Engine, I select "Windows Audio Device" and then I've two possibilities in Output Device:
a) Digital Audio (S/PDIF) (2- High Definition Audio Device)
b) Speakers (2- High Definition Audio Device)
If I choose "a", there is no sound. If choose "b" Pro Tools restart the session to apply the changes, but "b" is not taken, it keeps the option "a".
Finally if I choose the ASIO4ALL driver, it crashes. dunno
So, any idea on this subject?

Well, it seems that everybody is willing to help here...
If somebody face the same problem. Here is the solution:
For some reason, this version of Pro Tools doesn't allow me to modify the Output Device, it takes as default the SPDIF output (what I can't change), which in my case is an "ATAPI Internal connector" an not used.
In order to force Pro Tools to take the "Speakers (2- High Definition Audio Device)" I had to disable the SPDIF in the Windows 10 System Sound.
Now I get sound from Pro Tools!

Yes, I know. I was using asio4all with Pro Tools 10.3.9.
Since version 12 is working with the windows audio controller I see no reason to use the asio driver, which might be good, but it's too slow and it doesn't make a huge difference in my needs.
And, as I have already said in my post, in my win 10 x64 under this version of Pro Tools, asio4all crashes.

"Pro Tools hardware is either not installed or used by another program"

Can someone perhaps explain to me why I'd use TransVST with AudioUTOPiA's "post process fix tool" over DDMF's Metaplugin or Blue Cat's Patchwork for example? Ideally obviously, you'd want to use the one most efficient at using system resources. Would that perhaps be one of the benefits? Thanks!
