A Symbolic Link is a completely different function than a windows shortcut.

I would recommend to read this very clear explanation to understand.

Then if you want an easy solution and wanna be able to create other SL in the future, read in particular the paragraph "How to Create Symbolic Links with a Graphical Tool".

It's the tool I use everyday, because I want to avoid typing command lines each time. My C: drive is very limited in space, so everytime it's possible, I try to create a symbolic link to avoid problems.

If ever you want a more technical description + forum discussion, you could also read this.

Thing is if you know exact folders better create symlink before install cause when you create symlink before install it will copy files to that folder and you dont need to manually moves files later.

If anyone wants to create symlink for this product ;

Windows key + R, type "cmd" and start Command Prompt utility,

For creating directory symbolic links : mklink /D "symbolic link" "target link"

mklink /D "c:\ProgramData\Yamaha\Expanded Softsynth Plugin for MONTAGE M" "d:\YourNewFolder"

"d:\YourNewFolder" could be any folder on any drive.

Source folder (c:\ProgramData....) shouldnt exist before creating symlink, if you already installed you need to move files manually to "YourNewFolder", delete exist "c:\ProgramData\Yamaha\Expanded Softsynth Plugin for MONTAGE M" folder and create symlink.

After creating symlink If you will delete symlink folder target files will stay, you need to delete "YourNewFolder" manually.

thank you everything works well, I loaded some Montage expansions and they work fine does anyone know how can save the plugin to retain those loaded libraries so I wont have to load them every time I use the plugin?

When you import banks its adding to some database files about software. You can import 16 banks + 1 user bank, after import banks stays, till you delete from plugin settings you dont need to import everytime. If you want to import more than 17 banks you need to delete imported banks. There is also memory limit, sometimes you cant import even 16 banks, it shows memory error and stop importing banks.

Everything else with this works perfectly, but for some strange reason I have problems when saving songs with tracks which use sounds from "JS-Sound Trance Infinity Vol.1 for Yamaha MONTAGE X7L"-expansion bank.

When loading song again, there is no sound on track while every setting seems to be ok in plugin instance. This happens in multiple DAWs and problem is only when using sounds in this expansion bank...

I'm not sure is it related to your problem but i noticed some 3rd party bank patches dont have sound till i click "Arp Master" on top section of GUI.

In this case clicking "Arp Master" does not help.

When first time loading performances from bank the sound is ok, but after saving and reloading the song there is no sound.

The only way I know to make it work is to first load "JS-Sound Trance Infinity Vol.1 for Yamaha MONTAGE X7L"-expansion bank to VST and then import performances to user memory, which is quite tedious because performances have to be selected one by one by clicking on them...

Update:

So this is my workaround for the problem with this soundbank. Strangely all the other soundbanks I tested work fine without the need of importing performances to user memory...

...and so that the main thing is not forgotten: my most polite thanks to the deliverer. This plugin is something special.

Could anyone point me in the right direction as to where I put the expansion banks files to use with the plugin?

First: thank you for this fantastic instrument!

Since I am not a very techie person, maybe somebody can help me. I don't have Cubase installed (I am using Reaper as my DAW) so I would like to know:
Of course I need to install component "4. Expanded Softsynth Plugin for MONTAGE M 2.0.1". But do I also need to install the other three components, so "1. MediaBay 1.1.30", "2. Steinberg Activation Manager" and 3. Steinberg Library Manager?

The easiest way is to install Cubase from R2R and the R2R SILK emulator. You can find it over here.After that you can just install ESP Montage without the other apps.
I you do not like to install Cubase you have to install the other apps too!

You don't have to install Cubase nor any other Stbrg app!

You have two choices to make this VST work:

1. Install the VR Unlocker included in this release. It's the most simple option for beginners.

2. OR, Install "R2R Root Certificate" + "R2R Silk Emulator"

If you choose this way, follow the instructions here to make it work, but not only this release in particular: you will be able to DL and use any official installer from the dev's site!

This second option is not as easy as the first one (particularly the Certificate installation, if ever you have difficulties with this one, just ask), but is the most reliable, as it doesn't mess with your registry and system files.

Important: you have to choose method 1. or 2. These two methods are incompatible with each other, so choose wisely!

Before using the VST, so before opening your DAW.

In other terms: this Yam VST tests the presence of a licensing solution (VR or R2R) only when it is launched.

Depending of your particular installation, perhaps you will have to install Mediabay.

But if you don't use Cubase nor any other Stbrg DAW, you don't need Library manager nor Activation Manager.

ESP Montage is performing like hell but there are still some things that must be implemented in an future update because several parameters are still not automatable. Moreover, only parts 1-8 are automatable! Parts 9-16 don't. The Super Knob is not recognized as automation and only automatable via midi CC95. But what the heck....This is a big big release here at Audioz guys!! Thank you so much VR!
