Just downloaded to find out he is doing Future Bass - so this is not really a Pop track he is making. Way to specific with these supersaws in terms of the style and the elements he uses are really basic.
And no vocals on that track, 95% of successful pop tracks have vocals. So when they call it "pop" they should at least add some of the stuff that stands for pop.

POP = Vocals
Music in POP = 0

Vocals must be in employment of music not vice versa. In POP, music is immolated for the vocals' sake. Maybe the POP listener doesn't understand the music at all.

Well I think vocals are music. Not sure what you mean. And Pop always had an focus on vocals and the instrumentals where more ore less build around them to support the vocals. Its like in mixing, you can`t turn every instrument and sound up to the full volume, otherwise you get an chaotic mix. That is the same with vocal heavy music, to stand out other stuff must be less loud/important.

I'm not talking about the mixing process.

Music in POP is usually so bad. Again not talking about the mixing quality. Music in POP is not artistic. POP singers yell and the music just accompanies their yelling.

This is my privileges from 1 to 3 in order:
1- Good music
2- Good lyrics specially storytelling version
3- Good Vocals

If the number 1 is satisfied, probably I would not care much about the 2 and 3.

But this happens in POP:
1- Not so good Vocals
2- Bad lyrics
3- Music is not important at all. The same thing exists in the vocal based EDM.





Again I'm saying that POP listeners don't understand the music. They just want to find sth to hum with it.

This is definitely true for a lot of pop songs. But there is so much music out there, there is such a big difference between speed metal, classical music, jazz or underground house. They all make people feel differently. Pop is mainly just something that is easy to listen to, complicated chord progressions or improvisations would make it impossible to layer vocals over it and it would be impossible to listen to that while you drive or do you laundry. So pop has to be simple, because it is intended to be simple (but catchy) music. I kind of understand why you hate against pop, but in my opinion it is music like many other styles out there (that I sometimes don`t get but also respect) - just trying to show you how I see it.

What do you expect from Academy FM tutorials ?
I've no idea if the education in their tutorials is any good. I can't stay awake or interested for 2 minutes. They all sound like they sold all their gear and they can't even go busking so if this doesn't work out they'll be selling the computer and camera for this week's rent
