FideliQuest FiDef Plugin v1.0.20-R2R screenshot
Team R2R | 2021.02.10 | 13.6 MB
FiDef employs a highly specialized, patented process to create a custom noise profile that is tightly correlated to the source audio. The noise layer is sub-audible, but FiDef makes use of a phenomena that exploits the brain’s ability to make use of sub-audible noise to enhance the interpretation of sound.

The noise layer also survives the encoding process to lossy formats, ensuring mixes uploaded to popular streaming services retain the sonic characteristics of the full resolution source.

is this the one in the new MAAT EQblue ?
It makes no sense to say you’re not good at it. It’s like saying, “I’m not good at being a monk.” You are either living as a monk or you’re not.

From Their Site:
The first thing most engineers hear is a decongestion of the overall mix. Each element in your mix will seem to sit better alongside other elements, brining the entire mix into a more musical, balanced focus. Here are common experiences from engineers using FiDef:
Definition and Detail,Musical Balance, Intelligibility, Soundstage Width and Depth, Emotional Engagement.

It's like hiring children from the other side of the world to write a piece of paper in big letters that says "the mix of customer # xxxx is better now", then fold it into an envelope, and send it to Santa Claus. You can't see it, it's subvisual. But it definitely does something, and it survives the encoding process to lossy formats!

It sounds like it basically does the same thing as dithering.

For example, I've looked at spectrograms of mp3/m4a encodings done directly from 32 or 24 bit sources, and compared them to encodings done of the same sources, but converted to 16 bit with dithering first. If the dithering adds inaudible noise in the 16 khz - 20 khz range, more of the high spectrum is retained on a mp3/m4a encoding. I've compared different dithering applications and I get the best results with foobar2000.

I guess it would be interesting to compare it to this.

I achieve this by using 3000bucks/meter loudspeaker cables.

a saturator maybe, however if you need a good result, buy a high quality hardware is a real solution.

must be used on 2bus or individual tracks?

Apparently on the master, if you do not have the plugin, you can send them your track and they will process it for you for $1 each minute.

If just one instance of it does such miraculous results... I can only dream about how extraordinarily unbelievably amazingly beautifully nice your mix with 73 instances must be sounding.

I really can't tell if it makes things worse or better, on drums it creates way too much noise (which makes it unusable on whole mix as well, at least for me). Maybe synths or other instruments can benefit from it, but you really should be able to tinker with all kinds of knobs and dials in this kind of plugin. Even simple wet/dry knob would be a good start lol

Value proposition: $99 and you don't know what it does. Great marketing...not.
