As the 80s sound is back and has been creeping up in modern chart topper tracks by major artists, as well as new soundtracks for tv series and film, we couldn’t hold back and had to release a drum plugin based on the hit sound of the 80s. Retro Hit is inspired from the pop/ dance and rock sound of popular bands and artists from the 1980s. The plugin provides 50 Drum kits of Kicks, Snares, Hats, Cymbals, Claps, Toms ,FX and Percussion which are available as processed versions already treated with eq, compression and reverb, and also some dry versions. We wanted to provide the processed sounds as well, so that the producer/ musician can be instantly inspired and can get to producing music , rather than tweaking the raw sounds from scratch. Dry untreated versions are also provided for those who want to tweak them on their own. The Plugin provides drum kits of 12 sounds per patch. These as visible as buttons that light up when played on the GUI.

Individual control per drum is also provided for Volume and Pan. Global settings for Pitch, Reverb, Attack and Sustain are also provided. Find mixed kits, kick drums, snares, hats, cymbals, toms, percussion and fx and mixed kits as preset kits to inspire you. All of the 600+ Drum samples are also provided as .wavs to use in other samplers such as hardware samplers and also controller based beatboxes such as Akai mpc and NI machine. You can also load them in any other soft sampler of your choice, or simply place them in your audio track. You can choose your method of production, making this a very versatile library.

These samples were recorded directly from vintage drum machines namely, EMU sp12, OB- MX, LINN DRUM and Fairlight. The sounds were tracked and recorded through a selection of tube and solid state pre-amps and compressors such as NEVE 1073, Thermionic Culture Rooster, and Electrodyne pres, Distressor, Api 2500 and Drawmer 1978.

Hardware Eq, compression and reverbs were applied to the dry samples to re-create the original 80s vibe. These sounds will be instantly recognizable and will inspire you to work fast and sound great.

I'm tired of this crappy products that are invading the market. Sure, I wanna thank Impressive for letting us try it before (not) buying it. Uninstalled it in less than 2 minutes. I really don't understand why anyone would spend time and effort designing a stupid GUI and writing a very limited plugin just to contain some bad quality samples that could have been released as a normal sample pack. No separate outs, so you can't really mix the drum sounds individually. There's a reverb knob that affects the whole kit, but the individual drums already have PLENTY of gated reverbs on them -and that's comprehensible, 'cause it's an 80s drums plugin- but stacking reverbs over reverbs doesn't sound good to me. The attack and decay parameters affect the whole kit, so there's really no way to actually operate on the individual sounds, besides the volume and pan controls. This is bullshit!

At least you weren't the one who bought it and was disappointed. Unfortunately, this was one of my rather regrettable purchases. Mainly due to all the reasons you stated. It doesn't sound the same. I hate the formatting. The GUI is a nightmare. There is little control whatsoever. Personally, I think the Zenhiser 80's Retro Drummer samples I shared some time ago are among the best 80's drum samples I've heard. But this Beatskillz thing is not very good. Hence, another reason why I shared it - to save you from wasting your money. And besides, I shouldn't expect a totally outstanding product for $30 from a company called "BeatSkillz". Sounds like my a soundcloud name for those peaked-in-high-school kids who still live with their Mom at age 35 still convinced they'll become the next Eminem. "Yo I'm MC BeatSkillz, yo checkout mah soundcloud!" Yeah no thanks I'm good, mate.

Yeah, I don't expect anything from these companies either - are they even real companies? All I can imagine is some guy in his bedroom designing a GUI and putting some samples he made from somebody else's sample packs in it

Perhaps we are expecting too much from those recordings of these vintage drum boxes. I have one of those drum boxes and the sound is just that, vintage.

While you may not find it useful, others may. It's not a popularity contest to me. This is a community. Even if just one person wants it, I will share it. It's not a huge deal.
Now look at it this way - if people can appreciate TrackGod expansions, than they can appreciate this thingy. Again, it's a cheap plugin. It's not a $1,200 Addictive Drums 2. It's a $30 plugin from a developer who doesn't even use any copy protection. Not even a serial number. Just download, install, and it's ready to go. So you can't expect great quality from it. You get what you pay for. You paid nothing.

Impressive my man.. i think we jumped pn the same train on this one.. I actually took a leap into the void and got the RetroKZ asewell.. Pretty much the same crap as this so called drum plugin. Sure it wasnt that much money but for sure spending the same amount on some presets for Spire or something similair would have made my day.

In other words, i totaly agree that this is a good way to help others from doing the same misstake "we" did. And even if the idea on this and RetroKZ is good its just doesnt cut it. Its poorly and cheaply made and even if they will upgrade it with seperate outs etc it still not even close to desent..

Guys, I agree with all of you and that's why I thanked Impressive for letting us try before (not) buying it. I totally admire what he's done here for the community. I was just reviewing the product, which is bullshit to my ears, that's all! Without ppl like Impressive, this comm wouldn't exist and guys like me wouldn't have the opportunity to save tons of money that would have gone wasted instead!

Yes, and that's exactly what we expect from comments. That's the way they are useful for other members.
Criticizing a product is not lack of respect for the uploader.
If done with real arguments it's really useful for all of us.

Your arguments were valid. I actually appreciate comments like these. They are very helpful. And I'd rather have a couple comments like these than a bunch of simple "Thanks!" comments (there's a thanks button LOL). Although I don't get hostile about that. They're showing gratitude.
Your arguments are valid and civil. You're not being disrespectful to me or anyone else. You're just criticizing a product and I'm sure a lot of us agree. When even the uploader agrees with you on that, you're safe my friend.

Is Zenheiser still in business? Haven't seen new releases from 'em in ages. I guess I'll check their website, but sometimes they just keep the site up and keep selling their products without the company being active
