just a quick one - which new sections would you like me to add?

i don't want to make it too much specific, after all you'll never be looking for a software by browsing a section;
but in other hand, i've been thinking, it could be useful to move the magazines, video-tutorials and eBooks into seperate sections..

as for software... i have no ideas
maybe splitting VST and VSTi into sections would do?

so far, this is what i came up with:
- software
PC
MAC
essential

- samples
libraries
sound effects
MiDi, SF, AKAi

- study
watch
read

btw, do you use those Last Appz and Last Comments pages in the main menu?

P.S. if you see an article with comments disabled, you must immediately report it to me! :stop:

Please Split the Samples Section in something like :

Loop Librarys
Multisamples ( Kontakt,Halion,etc )
Impulses / IR Stuff

Software sections for VSTs,Hosts, etc would be great also.
Thx for your great worx.....

I don't mind what you take - I like how the site's functioning now, I pretty much download all the newest things straight away (should I like 'em)!

But no, I never, EVER use the 'Last Appz' or 'Last Comments' section, I'm sorry.

Maybe you can implement a AJAX-based (or any other webcode) box that updates in real-time as new comments/posts get added, now that'd be nice. But other than that, no suggestions :]

Btw, is the forum coming or was that cancelled?

I think it would be a good idea to put in a separate
section loops, elearning, magazines and stuff like that
cose lately those things are grown enormously in number,
maybe TOO MUCH...
Anyway this site remains the best on the web,
thanks for Your work!

I friggin rock,
In 4 years of my activity into warez stuff...I must say you`re the king of kings with your suggestion...brilliant!
I`ve seen a bunch of incredible nonsense, but you...I love you! I really do! bow

@SAiNT
How you doing, my old friend?

My input;
SOFTWARE
PC
-Applications
-Effects
-Instruments
-Drums
-ROMplers and Samplers
-Updates

MAC
-Applications
-Effects
-Instruments
-Drums
-ROMplers and Samplers
-Updates

SAMPLES
-Libraries
-Popular Formats (Kontakt, Refills, etc)
-Impulses
-MIDI
-Presets

EDUCATION
-Music Production
-Music Theory
-Magazines

And a special section just for I friggin rock where teams can leave their info about what they`re working on at the moment/phone numbers/e-mails/etc., so the guy could be informed

Cheers!

I'm not really into too many categories, I like it the way it is.
But one thing could really be improved: *please* enable search strings with only 3 letters!
And since I like to use the "Last Appz" function, maybe the time frame for displayed posts could be increased to cover a few more hours into the past.

Thanks & keep the good work wink

Hehe, well was an underhanded way of asking for hints of what people truly want, and whether, or if its coming eg: Wave 7 PC, Sugarbytes Guitar etc..

Perhaps u didn't get it, but its all good.

I also love the site, and some great suggestions here, but I would be fine if it stayed just how it was. mates

Oh MAc and PC being separate would be great :)

Lastly.. no one said i was a guy winked

Here's some ideas of how I'd change 8-bit's suggested structure to my taste.

I would, from my experience of trying to find a non-redundant structure:
- move Drums (not Drum Libraries), ROMplers, Samplers all to Instruments
- move Drum libraries (both loops and individually sampled kits) to Samples
- move updates to the category the updated software belongs to
- Create a separate category for MIDI and Scores
- not differentiate between Sample Libraries and Sample Formats, but rather tag them by instrument/type
- move Presets to the Instruments' category

and there should be a separate sexion for "Foley Fx" under Samples. rest is more or less same as already suggested above. yes

Could we please make it a rule that the system compatibilty (i.e. Mac OS and/or Windows) must be listed in the description heading of any share posting.

I mean, c'mon, it's the norm on the vast majority of share sites -- and for good reason!

Otherwise, split the site into two sections: Mac/Windows.

I will like to have a memory of things I have (downloaded from here or not) or he/she has (to ask via PM, in case we need). Too many things mix my brain and my Alzehimer made me sometimes download two times some appz.

@ Saint

Before you change something at the sections, please please make a forum! yes
Doesn't have to be something special at all, just a place where all the users can discuss.

Regarding the sections:
I like to keep it simple... introducing many new categories is in my opinion not a good idea.

But what would be really useful:

Dividing virtual instruments (sample libraries) and loops (ready made music) in two different categories.
A Section for "Old Releases" would be a good idea too, since more and more of them appear here anyway (which is not a bad thing, but should be clearly visible).

These are my suggestions (but I check always everything which is being uploaded here anyway lol )

...a platter in your hand, a golden spoon in the mouth, and people still complain....

ANYWAYS...

i would like to see much longer pages - or many more entries per page - maybe a short [text only | description | version no et al] / long [verbose | images] version. what would be great is if i can mark posts and then get back to a list of posts i have marked (maybe it's already possible to do this - if so, apologies...)

yes, a better search engine would help. a good search engine would be great! :)

I like I Friggin Rock's suggestion.
I think the sections are fine the way they are since some of the posting are effects + samples, or mac + pc, or eLearning video + books. It might just crowd up the forum.
One suggestion... If I search "electronic musician", I get responses from anything with the word "electronic" or "musician" in it, and not only the two... if this is making sense.
Just taking this opportunity to throw out some suggestions :)

I'm pretty happy with everything regardless of what you do, but I wouldn't mind a "New Scene Releases" section so that we could easily sort out older releases that people put up without a release date reference in their post. I have nothing against the older releases, I just would like to be able to pinpoint them a bit more easily.

Maybe a presets section. Just throwing it out here, how about a section for some of the folks who make music here to post some of their music? Might be helpful to get some friendly advice and constructive criticism. Any one else thinking the same?

Hi everybody
For me, I really love the site as it is.
I like the essential section. In fact this aspect is the only one I think that could be developped. The real problem for me is: too many stuff in the world today. Its a daily fight to try to keep only "what is really good" and stay focused on music. Maybe a forum could help.

gelido,
That`s ok, but there`s no need to make a separated sections for e-books and video, IMO, because you can add [e-Book]/[VIDEO] at the end of title and keep the place organized with less number of section.
Of course, I could add a tons of subcategories as well, but believe that SAiNT wants to keep it simple as much as it possible. Cheers!
