just a quick one - which new sections would you like me to add?

i don't want to make it too much specific, after all you'll never be looking for a software by browsing a section;
but in other hand, i've been thinking, it could be useful to move the magazines, video-tutorials and eBooks into seperate sections..

as for software... i have no ideas
maybe splitting VST and VSTi into sections would do?

so far, this is what i came up with:
- software
PC
MAC
essential

- samples
libraries
sound effects
MiDi, SF, AKAi

- study
watch
read

btw, do you use those Last Appz and Last Comments pages in the main menu?

P.S. if you see an article with comments disabled, you must immediately report it to me! :stop:

The more sections there are, the harder it is to find things because there's more places to look for them. And mis-labeled releases, or things puit in the wrong category just makes things more confusing.

Things are pretty good now as long as we all remember to check in here once a day to see what's up. This is a very good site.

I'd like to see the posters have to state in the description how big the download is. This is no big idea for VSTis but sample libraries are all over the place and some of us have bandwidth caps we have to consider.

Another thing would be a requirement that everything must be uploaded to at least 2 sites but I know this is can be a contentious issue. Someone wlil always want another uploader.Personally I cant stand Filesonic and wont download anything from it;I just look elsewhere.

But this is a great site and I hope it stays great forever!

I love this place, I've found already so much good stuff. It's all manna from heaven for me and I'm deeply grateful for what you guys are sharing here. Thank you amigos.

I just wanted to say that.

wink wink wink

p.s.
A section for kontakt libraries and sample sets would be great, that's my favourite sampler.

I Agree with 8 Bit , lets try to keep this new categories more complete but at the same time easy for SAiNT to set it up.

I think there is a lot of good ideas here that SAiNT can use to improve the categories menu

Cheers! and as all of the people are saying here, This is the Best Forum Ever!!! wink

Thanks SAiNT bow

@ SAiNT
@ 8-bit

Like your idea 8-bit . Looks neat & tidy. And the grouping of particular things looks purposeful.

Please split the samples section into libraries, virtual instruments, refills, etc. Also it would be nice to separate the education section into videos, ebooks, complete sets, etc.

Hi there. You maybe could saperate the plug's format

VST/AU/DXI/RTAS+TDM/MULTI Format/...

Just an idea, also like the site like it is thank you once again for that ;-)

Dear all,

assuming multiple class membership for each item, the following might apply

maybe splitting education according to instruments would be a nice idea (guitar, synth, drums, vocals, bass, strings, wood, brass). Then publica and that split again "magazines, books, scores"

here is my education section suggestion:

Education
- Instruments
-- Vocal
-- Guitar
-- Bass
-- Synth
-- Drums
-- Strings
-- Wood
-- Brass

-Media
-- Video
-- Audio
-- Publica
--- Books
--- Scores
--- Magazines or (Periodica if more generality is called for)

-Topics
-- Software
-- Instruments
-- Music Theory
-- Recording and Production

Why to classify in this way you may ask? First of all, I guess it is tricky to maintain a tradeoff between level of detail (ergo getting what you want quick) and empty classes. Therefore, a general "instrument" related categorization along with the respective "media" (video, audio, books) might be a good start. Obviously this poses a further problem of non-disjunctive classification in the media classes (e.g. replication of instruments categories under video or similar).

Maybe more thought into potential feature redesign (e.g. filtering categories such as: "Books" AND "Guitar"; "Books" or "Video" ) and multiple classification schemes might help even more. This is just from the top of my head. I might give it some more thought an repost.

best,
opty

shareislove, exclusive sexion for teh MIDIs is a must. yes
simorange, not practical no as most plugs come in at least 2 flavors. just Instrument/Fx typification is enough to classify them.

its ok the way it is

some way of filtering out all the prehistoric stuff that goes up here

rule 2. as you saw above, we do not accept old releases.
only new Releases (which is approx. 1-2 weeks old) can be posted in appz section.

shareislove's suggestion is good:

SOFTWARE

- MAC
SAMPLES
- Libraries
- SoundFX
EDUCATION
- Video Tutorials
- Ebooks & Magazine

The simpler categorization - the better and easier to do, especially for a start and basic sorting out. More categories can always be added later if needed, or make further adjustment.

For a start, a simple and clear categorization is crucial, to get the sorting started, and make AudioZ even better organized and more useful for daily browsing to different users. Most obviously a PC/MAC categorization would be of best benefit for everyone here, so people don't waste time browsing through what it's not useful for them.

There's no need to come up with a 100 categories all of a sudden, and only clutter things up. It would confuse people, instead of helping them find and be more productive with the tools they download.

Keeping it simple is the best way, to keep AudioZ clean and user-friendly - the things everyone like about it.

Also, a category by filehost would be of benefit to many people who prefer browsing/downloading content from certain filehosts.

I have a suggestion, so nobody has to go through the BS associated with this users incomplete/tampered uploads on non-conforming file hosting sites.
