Work flawless in OS X 10.8.5 with Waves v9r26, until now two hours, only mixing and editing.

SynthMaster working flawless here ... MacOS X 10.6.8
Checked thoroughly, it not crashes here, but it behaves randomly when selecting presets ... Sometimes they sound, sometimes don't, sometimes they sound whatever else, and still other times they behave as if key was hold ... So, further checking by other users would be good

If you tell the others that crash and i have them i could try to check them in my system and see what happens

I have an iMac 2009 running Mac OS Mavericks ( 10.9.5 ).

When i launch Pro Tools _10_3_10 i get this message :


Could not create a new document because

Assertion in “/Volumes/Development/135986/AlturaPorts/DFW/MacBuild/../Views/Umenu.MacOS.mm”.line 1351.



I have tried uninstall and re-install with the same error message when launching Pro Tools 10.3.10.

What does that message mean or what should i do to be able to make Pro Tools work ?

Help/suggestions very much appreciated and required please.

Hold down 'n' when starting PT and make sure you have the correct audio interface selected. This is also a common error with legit PT. Loads of suggestions for a fix if you search web.

This error occurs when pro tools can not display the Quick Start window due to a bad end or the like, just open a previous project menu of recent and restore

muchas gracias. gran trabajo amigos. funciona perfecto en Yosemite 10.10.2, abre sesiones de pt HD9 pt HD8 perfectamente bien y las puede leer de discos externos USB todo trabaja bien. por otra parte en snow leopard 10.6.8 se intala bien pero no termina de cargar y se cierra pro tools, alguna solucion, alguien mas lo ha experimentado. Gracias nuevamente.

thank you very much. work great friends. works perfect in Yosemite 10.10.2, open sessions HD9 pt pt HD8 perfectly well and can read external USB drives everything works well. Moreover in snow leopard 10.6.8 is intala well but not finished loading and closes pro tools, some solution, someone else has experienced. Thanks again.

Hi ,
I just install this PT version. After installation finish I restart but then my mac can't boot. Goes to osx utilities. Any idea what happend?

Apparently PT install should have nothing to do with that (i've installed 2 times, i.e.: 2 restarts, without any problem) ... So, maybe you could try to boot in safe mode (press and hold the Shift key as soon as you hear the startup sound), uninstall PT, and re-boot to see if problem disappears

I really appreciate your time to answer me.

I restarted with the prompt of PT installer. Then a circle with line (something like this Θ ) appears before apple logo and drives me to osx utilities. Not any error message.
I reset pram & vram but nothing.
After I try to boot in safe mode but there when the screen appears I can't even read the first words and this screen disappears going to a prompt for pressing a key for restart or restart automatically.
So how to uninstall PT under this situation?

( I apologize my english are not so good)

It seems you have some problem with you HD ... I copied/pasted your phrase about the «circle with line» into Google and found this:

«In modern versions of Mac OS X, repairing permissions from the Disk Utility app doesn’t repair the users file permissions, oddly this has to be done separately on a per-user basis. If you’re running into problems with Spotlight not finding documents or folders, or if you’re having other issues that can usually be fixed with a permissions repair, this can often resolve those problems».

Said this found two pages that may be of some help to you: ONE and TWO (from which i took the quote above)
Read the comments there also for any problem may arise applying the hints

IMPORTANT: before going to any of them and try out what their hints i suggest you to backup any valuable data you could have in your HD in case things went wrong ... With regards to that i've found this which may be of help to you if you have another Mac: «if you have another mac you can do it. reboot your mac and hold "t" at the chime. this will boot it in target mode. connect it to another mac and it will show up as an external drive. back up what you need» ...

I've had the same thing happen to me. Just select reinstall OSX from the OSX recovery partition and without wiping your hard drive, you will not loose anything.

Before start the app hold N key ... this force protools to setup audio interface if you have problem to start the application.

Run the hotfix from main post, I just updated it with a new revision that should fix
some rare problems experienced on some systems. openssh is doing his best and more
to fix possible issues but he can't have access to many machine/os combinations, he already tested on VMs running 4 different OSX versions, I can tell for personal experience being unable to reproduce an error is the worst nightmare a coder can find on his way while fixing bugs.

Just be patient, and maybe openssh will be able to track and hopefully provide a fix addressing the condition that cause that specific problem. Any of you having problems, please if you have the chance try to install on a different OSX version you may have on another partition/drive. I have a drive with 3 small (30GB) partitions running 3 different OSX versions for my tests, it's really easy and fast to make one if you have some space on your HDDs.

Sorry to step in but as i see it, i don't think neither you, nor openssh (nor any team) should justify your cracking efforts with nobody here, there or everywhere; after all you'll never be guilty of anything that could happen to my system being myself perfectly aware that i'm downloading something i should know that i'm going to use at my own risk ...

I'm not telling that you or any other should not try to help others with problems, but never because one feels guilty somehow of something that is unpredictably ... Even your calling in the second part of your post («please if you have the chance try to install ...»), despite it could be helpful somehow, would not be the «absolute truth» ... See Jimmy03 and myself for example, we both have the same OS installed in our machines, and while this release caused a serious OS problem to him, here it works flawlessly without causing any problem to OS … I don't think this was because openssh had not checked this release thoroughly, or that he had any responsibility on Jimmy03's OS crash, don't you think ?

There's a point where responsibility is no longer ours but of the other (or if you prefer we could add a «too» at the end)

Hope also that you don't take this words of mine as an offense (which they are not)

Hi there, thanks to openssh for this great release. I've been testing it and so far I found that when you want to switch window configurations that contain AudioSuite plugins in them, the application crashes. When the window configuration has any RTAS plugins, it works fine.
If anyone founds a fix for this, I'll be very thankfull.
