Yeah, I found this yesterday. Didn't work for me then, still doesn't work for me now. I assume that whatever it is that causes the e-Licenser installation helper to fail is what also causes this to fail.

I didn't get overly excited when I found it, because the forum I found it in had people saying it didn't work for them either.

1. Have you tried to uninstall the VR fake licenser completely?
Because it lets traces and files everywhere, the best way is to use Revo Uninstaller.

2. Then, verify that your C:\ProgramData\Synchrosoft folder is empty. If it's not, then move everything elsewhere. Or delete the folder completely, if not already done (and empty your recycle bin).

3. Then try to install the last version of the official eLicenser Control center (important!) launch the setup as admin.

Note that eLicenser needs to be connected to install! Verify that you are not already blocking it with your hosts file or with your firewall?

You must know that most AVs have the neat tendency to Quarantine everything that is in C:\Program Files (x86)\eLicenser, that's a false positive, and eLicenser needs to have access to this folder to function! So the best way is to deactivate momentarily your AV.

Better: delete this folder completely (empty your bin) then deactivate you AV / Firewall, just during the time of the eLicenser installation.

Later, you'll perhaps have to exclude this folder from your AV's investigation!

4. Then use the command line empty sel file creation detailed here.

5. Now go to your C:\ProgramData\Syncrosoft folder, there should be a file called seLicenser.sel, this is it! Now you're ready to install.

6. If it's not already done, install now all the apps, presets and samples libraries you want, you can download them manually using the txt file in the VR release, or you can use the official ST. Download Assistant. You can also go to the support section of the ST. site and click on "downloads" in the middle of the page.

(Note: the libraries / presets need "St. Library Manager" application (normally installed with plugins like Halion, or with the download assistant, just verify that it is actually installed)

(At this moment, precisely, if you really want, you could install the VR Absolute (b23) release, but beware! Many legit users are blacklisted by ST. precisely because they have tried to mix the VR licenses with their buyed, legit licenses, or have tried to transfer the VR licenses on their dongle... never do that, never!)

7. Run the AiR keygen as admin.

8. Now you can block eLicenser Control with your firewall, reactivate your AV, and start enjoying the plugins!

4.) Yeah, done this, This is just a variant on the command that gets run by elc-installation-helper.exe -- Steinberg's specialist app for people having this problem. You can see the output of running this command in a log file at
C://Program Data/eLicenser/Logs/20210901-195429_eLC_Installation.log

It throws up a couple of errors for me. Fails to install VC_redist_x64.exe, but I think the critical one is the SYSNOPOS.exe command you refer to above.

Here's the part of the log that I think is critical:

5. So, I don't get a working SeLicenser.sel file. Either I get the old disallowed one, or I don't get one at all.

6. I can run the keygen and it'll register the application, but without a working Selicenser.sel file, it just won't run.

I need to install the Steinberg Library manager first to install the plugins and content ( downloaded it from the VR textfile).
The plugins work but the content do not show up in Halion (Triebwerk, Darkplanet, TR kits) and Retrologue (Analog House, Dark Mass, Futere Bass, Vintage Classics....) only the factory
content 1 & 2 show up.

Usually, the libraries and presets ( = files with the extension .vstsound) for Halion are here:

"C:\ProgramData\Steinberg\Content\HALion\VST Sound"

Or, for the more general / global libraries:

"C:\ProgramData\Steinberg\Content\VST Sound"

Search at these two places if the libraries you have DLded are here, then if you found them, just double-click on one of them.

The Library Manager loads automatically, and normally all the *.vstsound who are in the same folder are registered too, you'll don't have to dble-click on each one of them.

If they are all already registered, Lib. Manager say to you: "No actions performed"

Then, go to the second folder indicated and try to register all the libraries in there too.

If you have the same problem but with other plugins, just go back to:

C:\ProgramData\Steinberg\Content

You will see that each plugin have its individual folder, go inside, then inside the "VST Sound" folder, here you will find their libraries and presets.

Thanks Earth33 for the explanation.

All the libraries are in the right directory and registered but don't show up in the plugins. Don't know what i'm missing.

I think there is a little button inside Halion to rescan all the libraries, it looks like a little incomplete circle near the list of the presets, I think...?

Komplete Kontrol gived "can not connect POS" with groove agent during the first scan.
it load only:
halion
halion sonic
the grand
retrologue
padshop

backbone is not seen without license error message.

the load result is very variable.
rescan change nothing.

POS is part of eLicenser, it seems there is a big problem to have full access to the folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\eLicenser\POS

Perhaps a windows security measure, or a problem with AV / Firewall or... The vastness of my ignorance cannot answer you directly here...

If you have installed VR before, it is better to clean up everything first because the SYNSOPOS / synsoaccess patched files installed by the VR b23 are systematically quarantined by windows.

