Sorry to be a pain, but ... Step 6B: When I run Omnisphere as Admin, I get message: "Unable to access plugin folder at c:\programdata\spectrosonic\STEAM\omnisphere"
According to instructions, there is no STEAM subfolder, only a shortcut to STEAM . <<What is this dummy missing?

The instructions said "C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics"
and your message said " c:\programdata\spectrosonic"
detail does matter.

I stand corrected. The error message matches the folder names - ProgramData\Spectrasonics\

You must check your shortcut path to the STEAM folder AND change permissions on your STEAM folder. I never said there is no STEAM folder. Of course there IS a STEAM folder. The STEAM folder indeed is a subfolder of the Spectrasonics folder. It simply is located where you placed it. The shortcut points you there. Even if placed elsewhere for all practical purposes it is as if the STEAM folder is physical y in C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics\ . Check path. Change permissions.
The problem is not the problem. The problem is your attitude about the problem.

Thanks Pirate. Your dedication is inspiring.

Yes, the STEAM folder is on another drive. I've already changed the permissions to that folder and all folders involved. The error message states it can't find the plugin folder in C:\ ...Spectrasonics\STEAM\Omnisphere. That file path does not exist. I have: C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics. Within that folder are:

plug-ins (folder)
Omnisphere.dll (successfully patched)
Omnisphere (application)
STEAM (shortcut)
AUDIO16.DAT

I'm sure it's a simple fix but I've re-read the instructions several times and can't figure it out.

I tested in the STEAM shortcut in C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics. When clicked, it displays the Omnisphere folder icon in drive H:\Spectrasonics\STEAM\

To clarify: The error message states:
"Unable to access plug-in folder at C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics\STEAM\Omnisphere - check folder for permissions"

So "STEAM" in the file path refers to the shortcut and everything in the file path after it is located in the STEAM folder on drive (H). However, there is no plug-in folder there. The path to the plug-in folder is C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics\plug-ins\64 bit

Not wishing to get involved in what 'optimum' permission settings should be,
have you tried... for your folder "H:\Spectrasonics\STEAM\Omnisphere"
granting 'full control' to user 'everyone'?

THAT should be the permission. Every Windows user ought to know that is the way to solve it.

I'm sure it's a simple fix but I've re-read the instructions several times and can't figure it out.

Do this to the Spectrasonics folder you have on H: drive.

Properties>Advance>Change Permissions>Add>principal:select a principal>Advanced>Find Now>Everyone>OK>Basic Permissions> Check them all
If it still doesnt work check permissions in the Spectrasonics folder on your ProgamData folder. You are almost there!
The problem is not the problem. The problem is your attitude about the problem.

Windows 7 here. For full folder permissions I'm doing: Right click folder, Properties>Security>Advanced>Change Permissions>Full Control for all users. I 've done it for C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics and made sure the subfolders have the correct settings. The same for H:\Spectrasonics. Still no luck.

I keep going back to the error message: "Unable to access plugin folder at C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics\STEAM\Omnisphere." It refers to a plugin folder in the Omnisphere folder on (H) drive because everything from "STEAM" in the file path is on H drive (correct?). However, there is no folder named plugin, plugins, plug-in or plug-ins in that folder.

Also, when instructions say "Run Omnishpere as Administrator" I've been right clicking the standalone icon on my desktop and selecting "Run as Administrator".

This release is not cracked per se. It contains the original installers from Spectrasonics AND the registration is achieved thanks to R2R's 2048 Key Generator.

Hey, I'm not sure my pm went through so I'll ask here:

My omnisphere closed by itself when I pasted the response code. I assumed it worked (it didn't) so I procedded to patch it only to realise it wasnt working.

Is there any way to make it work at this point? Will it work if I uninstall omnisphere (and if so do I need to erase registry entries or something)?

P.S. this was my mistake, thank you very much for this release

Hi. If anyone knows (So Pirate doesn't have to answer everything)

Omni runs perfectly in windows 7 64 bit standalone. Haven't tried it yet inside a daw since i work mainlt with old air Nuendo 4 at 32 bits. This is the reason i left my previous 32 bit Omnisphere 1. The thing is, when i open omni 1 inside Nuendo, the plugin starts but the sounds (factory, user) have disappeared. Intead, it reads Omni 2 sounds which obviously can't be played. Any ideas how to fix this and get back omni 1 sounds?

Also, how can I check the integrity of a torrent using Pirate's supplied SHA 256? I want to do this to keep seeding...

Thank you all who are trying to make this monster work!
Cheers

IIRC, 7zip has a function that will check that SHA. I usually right click the file and select CRC SHA.

Thanks to all the torrenters who actually committed to seeding. After a few miserable days of my WIFI adapter disconnecting constantly (and certainly could not D/L overnight), I had one good day of no disconnects and finished the D/L today! And as soon as the new Windows 10 compliant WiFi adapter arrives on Wednesday, this one's going into a dark hole somewhere. Will continue seeding.

Just in case make sure the shorcut's name is STEAM ( delete the rest that says "- shortcut")

Please believe when I say it's not 'me' that's being fussy here
- it's Windows that is necessarily fussy.

So...

When you say you've set 'Full Control for all users'
I have to ask
- what users are in your list of users?
- and specifically is there an entry named 'everyone' in that list
If not then you should add that 'everyone' user group to the list.

Also, when you say
'and made sure the subfolders have the correct settings. The same for H:\Spectrasonics'
Does that mean you definitely set the permissions for the subfolder
H:\Spectrasonics\STEAM\Omnisphere

I sympathise with you re: ambiguities in error messages,
(especially where shortcuts are involved).
So,
"Unable to access plugin folder at C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics\STEAM\Omnisphere."
My reading of this message is...
It's referring to the plugin's lack of access to folder H:\Spectrasonics\STEAM\Omnisphere
which it regards as being located at
C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics\STEAM\Omnisphere
by virtue of accessing it via the 'STEAM' shortcut.

My friend, when I said that I was talking specifically to the member I quoted who has his STEAM folder in his drive H:
If you read the instructions above your questions you will find the answer to the "Everyone" permission issue. You dont have to create a "Everyone" user. It is there. Look in alphabetical order. You simply grant full control to user "Everyone".
Problems with Omnisphere, Trilian and Keyscape access to STEAM are generally 3:
1) Wrong shortcut path to STEAM folder.
2) Incorrect shortcut name (it should be STEAM without the -shortcut suffix).
3) Folder permissions.

Hi Pirate,

Actually I wasn't asking any questions. My post was a reply to that same member (dim chandelier) with his installation on drive H:
I was just trying to help him ensure that his permissions setup was appropriate. (Sometimes 'everyone' is not automatically in the users list, and he 'might be' facing that issue)
Sorry if it looked like I was replying to you and asking funny questions - I wasn't.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong when I add a reply to a message.
My message did originally appear 'in line' as a reply to his post (as intended) but then a few minutes later it somehow moved to the end of the list.

Same thing just happened again. I originally made this reply as a reply to your message; and it did appear 'in line as a reply; and then a few minutes later it got moved to the end of the list.

Cheers
