thank you openshh for this. i had an issue with 10.3.9 that still, even after doing a clean install of pro tools 10.3.10, persists. i am not able to render clip gain to a file, without pro tools crashing and giving the unauthorized blah blah error. i'm using mav 10.9.5. is it my error, or is that maybe something that you guys over looked or couldn't fix? any help to this would be greatly appreciated.

Link, how did you bypass the System Check in 10.10.2 ?
  Resident 2.05.2011 120 2612

Yosemite 10.10 is NOT officially supported so if you know how to try yourself, feel free,
but DO NOT bloat the thread with Yosemite questions, we DO NOT care.

Feel free to open a thread at AudioSex to share all your findings, workarounds, ask how to, whatever.
This is not officially supported by Avid on 10.10,
the menu bug CAN'T be fixed cause it's caused by major changes on OS side.
Don't turn this thread into ten page of questions and workarounds to make it work on an OS which it is not supposed to run on. Told many times already.

Comments are to discuss the release and eventual issues as long as the reports
are related to the system the release is supposed to run on.
It's like asking for Win release support in the Mac release thread. Makes no sense.

quote by sirupLink, how did you bypass the System Check in 10.10.2 ?

before install, change the OS version in the file "SystemVersion.plist", editing file with TextEdit.

file location:
/System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist

change 10.10 to 10.90 in this section:

<string>10.10.2</string>
<key>ProductVersion</key>
<string>10.10.2</string>

after install, return to 10.10 text in the file

Hey Link, what the fuck is so hard to understand in this???
Yosemite 10.10 is NOT officially supported so if you know how to try yourself, feel free,
but DO NOT bloat the thread with Yosemite questions, we DO NOT care.

At least don't give such a crappy advice!
Is just plain idiot to change the system reported editing system .plist, people will end up with their systems half fucked up if they do something wrong, and it's very likely they do something wrong seeing the amount of noobs and people who FAIL AT READ A 2 LINES NOTICE.

It is just logical thinking, nothing so hard.
If you come home after buying a pair of shoes and you find out they are small, what would you do?
Would you go back and change the shoes or would you take a jigsaw and cut an inch off your feet?

I will quote what I said many comments ago :
...is unneeded and also dangerous for noobs, you should use pacifist to manually install/extract or learn to unpack .pkg adn edit it to run on another version - google for pkgutil --expand - don't change the os version reported by the OS!!!!

Anyway I'm sick to write the same shit over and over again...
Do how you want, I will wait some days and then kindly ask a mod (like they don't have enough work to do) to just delete all noise in this thread so that only useful informations are kept for reference for people coming to this thread in future.

How To Install on Yosemite 10.10.2 if you have this Error :
"Pro Tools cannot be installed because the following error(s) were found on your system:
- An incompatible version of the OS was found. Pro Tools 10.3 requires Mac OS X version 10.7 or higher" :

The SystemVersion.plist file at /System/Library/CoreServices contains the version number. AT YOUR OWN RISK, you could make a copy of that file, edit the original to read "10.7", install Pro Tools, then replace the edited file with the original before restarting. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF BAD THINGS HAPPEN TO YOUR SYSTEM SHOULD YOU TRY TO PROCEED AS DESCRIBED ABOVE.

Man, some of you people are thick! Note: It doesn't work correctly in Yosemite. There are graphic issues with some of the menu items period! You'll find out at some point!
  Resident 2.05.2011 120 2612

Yeah for real mate!
Sure wnough they will found at at some point, sadly that point will come after they already smacked our balls for 10 pages on how to install it (none of them ever heard of Pacifist apparently), so they can crush our balls for another 10pages talking about the graphic issues.