The best is to clean up everything from all traces of VR, and then reinstall the eLicenser, then create a new, empty seLicenser.sel with the method you know, Normally there is no need to reinstall all the plugins, apps and libraries, but I can't know for sure.

If ever you wanna absolutely reinstall VR, do it before using the AiR kgen. Personally I don't need the VR release anymore, but i know it's indispensable if you wanna use all the "Elements" apps + a loads of libraries that are not covered by the AiR license.

Last advice (not especially for you, but for everyone):

If you have installed the VR release, never try to play with the licenses, like transfer them to your dongle, etc. Several people have seen their dongle blacklisted by ST.

(= completely blocked, if there is a legit license, it continues to work, but impossible to update or to transfer it again, or to add new licenses.)

I have many reasons to think that ST. have now the means to detect VR licenses, soon perhaps it will be the case for this release too, it's why it's better, after installation, to block totally the eLicenser with your firewall.

From time to time , but rarely, I also experience same error message like
" Connection to POS is lost, bla bla bla"

What you need to do in that case is

1. Just shut down the apps and in Task Manager KILL -eLCC - POS or Protected Object Server processes reload apps again and they should reconnect to POS and it should work.

2.If that doesn't help, just uninstall eLCC - reboot - install it again.

This issue is not related to licenses themselves but you are doing something wrong which forces that error and is a common error with eLCC , it is not just happening to you.

So, for the gals and guys that are still interested to mix the VR release with this one, thanks to Hennessey I can tell you a thing that will greatly improve your security, (and everything that have this power makes me happy! ): the VR b23 installation can be performed entirely offline!!!

I was very confused about this one in particular, because on my comp I saw several attempt of connection during installation, but in fact it appears that all this b23 installation process can be done entirely offline, which is an excellent news, and for some users that have a dongle, this simple precaution can avoid them being blasklisted!!!

EDIT: What I was told, is that it's better to use VR first, then AIR, in this order exactly. Please don't ask me why, I'm not tech savvy enough to have any clue in understanding the inner mechanisms, sorry!

For the few people here who are interested to mix both licenses (VR +AiR), just try, and if you can, report here so that other users can see if it's OK for them or not. Thank you!

Okay, so I installed when it first came out (moved the old .sel to the desktop, ran ElCC, no soft E, only my dongle with my legit licences, ran this one, plugged dongle back in, all my legit stuff working as expected, the Absolute 5 licence on my new soft E, but everything I had downloaded previously such as all the Groove Agent expansions, all the Iconica stuff, that still works and loads up. So have they added EVERYTHING into the licences for Halion and GA??? I only realised after that the stuff was authorised by VR but it is still working! Running ElCC doesn’t show them parts as trial licences, loading them up doesn’t say “you have xxx hours and minutes of the trial remaining”, so not sure what is happening here. Not complaining though!

Hey, sorry for my late answer, I'm not in this topic very often anymore...

The unique licence generated by the AiR kgen works with ALL the instruments included in Absolute collection: this include of course GA, Halion, The Grand, Backbone, Retrologue, Padshop... and many libraries, like Dark Planet and Iconica for example, but not all of course.

So these instruments and libraries included are fully registered and will not bother you anymore.

But of course some libraries, presets and programs are only covered by the VR license, like the "Elements" apps for example.

If you already have a DAW working and if the libraries included are sufficient for you, then you don't need to install VR anymore.

To be complete, you have to know that some samples libraries included in VR release exist already as Kontakt libraries, like "Mimi Page" or "Voice of Wind Adey".

This license is only for Absolute 5 (plugins + libraries), it doesn't cover any Cubase version.

If you see "Cubase Elements" in your licenser then it means that you have also installed VR b23 which covers only Elements versions (not Pro) + a lot of different libraries and presets.

No, what you can find here or on torrents are buggy or incomplete versions of Pro that almost work with the VR b23, but the fact is that the dongle have not been cracked, and no dongle = no working Pro versions.

The only way to have a 100% working Pro version (with the Delay Compensation*), is to buy it at STbrg.

* The Delay Compensation (DC) is the most indispensable, and the most heavily protected function of ST. Pro DAWs. No one have managed to break this heavy protection yet.

Since the AiR 5.1 version years ago, the protection have greatly evolved, and became almost impossible to break. They have reinforced the vault, which became impossible to pierce, even with the most powerful drill available.

We'll see what happens, of course we can never know...?

In the meantime, Cub.Elements works perfectly, I use it everyday, rock-solid, no problem!

Yes, Elements 11 is what I use everyday because it's perfectly stable, there are not the strange bugs and instabilities, and the absence of delay compensation I faced when I tested the different versions of patched C.pro.

(whatever the version is, each time I find the same glitches and CPU spikes, because it is exactly the same patch that is applied, version after version).

If you want some functions of pro but without the instabilities, you could try the excellent VR's Elements Extended. It is a patched version of Elements, with unlimited track number, Ara working, etc...

All of that depends heavily on your particular configuration, you should test first then decide by yourself.
