When other DAWs release a new major version every 2 or 3 years you pay an upgrade price. With Bitwig it's just a yearly recurring price (which goes on sale twice a year). Depending on the release cycles and the upgrade price for other DAWs this more or less results in the same cost over time.

Additionally, If your Bitwig subscription runs out and there's no new features developed that you care about you can just stick to the Bitwig version you have until new features are being developed that you do care about and still only pay the yearly upgrade cost, effectively reducing the cost.

Ableton Live v9 to v10 took 5 years, and in that case Ableton is definitely the more cost effective solution. On the other hand: they got a lot of critique that long requested features never made it into Live 9 during that long 5 year cycle. You were not paying anything but not getting anything either.

Just to say that it is a bit more nuanced than calling the Bitwig guys 'greedy'. But you are allowed to have your own opinion, for sure :)

Bleep started here, after one week , no content download, no demo songs, every day I tested a boot-up and some time playing with it, today it bombed. So for me it hasn't to do with library or demo songs.
Windows 8.1 here.
