I believe it depends on how much they have paid CM, just like with every other software there...

Anyway, you could just take another mag and get a completely different opinion, e.g. the German c't (translated):
"The resource-efficient plug-in proved highly convincing soundwise and could bring lasting change to everyday studio life just Aphex Exciter or Celemony's Melodyne in their days."

Found a fix for FL users! Can confirm working in FL 12.

"We have come across the issue with FL Studio already and here's a workaround that should work for all our products.

Reason for your problem:
FL is highly unpredictable when it comes to blocksize handling. All our plugins highly depend on a static blocksize due to the high amount of complexity of the calculations.

Solving your problem can be achieve in two ways:
a) the way it's meant to work: go to the plugin settings and choose the 'Processing' tab.
There tick the "Use the fixed size buffers" option (at least that's what it's named in FL12)
This proved to work for the VST2.4 versions of our plugins

b) if this is not possible (as for the VST3 version for some reason) there a slightly more complicated yet efficient way:
- open regedit.exe and find a Key specific to smartEQ
in the case of VST2.4 navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Image-Line\Shared\Plugins\Fruity Wrapper\Plugins\VST\
in the case of VST3 navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Image-Line\Shared\Plugins\Fruity Wrapper\Plugins\VST3\
- find smartEQ
for VST it's straight forward as the Keys are human-readable
for VST3 you'll find some ID-like keys e.g. {684535345-3GD3-7521-1D12F-3513513B73} on my machine.
Opening the key gives you a list of values.
One of them ('Name') gives you the plugin Name
Browse those keys until you find "smartEQ+"
- change the value of "UsedFixedBuffers" from 0 to 1
- close and re-open smartEQ and you should be done!"
Good luck, hope that helped! For me, all I had to do was the first method with fixed buffer sizes. There's a bit of delay while using the plugin, but hey, at least it's functional.

Still way less than zynaptic - see my comment above. Also, Freiraum's primary aim is to go beyond tradition EQs with a MB transient designer & a T+N separator bulitin.
