Softube Transient Shaper v2.5.9-R2R screenshot
Team R2R | 2021.01.05 | 15.97 MB
Transient shaping has become a vital technique in music mixing. The abilities to sharpen or soften the onset of a sound and to lengthen or shorten the decay have been very useful for giving each sound just the right size and position in the mix.

Transient Shaper takes this concept one step further, by letting the user affect either the entire frequency range — which is what most similar tools do — or the treble frequencies or bass frequencies individually.

"I almost get tears in my eyes"

So does Steven Slate! and for that we must thank R2R for bringing that rip-off merchant down to earth with his subscription scams and his VMR lock ins.

I'm not using ANY slate plug-ins though... all the rest are much better (Softube, PA... etc)

Haha exactly. I never understood the hype around Slate plugins, their quite snakeoil-y marketing has con-artist vibe, "Slate Academy" is just extended promo to the plugins, stupid iLok, stupid (and expensive) subscription scheme without any long-lasting value in return (rent-to-own, PA annual vouchers) making it pretty much Adobe of music, and the plugins aren't really something special. Waves is the worst company, but Slate is not that far behind.

Slate Digital = Cymatics of plugins

What's bad about Cymatics?

Their stupid marketing to begin with? All the lies they tell when dropping new sample pack (spent 100K on production of this pack, 10 grammy nominated musicians, all analog gear etc.), the whole "digital product being sold out", I'm pretty sure it's kinda illegal and could be marked as false advertising (at least in EU).

Second, the actual quality of the packs. Melodies are boring, and all the drums sound kinda same and OTT'd to death. The sounds on their own are kinda cool when you listen to previews on their website, but they are so overprocessed that it's hard for them to sit in the mix/with your own ideas.

Third = price. It's normal for them to ask 100+ USD for this very average collection of sounds.

WTF are you actually talking about?

As you seem to have some language barrier going on let me be clear.. I think it is GREAT that Steven Slate is crying right now, ok? And I visit here for the same reason as you... to get free cool shit, never said I didn't? You misread my 'joke' cos obviously English isn't your first language. I'm using cracked EVERYTHING. Last time I bought a legit plug was SSL Duende bundle but sold it again (along with my iLok). cos I can't STAND ilok as a device/USB/Performance hog.

Good for you mate that you got rid of that iLok shit.

I only buy plugins with simple protection schemes, I mean nothing that uses a dongle, nothing I cannot sell later on, and nothing I cannot install on at least 3 computers without a hassle of begging for authorisations. Speaking of authorisations, I also buy nothing that needs a website to authorise it. One day the website will be gone and then what? And subscriptions are laughable schemes to draw more money from your customers.

Hey man, it happens. We're all from different countries, mistakes are bound to happen. Don't stop using English just because you made a mistake. Use it more often so that you can improve.

It makes me wonder what exactly you are doing here, its not a dating site or maybe you like to read wich is fine by me.

You learn a lot from the comments and if something bothers you it's better to ignore it and be happy! Cheers

It's always a good idea to uninstall previous versions particularly of other team's releases.

I made a listening test, trying to match the settings of these three plugins as close as possible to each other (also used measuring checks). The results given are relative, pertaining to mutual comparisons only.
- Softube Transient Shaper - most colorizing the sound (mids and highs too bright, low end a bit boomy), most impulse smearing;
- Oeksound Spiff - a lot better definition and more natural sound compared do Softube but still a bit bit murky;
Voxengo Transgainer - least colorizing, best definition.
