Amber 3 EQ
The Amber3 EQ is available in both mono and stereo versions. Both include the same controls, but Amber EQ Stereo also features extra functionalities to help facilitate your workflow.

Amber 3 Pre
The Amber 3 Pre features several super-reliable preamplifiers that will gently warm up to your sound, just like the corresponding real circuits on the original hardware. (Also available inside the channel strip.)

The plugins are not sounding right at 48kHz especially with the Preamp ON. Try high shelf boost at 10kHz +4db

Reaper users use the FX instance OS 2X and hear the difference. Use track with extended high end content. It's not just nuances, sounding like the filtering is fucked up.
Check under Bertom EQ Curve too.
Remember to Stop and Play upon changing oversampling and close GUI to get the right result/readings.

Non-Reaper user can use Bluecat Patchworks. Load any Amber plugin on it, click on the name and select Oversampling, run it at 96kHz and hear the real sound of this plugin.

Settings : +2db @ 50Hz, +1db @ 1.3kHz, +4db @ 10kHz

- the top image showing the right curve for the settings, when the plugin run at 2X OS (96kHz)
- the bottom image is when using it without OS at 48kHz

I think the filtering is faulty when running it at 48kHz, or maybe R2R can just set the internal processing sample rate of the plugin to 96kHz if possible ?

GUI is HARD TO USE. Sound not sure how because i have never seen a real avalon EQ or COMP to AB. If You already have good saturuation, EQ and COMP then this is no use.

For my Quick workflow this is a pass.

i have the hardware (special black edition), and belive me the pres are good for record, very low distiortion (very very low) you need press higain button to apreciate a minimal distorsion with high levels . this Software have toons of distorsion.
The software is good, capture the esence, compresor is very nice. But the air band in software is not comparable with hardware. Hardware is laike silk . . . this is very hard . . .
but for the price and usable,maybe is better this software. You can run lots of instances.
My workflow is : insert plugin with routing to hardware, eq and comp track, and bounce to new track (there is no undo or recall)
Often i let the he hardware in voice track or snare or the most complex thing in the song to have more time to decide . . .

The hardware you have is the Avalon 737 (a tube preamp and comp with solid state EQ), Amber is based on completely DIFFERENT Avalon hardware: The AD2022/M5 pre, AD2055 EQ (very different than the 737 EQ) And AD2044 compressor. All of which are solid state and sound different than the 737

So your comparison unfortunately mistaken.

I own both the Avalon 737 (I have a black one too) and the AD2022, and used to own the AD2055 EQ. Amber was close enough for me to sell my AD2055. It sounds just like the hardware.

Nothing special, and the ZL ( zero latency I presume) ones are using more CPU, which is strange

Not strange since all ZL versions are near ZeroLatency, so they require a a lot more computing power.
