Native Instruments Noire v1.0.0 KONTAKT-SYNTHiC4TE screenshot
SYNTHiC4TE | March 26 2019 | 14.4 GB
Native Instruments has announced the release NOIRE, a new Kontakt instrument that captures the signature grand piano sound of composer and pianist Nils Frahm.

The instrument – which includes both pure and felt preparation versions of a Yamaha CFX 9’ concert grand – was meticulously sampled in the rich ambient environment of Saal 3 in Berlin’s Funkhaus recording complex.

The result is a unique, intense, and evocative instrument, with an atmosphere all of its own.
Two distinct sample sets – pure and felt

NOIRE offers new sonic inspiration for solo compositions, scoring, and more, with two distinct grand piano sample sets.

The pure version presents the clear, unadulterated tone of Nils Frahm’s handpicked and custom-intonated concert grand piano, captured in a renowned recording studio.

The felt version is the same piano, in the same room, but with a felt moderator between hammers and strings, which creates a gentle tone with reduced attack.

Users can sculpt the sound of both versions by adjusting attack, release, resonance, overtones, velocity curve, temperament, and more.
Extensive creative customization options

NOIRE provides a wide array of creative options so users can make the sound their own.

Users can add natural and mechanical noises to enhance realism, dial in sub bass, alter the spectral character of the instrument, and choose from sound design effects to completely transform the instrument’s sound.

NOIRE also offers EQ, compression, reverb, and delay for fine-tuning the piano’s place in the mix.

To help spark new creative ideas, NOIRE incorporates an innovative particles engine that automatically generates clouds of pulsating, swirling harmonic elements based on what users play.

Version 6.0.4 or higher

Wow that was fast! Thank you Horsemen + Synthic4te.
Come here just to try the software and buy it afterwards.
If I don't like the software I will just DELETE it.

The question is: are we gonna' betray/cheat on Alicia Keys for this guy?

NOIRE is kinda experimental stuff while Alicia Keys is more a pop/soul piano.
Check the particle section of NOIRE!

Let me answer my own question. No, Alicia's reign is safe.
Checked the first video and when the guy said he is from Galaxy Instruments, I started to smile because immediately knew why the sound(scape) was so familiar. Yes, it is probably a refurbished Galaxy piano library. Now, after the SF story I'm not going to dig in it this time, trying to find evidences with an old library because nobody cares (including me).
If other companies follow SF in this manner, recycling old samples modifying their timbre with sparkling new effects, bells and whistles that's not a good sign though. It suggests that this market is getting saturated or less profitable to invest in brand new, fresh recordings.
I've never been impressed with Galaxy pianos, always sounded thin, less characteristic. No wonder why they always had an extra layer with a pad sound in their piano libraries. It's cool but at the end of the day it's boring and not giving a better option than an older digital piano that most studios already have.
This particles thingy doesn't seem a big deal either. It's just a modulation effect that you can reproduce with a reverb plugin like Reverberate. And again, it sounds cool but boring if you put it in more songs.
These developers try to make the most possible advantage from their sources, with these effects, sometimes in a quite intelligent way. I don't deny it.
But all of these efforts are shifting music creation from the focus on the song, the movements, harmony to the mode of interpretation, the effects. Music, just like everything else in our society is shifting badly to a superficial way of living.
Remember, overly used effects become boring, just like an overly played hit.
Real music is what never stops evolving but in the same time it keeps respectfully following its harmonic principles in music theory, based on physics.

What a whole load of BS
Think of using non periodic rhythm patterns in your music

no, actually, he's right, at least in regard of the musical aspect.

not only keyscape can do the the same ( or even way better imo ), but at one point, you will end up wanting to separate your sources ( dry piano / FX sends / parallel layers ) during the mixing process.

His main point is that Noire reuse samples and just add effects and in this case it is clearly a whole lot of BS. Do a fact check first.

My main point was that Galaxy pianos always sound thin, lacking dynamics and character therefore those always come with an extra layer of pad. I said I don't care if they reused old samples. I just expressed my concern about a tendency.
Fact check after reading first.

Not to mention the immense waste of storage capacity as these libraries add up quickly at this size! And considering more and more users have migrated to SSD storage, that capacity comes at a premium. Nobody wants the same sample data disguised as something new, tricked by a fancy GUI and/or particular gimmick like a particle engine.

I still gotta download it though.

why not be a trysexual musical slut and use both alicia keys and noire? i have a feeling they're both poly and would love to inappropriately touch each other's frequencies in the same song.. at the end of the day, open-relationships creatively-minded speaking let's more musical ideas come through...
make music, not walls.

Yay more pianos This one has a particles engine. Makes it a different sounding library than the rest. but looks like it’s going to be a laggy GUI interface in fl studio 20 but the sound is amazing. Can’t wait to try

OMG!! Amazing! I'm in love with una corda and this seems just incredible. Watching the videos, it's similar concept but man, this particle engine looks mind blown. Please Native instruments, WE NEED THAT PARTICLE ENGINE HOW INDEPENDENT PLUGIN YET!
Thank you horsemen

I was just about to enter a request! And... Zac!
This piano reminds me another gourgeous piano I bought some times ago: Woodchester Piano by Fracture Sounds.

Thx Horsemen & SYNTHiC4TE. Kind of interesting development of piano, bit different to the usual endless pia out there, for once! I hope that NI can add their particles to every officially released / licensed lib, would be exciting to hear the tech used elsewhere like others have said.
