FideliQuest FiDef Plugin v1.0.20-R2R screenshot
Team R2R | 2021.02.10 | 13.6 MB
FiDef employs a highly specialized, patented process to create a custom noise profile that is tightly correlated to the source audio. The noise layer is sub-audible, but FiDef makes use of a phenomena that exploits the brain’s ability to make use of sub-audible noise to enhance the interpretation of sound.

The noise layer also survives the encoding process to lossy formats, ensuring mixes uploaded to popular streaming services retain the sonic characteristics of the full resolution source.

It sort of does the opposite of what mp3, aac does. Instead of filtering out harmonics it adds more.

Trespassing Nyquist frequency, by the way.

for just wet signal and hearing what is plugin doing:
make 3 track and group 2 of them
in one of the group's track insert the plugin and invert the phase of it
the group is now the wet signal and you can hear and add it to the third track
in Ableton, it's easily done with a rack.

Spreads from 20Hz-20kHz and does not seem shaped. Happens within ~.3 dB range, pretty louder than average 16-bit dithering noise. Creates rude notches on sine waves peaks easily seen on oscilloscope on all frequencies, so it must be working on fine-graining distortion principle, artificially increasing the hearable data content (like declippers do). (Metaphorically speaking - 'scratching the peaks').
Nothing to do with sub consciousness.
Measuring data support this assumption:
THD and IMD are extremely high (-48dB and --33 dB respectively). Total distortion being appalling @6.37%.
So it necessarily 'changes the mood' by distortion and also impairs the sound definition a bit.

or... use any plugin thats older than 30 years and achieve the same distortion

This sounds like pure shit.. WTF. Seriously, it adds kind of reverb-noise thingy.... Why would you want to do that to your whole mixes!?!?

That's true. It's because R/L noise is rendered with a phase shift. So you get also non-wanted stereo offset.
By the way, one should discern saturation and distortion:
Saturation vs Distortion
And...
How does it look?.

I remember the magic button "phase" on the uad precision multi compression plugin ;) hehehe!

So it's a white-ish noise generator with an envelope follower that somehow requires 1764 samples of latency.
What have they patented, exactly?

For only 99 dollars, you too can totally destroy your audio track and make it sound just as bad as any overly distorted, recycled sample collection EDM shit track on Spotify. SOLD!

Seriously though, why does this plugin even exist besides for the profit it makes?

quote by NightMixIt sounds like it basically does the same thing as dithering...

It uses a similar technique, but its goal is not to 'retain' (mimic, in fact) some quality after reducing bit depth of a file.
Its aim is to create notches on wave spikes, so you get an artificial increase in detail while bit depth remains unchanged (i.e. introduce noise irregularities into wave spikes, so its noise level must be higher than that of dithering noise). It purportedly changes the sound colour for the better, but in fact increases distortion, smudges transients, obscures details and imposes an artificial stereo effect (among other things).

Is this supposes to be used as the last plug-in on the master bus (before the clipper/limiter)?

doesnt matter as long as its off

On their homepage :

Well, it’s simple.
We make noise.

Anyway, thanks R2R and Funtime...

OLD MIXERS need this after they replaced their NS10s with linear modern speakers... its sort of a hearing aid.
al schmidt loved it in his late 80s.
