I think in the past, certain YouTubers an tutorial makers received upcoming updates ahead of time so they could create content to be ready upon the official release. Wasn't there some controversy because one of those people accidentally published a YouTube video one day too early, basically spoiling the surprise? So yeah, this was certainly produced without any hurry in the past couple of weeks, I'm sure.

Correct: Studio One Expert jumped the gun and uploaded an overview of an update (possibly 4.6) one day before the release.

They barely launched version 4... I love Studio One, but I hate this sort of business practice... "Hey you just bought S1 4? FU, now 5 is available and you have to buy it..."

Their upgrade prices should be way lower. I bought S1 2, then I paid the upgrade to 3, but it did not take long to release 4 and I just started getting the newer versions here at Audioz, will be grabbing version 5 here too. If they don´t give us free updates, Audioz does. I consider Presonus paid by me, I won´t be ripped off.

Companies do what the majority of customers find agreeable, or they wouldn't.

I'm a legit Bitwig owner, they charge 399$ when you first buy the DAW and then 160$ per year to keep getting updates (299$ and 120$ per year on summer sale). Ableton Live is 600$ but then a major new version only comes out like every 4-5 years.

In other words, all these companies need money again sooner or later. And they're about all the same if you calculate the cost/year for each of them. The exceptions being FL Studio, where a one time 800$ gets you a perpetual license for all future versions, or Reaper, which is only 60$ for 2 major versions and lots of updates in-between.

So there you go. Reaper or FL Studio for you then.

Well-put, thedarkbird. I think people forget (or, are unaware,) how much work actually goes into the construct of a DAW, plus, keeping up on bug fixes, brainstorming, testing (and retesting,) innovations, etc., etc.,--this is not lite work.
Unfortunately, my broke-ass has to frequent this site far too often for warez, but I do try and support developers and artists whenever possible--anyone else have a "To-Buy" list of plugins/programs/etc. that they already own?

Nah but presonus Studio One 4 is really Studio One 3 with that chord thingy and the drum machine sequencer view, that is it... Rip off.

AUX Bus = External Synths or Midi stuff need only 1 channel from now. No separate Midi and separate Audio needed. Baaammm !
last night an oscillator saved my life
