ok, did the cleanest install, and it's working now.
HOWEVER there are some nasty bugs, like record button doesn't switch off with hilarious results. i don't think i 'll jump ship form ableton just yet :)

I bought the software about a year ago because it's just that good. Just wait for it to go on special pricing for $300. It's worth every cent for this DAW.

WHAT'S good about it? MIDI implementation, efficient workflow, well-written code(minimal bugs and crashes), included virtual instruments/audio fx, level of connectivity to midi controllers, efficient CPU usage, DAW education(tutorials, forums, publications), large USABLE feature set, support(responsive coders that QUICKLY address bugs, limitations, and requests), etc.?

I usually ONLY use VI's for instruments, so I LIVE in the NATION of MIDI and therefore I'm DEAD without a good event lister and other essential midi tools. If this DAW has BLOCK view available for editing(in addition to CLIP and AUTOMATION views, of course), then I'd download this IMMEDIATELY. When editing a track in BLOCK view, instead of seeing CLIPS of audio or MIDI to copy, move around, or delete, you see BLOCKS of time of what value you determine. So for example, if I choose "1 Bar" as the value of time, then I see a BLOCK for every 1 bar on that track AND I see the audio or midi that's contained in each BLOCK if any exists. I can ONLY select the BLOCKS in this view and NOT the audio or midi. This eliminates the need for me to determine the selection coordinates of the audio or midi that I want to manipulate because I can just grab the BLOCK(S) that contain the audio or midi and when I move it/them to where I desire, the relationship between the BLOCK(S) and the actual music(audio or midi) contained in it/them is maintained.

So again to recap, WHAT'S good about Bitwig and does it have BLOCK view in the track edit window?

I can say Reaper is far better than Studio One thingy... but who cares..!!

Different People, different workflows, different requirements, different opinions. I will keep Ableton and Bitwig over Studio One anytime. But Bitwig/Ableton + Studio One is a Killer Combo.

Same result here, I played with this about 3/4 hours , with open network, I wanted selected packs to download, meanwhile I kept working on it, not a problem as of yet. Not using any demo songs at all, no blips...Windows here. I am passing my Mac side this time.

First of all THANK you iND for this excellent release! Because I read comments about the "random metronome bleeps" and how this is proof of bad crack I thought it would be nice to load one of the files that produce these bleeps on BitWig 3 from UNFU on Linux. Ubuntu 19.04 with all updates. Guess what? Same random metronome bleeps!!! The demo file I tried was 'InCircles'. So I assume that this file has something that is not working ...quite well with the reversed engineered version of BitWig ( both Linux and Windows ? Hmmmm.... ) or the file itself is broken. I saw a comment by a user who stated that he-she has the full version. It would be nice to load this exact file and report if there are random bleeps! I find it hard though both Windows and Linux versions ( cracked ) to miss the same checks and to produce the same glitches in both operating systems.
I am playing with BitWig for several hours now. Especially with The Grid. Actually The Grid is the main reason I am trying BitWig now. I never encountered bleeps or anything else... Not in Windows, not in Linux...

One of the things that has always bothered me about Bitwig is that it doesn't actually work with my firewall (Tinywall). The audio engine won't start while the firewall is operational and you have to disable the firewall to get it to run. Shame, because I've always really wanted to like it.

I also get the annoying random bleeping on InCircles and the Synth template. Everything else seems fine though/

Get the latest BitDefender Total Security. Your problem will be gone AND you'll have the BEST total Internet security package available. BUY it, as I don't recommend using warez for your security, Internet or otherwise.

BitDefender Total Security is very heavy its a god damn cpu eater. i have tried almost all anti viruses and firewalls.

BEST CHOICE FOR BLOCKING and PREVENTING ALL PROGRAMs AND PORTs OR .DLLs TO CALL HOME IS COMODO FREE FIREWALL.

That's strange! I'm not sure why you have this problem I'm a long time TinyWall user and I never had any problems with any versions of BitWig including 3.0 on my Win10 machine.

I was having exactly the same issue with Ableton as well. The app just wouldn't run if the firewall (Tinywall) was blocking it. I could take my computer offline and it would run fine, but if the firewall was blocking any of Bitwig or Ableton's .exe files, it just wouldn't run.

So yesterday, I switched to Comodo Internet Security Premium. Free firewall, antivirus, Sandbox and Host Based Intrusion Prevention. What a fantastic free app it is. And both Ableton and Bitwig run perfectly, even though they're being blocked in the Firewall.

I should have taken your advice much sooner. Thanks, deadfox.

why are people in the thread trying to compare Bitwig to Studio One?
I didn't realize, other than both being DAWs, they were that comparable.
Most people id imagine compare Bitwig with Ableton, not Studio One.
I havent used S1, but by all accounts its a solid DAW, so i must be missing something with the need to compare with Bitwig?

i get the strange beeps only when i use omnisphere. other than that, perfect. very kraftwerk-like daw

it all comes down to the workflows you enjoy and what you are using the DAW for. S1, Bitwig, Reaper, Ableton all have insanely good features and are all very very good. I like Bitwig because of the way it organizes my VST and I have literally 1000s of them so this is important to me. I also like how easy it is to edit recordings. Bitwig has come a long way but it is still the baby of them all. Use what works for you
