V.R | 12.2020 | 1.2 GB
Harness the vast power of the ZEN-Core Synthesis System and dive deep into the world of custom sound design with ZENOLOGY Pro. You get the amazing sound quality and efficiency of ZENOLOGY, plus an expansive interface to craft all-new sounds that inspire your music.

The ZEN-Core Synthesis System features an array of detailed parameters to develop big, complex sounds with animated movement. With its clear, resizable interface and multiple edit views, ZENOLOGY Pro provides full access to every aspect of ZEN-Core, letting you create sounds you've only imagined.

ZEN-Core is ultra-flexible and based on discrete synth voices called partials—each containing an oscillator, filter, amplifier, and dual Step LFOs. You can use up to four partials simultaneously, choosing from thousands of waveforms, 10 modeled filter types, and 11 LFO shapes. Combining multiple synthesis types, lush effects, and deep modulation capabilities, you're able to build stunning sounds that spark new ideas.

one problem i encountered and solved.

When you have the Zenology regular from the Cloud installed
it will not let Pro show up , so you must uninstall first the "lite" version

What a great gift from V.R Team.
Works perfectly with Windows 7 and R2R Roland.

Defiantly one of the best synth engines to have right now, I was listening to new hardware Rolands on youtube thinking how nice they sound and Im pretty sure they mentioned this software engine (running in their hardware) i.e. this is magic behind rolands new synths, mind you their hardware will still color it in its own unique way but this is the core of the sound, you can color it with other awesome tools. Anyways, amazing deed.

After torturing sounds with this beast for barely 15 min - and unless you have to publicly admit being a complete noob - you will stop asking for the very unlikely crack of this overpriced toy called "Nexus 3".

Exactly my thoughts!
Zenology will make big changes in my DAW environment.

Took the bait, the post of the year this, amazing synth that. Lesson learned. Sounds like a cheapskate rompler, some kind of an advanced midi GM synthesizer , even nexus2 is miles away from this.
Shame on you junk collectors.

May I ask you how old you are? Are you already 12?
What is your favorite sounds?
Gangstaz vibez urban hybrid psy trap trash sounds?
You compare 50 years Roland Technology put in one PlugIn with Nexus?
Know the Kiddie difference between Synthesizer-Workstation and Rompler?
Oh Kiddie, better keep playing your LEGO till you'll grow up...

Thank you V.R. again ...

Tested this and I think is a wonderful synth (not Rompler) that gives about 85 % of Roland sound . The good thing and again thank you V.R. , are numerous sound banks and sounds , that gives you play territory and possibility to modify existing one and create new ones .
For those who like hardware synths with classic sounds (Roland , Korg , Yamaha) this synth is a joy .

Totally agree.
Most likely, Roland invested a lot in R&D on this one (despite being a soft synth) and it shows.

I love it (as I said previously) but complete sound adjustments seems impossible - even after reading the manual: how do I can add multiple effects? For example, when I add some equalization, if I then choose to add a chorus or a delay, the equalization settings disappear... In other words, I can only add one effect. Does anyone have a solution?
C'est mon avis et je le partage.

I don't think it's possible to do that.
They might already be planning a v2 that will allow to add more than one effect.
In the mean time you can always add an external effect from your DAW for example.

it's quite a nice piece of synth, large collection of presets, definitely useful

Read the comments. I asked the question. It's on page 1. Apparently not. alex2035 suggests Symlinks. I can't do that right now but you probably can.

Probably Roland's first soft synth that deserves some praise.

I mean that most of their other soft products are also nice but they are basically some replicas of their past glory whereas this one seems like brand new... and at the same time is also based on their yesteryear's synthesizers.

Excuse my ignorance but isn't this basically just a small scale Omnisphere?
The whole partials thing makes it seem very Omnispherish to me at least.
  Resident 28.09.2015 1 261

Omnisphere is made by Eric Persing's company. The same guy was responsible for voicing Roland digital synths in the 80's and 90's. And Zenology is the offspring of those synths.

Yea, my question is basically: What makes Zenology desirable when we already have Omnisphere which appears to be the same thing but on a much larger scale?

I'm excited to try this
thank you for uploading
Sidechaining sounds cool for 2 seconds then it becomes obnoxious
Synthwave will never be as good as 80s synth music

For those who need to install it on another drive, i've done these steps:
- unpack the exe with uniextract (portable)
- you will find in the extracted folders the "roland" one (with the vst3 plugin) and the "roland cloud" (containing the expansions)
- copy "roland" folder anywhere you wish (in your custom vst folder, so that daw can find it on rescanning)
- copy "roland cloud" in your preferred storage folder
- create a symlink running a command prompt as admin and type the following command (or save it as a .cmd file) but of course customize the folder names
"mklink /D "C:\Users\<your-win-username-here>\AppData\Local\Roland Cloud" "<your-storage-folder-here"

that's all

I tried UniversalExtractorPortable_1.6.1_Development_Test_6.paf.exe but it would not extract this Inno Setup installer.
I found an Inno Setup Extractor command line util installer cur ver innoextract-1.9-windows.zip which works, from:

innoextract - A tool to unpack installers created by Inno Setup - free - open source
https://constexpr.org/innoextract/
It did unpack the AAX, VST, Roland and Roland CLOUD folders etc. so I should be able to place the expansion on G where I have space.
IT WORKS:
G is a USB drive so it takes longer to load up at least on 1st use. You have to del the Roland Cloud folder in your User <name> AppData\Local folder or symlink creation fails. So move all the other original folders to expansion drive too. I manually created G:\Roland Cloud and moved everything from User <name> AppData Local\Roland Cloud into it and merged the ZENOLOGY folder Innoextractor made and I now see 71 new BANKS. Before adding the expansion, I had only inst the VST3 and had only 7 BANKS. Looks like a great collection with 78 BANKS total.

Thanks Mordi and paniwa!
good right just fair share care aware air everywhere

This is first really serious Roland VSTi, I think, although I find those SRX expansions really interesting for some things, too. Especially XV-5080.

Thank you so much for releasing it V.R!!!
