analogue saturation plug-in

For processing individual tracks, the plugin performs very well and it can add a bit of that nice tube like flavor to bass guitars, keyboards, even vocals when used in subtle amounts. It also works well for high gain distortion effects and you can further shape the sound character with the tone knob. The low cut filter is surprisingly transparent and it can work rather well for cleaning up the low end of individual tracks. I certainly didn’t expect to hear such a nice low cut filter and it would be cool to see a dedicated filter plugin from Audio Assault in the future!

I disagree with you on that. I think when it gets shared on AudioZ and the forums it reaches a larger crowd witch gives the company more exposure.. Also if the dev discontinues the product (or shuts down) and decides they want to remove the download links then having it available on AudioZ gives people the option to download it if they want to.

I respect your argumentation and see the validity in it but still, i stand by what i said.
To reach a larger crowd (using your words) mentioning the product in the Forum should be enough and is the correct method.
"Sharing" something that is already being freely shared by its creator is pointless. It floods a section of the website that, to my knowledge, is dedicated to sharing the products successfully "cracked" by independent developers.
Besides, this being a website dedicated to the Scene and where the work of Release Groups is shared i don't see the point in sharing software that didn't go through the Scene or a Release Group.

The Forum is there for something.
Laziness and not following common sense rules should not be a rule into itself.

Still, this is my opinion and i completely understand your point of view, though, i disagree.

I agree with the argumentation but i don't agree with "The Boss" if, in fact, he did ever say such a thing.
In fact, if he did, he went against the Audioz rules, posted there, on your left.

Sharing developer's new releases is one thing. It can be done in the Forum.
Sharing a Scene release is a different thing, and that is why the software section of Audioz came into being.

Sharing freeware and shareware not signed by a Release Group is the same as selling sausages in a candy store.

Just my opinion. No harm done, i guess.

My statement does not require any type of apology because i wrote "if".
It means a conditional statement.

This precludes any type of apology. It's an opinion, it's not beligerant and promotes the defense of the Scene and of the valuable work of Release Groups from wich, all of us, benefit.

Yes, but there are a few plugins, that vanished into oblivion, cause no one "archived" them on a wares site for future generations. And that is a shame.
I generally understand your point, cause I am old enough to know honorable scene times, but I think it is ok to share freeware here, so gems won't perish.
And Pirate does an incredible job to keep all the links up.
This site is a wonderful source for musicians this way.

I understand your view and your argument though, as i said in the post to wich you have replied: that is not the case.

The Freeware in question is still available.
The poster's intention is arguable.
It is not a Scene release and the software being shared is not signed by a Release Group.

It is, in my understanding, against the Forum rules (There < ...on the left) and a complete waste of Audioz's space.
The Forum is there for exactly this: share news and info about software.
It's not only a place where people talk about how much tape could warm up a sound.

And since you seem to remember and respect the Scene and the Release Groups i would expect you to not give up promoting that respect.

AudioZ is a repository for software whether free or paid. It is not a website dedicated to the scene as can be seen by the myriad assortment of releases that are not officially logged. I for one enjoy that I can get everything all in one place rather than having to run around to a billion sites. Yes this software exists on the developer's website now but that may not be the case later. If we wait until it doesn't exist to archive it then it can be a pain and might even get lost in the shuffle. I've also personally asked for a freeware section to be created but was told that all the software is free and so there is no distinction. I can see why that decision was made. Otherwise you couldn't filter by category across paid and free software subsections (Win, Mac, Kontakt, etc.)

The one thing I can say is that the developer's website MUST be included.

I think (as in: my oppinion) that AudioZ users should mention, praise, use and share freeware and shareware in appropriate sections.
I suggest the Forum that exists in this same website.

The sharing section of the website is, since its inception, directed at the Scene and to the sharing of software signed by Release Groups.
