I guess the winrar guys don't even care about people pirating it...
The German company (i think it is German)have made billions and billions, with 1 simple app.
These thread has 100'000 views. Let's say 1/3 use it. That makes 35'000 'pirates' from az. 35'000, compared to the hundreds of millions of legit users.... it's nothing.

Like the adblocker... one day, i donated 10 bucks, and i received an email, 'thank you, bla bla, that means a lot to me and my wife. . I left my job'...
One year later, i make another donation, like 10 bucks... i got an email, no longer manual, but an auto reply.

I checked their website, and noticed the company, GERMAN, had become a 100+ million euro company. ..with a ton of people developing new apps.
Useless to say.. i stopped the donations ;)

Like winrar... adblock...when one app is being used by hundreds of millions people... they stop caring.

Meanwhile,
If someone uses winrar 100 times a day, and has 10 or 20 bucks to waste, and want to feel good. .. buying winrar might be a good option :)

But then... those 20 bucks for winrar. .. the guy can buy great diva or Omnisphere sound bank, or a cheap discounted waves plugin...

FYI:

Chrome ver 74.0.3729.108 on Windows 8.1

If you download the file, Chrome on Windows is giving a message that the file is "dangerous". Because the has .zip extention, Chrome uses the builtin .zip capability in Windows to look inside the archive, sees the Keygen and issues a FALSE flag.

Chrome suspends the download with the option to "Discard" it. If you don't discard it, the file is left on the drive as a .crdownload file

That file can be renamed to a .zip file and it appears to work fine.

Repeat: the file is not dangerous.

Considering that most of the files listed here are RAR files, it makes sense to me that folks would want to get the latest version of one of the most essential utilities. There are thousands of audio files (Audioz ROCKS!) but only one WinRar.

I haven't seen this before with Chrome. I also haven't looked into why this is happening or whether there is a way to turn it off. It's also possible that the alert is being triggered by Windows Defender and Chrome is picking up on that but I don't know for sure. At least there's a way to get around it.

It's Chrome and nothing to do with Windows or Windows Defender. Been a part of Chrome for a while now so its odd you would just now experience this.

You have to disable "Safe Browsing" in Chrome's Privacy settings if you don't want to deal with it. Seems the most recent update makes it trigger more often.

if chrome finds it suspicious i don't want it. i do know how to disable safe browsing and windows defender ETC. i am concerned about the virus here. you guys didn't even used the word "false flag", i will pass on this :)

I did use the word "False Flag" in my first post. Chrome is flagging it because there's a keygen, even though the keygen doesn't contain any malware. It's safe, though of course you should do whatever you feel is best.

That happens, some get removed, some don't.
I installed this and all is well, also, this was uploaded by the Administrator of this site, so the chances of it containing a virus are zero to none.

It's super easy!
1- Uninstall the version you have installed. You need to reboot windows.
2-Install the new version (note that the 32-bit version is called wrar580.exe and the 64-bit version winrar-x64-580.exe)
3-Execute the WinRAR.v5.01_KEYGEN-FFF.exe file as administrator. In the window that says Name: SEVEN I wrote the name you want. Then you press the Generate button and a couple of pop-up windows will appear. Enter everything and go!

Es super fácil!
1- Desintalá la versión que tengas instalada. Necesitás rebootear windows.
2-Instalá la nueva versión (fijate que la versión de 32 bits se llama wrar580.exe y la de 64 bits winrar-x64-580.exe)
3-Ejecutá el archivo WinRAR.v5.01_KEYGEN-FFF.exe como administrador. En la ventana que dice Name: SEVEN escribí el nombre que quieras. Luego presionas el botón Generate y te van a aparecer un par de ventanas emergentes. Dale Enter a todo y listo!
