This course, by audio producer Joshua Carney, will help you find the ultimate DAW for your budget and your specific music production needs.

Which DAW is best for editing? Which one has the most complete mixing plugin suite? What about mastering? And software instruments? Most importantly, which DAW has the best feature set for YOU? Will it be Avid Pro Tools, Apple's Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Reason, Steinberg's Cubase, PreSonus Studio One, or Reaper? Let's find out!

Joshua Carney knows all these DAWs inside out, and he's very passionate about sharing his knowledge, experience and professional opinion with you. Discover which DAW is the best one for you with this course now!

Time doesn't equate to goodness/badness.

Yes Pro Tools at the top. Come back at me when your toy DAW has a 24 fader Controller like D-Command that doesn't feel / act like a toy.

Come back at me when you shitty DAW can show everything in one view (edit page) without stupid side panels and mixer panes

Come back at me when your DAW has anything as good as HEAT built into the sound engine (Studio One's console shapers sound like trash vs Dave Hill's algo)

Come back at me when y our DAW is the BEST world class at actual MIXING not the crappy little/bloated/akward "mixing" we see in the Logics of this world

Come back at me when your DAW is the best at recording AUDIO and displaying it down to the sample level without aliasing, enabling extremely fast editing.

Come back at me when your DAW is used, and therefore confirmed as 'best' by 99% of the worlds top recording/mixing engineers.. THEN you might have a point.

If bling and gimmicks are you bag then sure, stick with Studio One, Logic or god forbid... ableton, loops, bitwig... or nerd stuff like Reaper (I've used them all and know full well what I'm talking about - bet you've never even used Pro Tools HD/Ultimate modern version?) EVERYTHING IN PT works better, from grouping, to flexibility, to freezing/bouncing (faster and more reliable), to controller integration (ICON is the best ever controller for ANY DAW Fact!).

I was like you a few years back (in cubase and studio one) hating on PT cos it annoyed me that so many used it and it looked old fashioned (at first glance until you customise the colours of tracks better than what most 'pros' do) then I actually got to use it daily and compare it to studio one, cubase and logic... and those 3 felt absolutely awful my comparison... esp the newer DAWS catering to bling/mouse work over actually great audio recording/editing.

You prob just make VSTi based EDM in ableton all week so have no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to mixing REAL music (from real instruments).

PT is best... 2004/2021... you name it. It's history speaks for itself and nothing comes close. If you think so you're deluded and in denial about the actual power/benefits of Pro Tools, just like the other noobs.

I have tested Cubase and it's worse than Cakewalk. How come?

Actually videos like these are very helpful for newcomers who don't know the many differences between DAWs, I remember how confused I felt when I started out with this. Although I will say it was not until I actually demo'd some of them myself that I got a good insight into what kind of workflow I like and where the strenghts and weaknesses are. But a series like this can be a great starting point.

Cubase for me because i bought 20 years ago Pro tools has too many clicks and back then no pretty colours :)

Pro Tools is way faster than cubse (used both) by now... key modifiers gives it the same RAPID workflow of studio one but without the stupid drag/drop (mouse moving) and pisssssspooor mixing. Cubase is still decent though, good for arrangers/midi guys and gets the job done but it's no PT when it comes to editing and mixing.
