Acustica Audio Amber 3 2023-R2R screenshot
Team R2R | 20 Nov 2023 | 338.8MB
Amber 3 offers an accurate reproduction of an original class A optical compressor, plus a redesigned version of an iconic EQ and preamp created by a celebrated American company.

A Class-A Legend
Amber's compressor offers an accurate reproduction of an original class A opto compressor manufactured in the USA. We went great lengths to preserve the distinctive character of the original hardware unit, as well as its transparent musicality.

Amber 3 EQ
The Amber3 EQ is available in both mono and stereo versions. Both include the same controls, but Amber EQ Stereo also features extra functionalities to help facilitate your workflow.

Amber 3 Pre
The Amber 3 Pre features several super-reliable preamplifiers that will gently warm up to your sound, just like the corresponding real circuits on the original hardware. (Also available inside the channel strip.)

A witch says,

Amber is Modeled after the Avalon AD series (Not the 737 channel strip)

The following devices are emulated:
AD2055 (Stereo EQ)
AD2022 (pre)
AD2044 (compressor)

When amber was originally released it only modeled the AD2055 EQ, which is highly regarded in the industry as a secret weapon, mainly for the high shelf. I owned both the AD2022, and AD2055. I compared Amber to the AD2055 EQ and decided it was close enough to sell my hardware AD2055.

Amber 2's GUI was much better. It was laid out just like the original hardware, when amber 3 came out they screwed up the GUI and went with the weird fantasy alien hybrid look. I wish R2R would have released Amber 2 as well.

Anyway, for those who have experience with the AD2055 know what this is modeling, it does sound like the hardware, but as a legit user of Acustica products since Nebula 2, I agree that Aquarius is annoying and Acustica's plugins are insanely bloated as f*ck.

Guys please, Maybe somebody knows how to install it on Mac?
Cause they said
"Our decrypted library is macOS compatible if you know how to! We are lazy
witches and we don't release 100+ products for macOS. Too time consuming"

Look at Audiosex, there is a thread about that.

quote by Fudsey PlangeThe files are so 'king large because the underlying technology is a form of Impulse Responses derived from the hardware being emulated, so you can have Gigabytes of data for any given emulation.

Not to mention every single thing of everything consist 4 versions 44.1,48, 88,96kHz version of the same thing.

It's a great compressor, I really love it, but like everything from Acustica Audio, it takes up almost all of the CPU.
If you only look at one side of the coin, you'll never truly know if it's a coin.

My experience with Acustica Audio:

I was a legit user of Sand and Pink and their sound, which was just fine and not “game-changing", wasn’t worth their sluggish GUIs and workflows. Turning a knob wasn’t immediate, bypassing and switching wasn’t instantaneous either. In other words, they were impossible to work quickly with. I stopped using them in favor of PA and Softube.

I’m eager to test those R2R versions though. They certainly can’t be worse than the legit ones.

Bad plug, Kazrog has a better Avalon, if it interests someone. Anyway, Thanks R2R for R2Reding this scam company

the plugin is not running properly. There's a problem somewhere. Try running it at 96kHz (2x OS) using Reaper FX instances Oversampling if you use Reaper or else just Bluecat Patchworx and right click at run the plugin at 96kHz. That's the sound of this plugin.

There seems to be some filtering error when using it at 48kHz. It does sound like shit because of it. Change to 96kHz you'll get what I mean. Not sure if it's the plugin problem or R2R crack problem for now. Still investigating.

Here's the screenshot : Amber
Settings : +2db @ 50Hz, +1db @ 1.3kHz, +4db @ 10kHz

- the top image showing the right curve for the settings, when the plugin run at 2X OS (96kHz)
- the bottom image is when using it without OS at 48kHz

Not really running at 48K here, but the sound of preamp sounded weak to me. They seem to break so easy and distort strange, not in a pleasant way. BC of that i didn't dig the EQ or Comp

use the Compensated Input Trim knob and see the response of the graphic, if it's moving too much, it's being pushed and goes into compression/distortion. All these AA plugins are calibrated to run optimally at -18 dBfs = 0 dBu. Old plugins like this one has terrible implementation of it. Sending it signal too hot will break it real quick. AFAIK, Amber is the most subtle preamp of all compared to other AA preamps. At optimal settings the difference between each preamp are sooo small. But of course if you know what you're doing and doesn't like it, it's fine too.

while i am an acustica fan, i have to agree on this one. kazrog's is great. especially the compressor. Amber is one of my least favorite offerings from acustica. although i did buy it.

as much hate as AA gets.. which they deserve. a select few of their Acqua plugins really do out perform algo plugs. especially the third party nebula libs. One example is AA Ash. A mentor of mine who is a well respected ME, claims it beats Kclip and Standard clip every time. rare for him to say. he does a blind test ofc gain staged and double checks all the plugin doctor stuff. in other words he's the real deal for mastering. but ya AA can suck a big one lol..

Come here just to try the software and buy it afterwards.
If I don't like the software I will just DELETE it.

Bought legit and deleted when Kazrog's Avalon plugin came out. AA plugins are "alright", but they're overrated, filled with ridiculous bloat, and the company cares more about quantity and churning out plugins at high-speed over optimizing their stuff
