I love it. I believe that's also true for REAPER users. this part of WINRAR's wiki entry is interesting.

It can not create RAR files. And I think RAR files are better because of high speed of extraction. I do not care about if it is compressed hard or not.

I find both to be great. Open Source is always respected.

Most of the files we download from Digital Ocean are in the WinRAR format, a reliable ship that never sinks.
Additionally, it can effortlessly handle 7Z, WinZip, and *.iso files.

I've never had any problems with my old password-locked files using WiNRAR.

It's fascinating how human beings determine what will or won't work in their lives. Remember how powerful WinZip was, yet WinRAR was hardly mentioned. It's important to note how treacherous life can be for some people. Microsoft integrated WinZip into its systems and the Microsoft Store, allowing users to open any compressed file without needing to install anything. Ironically, the path we chose was this remarkable WinRAR.

There is no such thing as 'winning team'. And frankly, RAR is avoided in many many places where ZIP and 7Z is used instead, mostly because it is NOT an open format, and also due to longtime association with piracy. And also not all ZIP programs support RAR - because - again - RAR is a closed and proprietary format. There are even ethical and consumer concerns - why would I store important data in RAR when 7Z is better supported by software other than WinRAR? And Linux users are also second class citizens when it comes to paid software. I do not like Windows - I am only forced to use Windows, I don't want further binds to this accursed platform, I have enough already.

RAR is also an aging format - 7z files are generally smaller. And they accomplish the same task.

If you do not need a premium feature of WinRAR (such as deleting files inside RAR etc.) then you are best avoiding it and using an open source alternative. But I will admit that WinRAR does have some nice features that other free programs can't do.

Yeah I find myself needing both as 7zip doesn't handle some rars properly but its great for everything else.
