Cinesamples CineBrass CORE Library KONTAKT screenshot
KONTAKT | 07 November 2013 | 9.74 GB

The CineBrass Core Library is Cinesamples’ orchestral brass sample library for Kontakt. Recorded at the world famous SONY Pictures Scoring Stage in Los Angeles, and mixed by veteran legend Dennis Sands (Oz: the Great and Powerful, Argo, Avengers, Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, Shawshank Redemption, American Beauty). The CineBrass Core Library covers the essentials of the orchestral brass section, and functions as a foundation in our composing templates. For expanded content, check out the CineBrass PRO expansion!

CineBrass is revolutionary in its power and simplicity for recreating the sound of the orchestral brass section. The library was designed by composers, for composers, with direct feedback from the film music community during its development. The result is a brass library that is easy to use, composer-friendly, with unparalleled recording quality. CineBrass does not require you to purchase any sampling software, and is licensed to work with the free Kontakt Player. All you need is a sequencer like Logic, Cubase, Digital Performer, LIVE, Cakewalk, or even Apple GarageBand and you’ll be up and running. You can also use CineBrass with your favorite notation software such as Sibelius or Finale.

All of the Articulations Patches in CineBrass contain shorts of various lengths and dynamics, as well as sustains. We recorded multiple repetitions per note and multiple dynamics as follows:

Eighths Staccato @ 8xRR p to ff
Quarters Tenuto @ 4xRR p to ff
Halves Marcato @ 2xRR p to ff
Sustains with smooth dynamic morphing

What is True Legato? True legato means that we sampled all of the intervalic leaps throughout the ranges, both upwards and downwards, for each brass section. When you play a True Legato patch, it instantly analyses the intervals you play, then plays the appropriate transitional leap between the notes. The result is a smooth and realistic legato performance. For all sections we did this at 2 dynamic levels, again using our dynamic morphing to blend seamlessly from piano to fortissimo. A key feature of our True Legato patches, is the Polyphonic Legato mode. This mode allows you to play lines of 2 or more notes simultaneously, while maintaining the appropriate transition samples between all notes. This is especially effective when playing chords that need to connect in a realistic way. These true legato patches are taken from the full articulation patches, and can be triggered in the full articulation patches by holding the down the pedal (by default.) We have included these separate patches for ease of access to the legato patches. Separated Patch List: We have included short and sustain patch splits which are derived from the full articulation patches, so that if you want to have separate tracks and instruments for each of the articulations you can quickly drag them in to form your own MULTI. For example the Six Horn Patch has Legato Sustains, eighths, quarters, whole in the articulation patch. In a sub folder we have split each of these and set them as a default (FYI – it will still load the full set) to form 4 separate instrument patches.

Here's a fact: One illegal download does not equal one lost sale. It's fallacious to suggest such.

How do you know what computer or internet connection he is running? I'm using a 7 year old computer for example and don't even download that much.

Sorry if I play the devil's advocate here. headbang

We all have to consider various assumptions when posting our opinions. So I have to assume if s.o. grabs all this big stuff and claims to be an orchestral composer, he should have a quite powerful machine. Same goes for the connection. It's very hard to collect such amounts of data with 768kbs/sec downstream, especially if the links went down within days. sad

But since this is (hopefully) not the Reichsparteitag nor the Supreme Soviet Assembly I guess a little bit of criticism should be allowed in here right? mates

dokx1 Since my name is mentioned in your reply i feel obligated to reply to you. 1st of all as an orchestral composer (which im trying to be), you dont need 3244945 pentabytes to do your work. Just a notion or sibellius is more than enough to satisfy my compositions. 2nd, you dont need a powerful mashine nor a superb internet connection to get. I have a 400kbs/sec connection and 2 tb hard drive. If i want to delve into more "trailer stuff" i have symphobia (a big thanks again to this site and the uploaders) to satisfy my needs. I experiment in downloading interesting stuff but that doesnt mean im storing all of them in a secret base of 10tb drives somewhere, relax. And 3rd, critisism is for the TV, or the media that try to badmouth every single event they can get their dirty hands on in order to make a big fuss out of it and increase their viewers. For this site you should better use "constructive critisism" and when using someones name since we are a big family all here you can ask the person before you go into conclusions about his gear or anything else about him. PMs work fine as far as i know in that aspect :) Oh and lastly being an orchestral composer doesnt necessarily mean that you have Hans Zimmers studio or thousands of gbs of VSTi's. I have studied orchestral composition till counterpoint (and still studying) and i have to tell you a notion or sibelius is more than enough for that matter.

@johanna,

Sorry dude, I was not trying to be arrogant...
But nothing beats the real deal.
Nothing against using samples, it all depends on what you do with it...
But I know that by using them, the musical ideas might be mine, but the sound ain't...
That's what I meant by faking.
About my wife knowing the difference is true ( should see the look on her face when I do so..).
The next morning is not quite the same...

I agree that you're not going to get the level of realism that you would with the real deal but many like in the box producing and I've heard amazing things done with shitty VSTs and samples that many artists would have a really hard time reproducing.

Is true, Cataly5t !
But in the beginning of this year, I was asked to play on an album... and said I could use some vsts, because it had to be done over the internet and would be simple, effective and faster. And for them to be flexible in choosing their sounds. and even sent them my presets etc...
For them to re-amp, re-route things etc..

Well....
The genie was out of the bottle...
They refused for me to do so, as of nowadays all musicians in Europe go back to the real deal, they told me...
I said: 'okay, in that case, I will give you multiple files and a straight clean one on top of that ( midi and audio for them to put it through anything they wanted, as I had to do some synths and guitar and even some bass )'. Everything miked and through various amps, vsts and the real deals (synths etc).
Guess what things they picked ?
And without knowing what I used to record it with... ( the real deal in those cases ).
It's just amazing ! It must have been the hiss..
Because sometimes a vst will show up clearer in a mix..., they went for something they had to re-EQ etc !!
Mind bogglin' !

The point being, is that you know when you fake things..
If you can live with that; okay...
I can too, and sometimes even have a hard time hearing the difference.
Not so with amp tube simulators ( there is the smoothness of real tubes ), and with real synths/keys...; I don't know what it is, but they seem to sound warmer.
As for acoustic instruments..
Well...
Doesn't mean you couldn't make a great demo with samples and vst(i)s...
But I would still feel to be faking it, and if my cheap producer wouldn't care... Damn, I can fake the f*** out of things !
What the hell. You still can make great demos in your bedroom.
I just know I faked it, the listener probably not...

And johanna,
My soul is for hire, not for sale....

beaucarty,
same issue here, actually testing brass-woodwinds libraries for purchasing in the next month, but if that's the real attitude of Cinesamples devs I think I'd rather buy from other company who aren't so easily offended and devote that energy to make better products...

Just found the solution to "this Library is encrypted blabla", it worked for both my OsX and Win setup. Looks like you have to move the custom .nicnt file included to any other folder for the library to be properly added to Service Center, and once it's done you can use any .nicnt and wallpaper you want! It was easier than I thought... rofl

Why would you use a custom .nicnt file for this?

Those are normally used for tricking Kontakt into adding non-Kontakt Player libraries to the library rack. The problem with that is: this IS a Kontakt Player library, so that custom file is just causing problems with Kontakt.

Any way to get this to work on Kontakt 5.5? When I load the .nki it asks me to to add the library, but if I do add it, it just throws the same error out.
