Rob Papen BLUE II v1.0.0g-R2R screenshot
TEAM R2R 2015.02.08 | 147.42 MB
First released in 2005 BLUE already reflected Rob Papen’s cutting-edge, creative, and — most importantly — musical approach towards developing virtual instruments by first delivering FM and subtractive synthesis, then duly adding Phase Distortion and wave shaping synthesis into the highly creative mix to create one seriously creative combination.

Today BLUE-II remains true to that ethos with even more sound dimensions and features to its extended name, starting with six oscillators beating at its musically creative heart. These can be connected in various ways, together with two analogue-style modelled stereo filters with 27 different filter types, an enormous range of processing and modulation options, sequencer, and an incredibly powerful arpeggiator. A new range of specially selected waveforms based on samples have been meticulously fashioned for creating new and fresh-sounding synth sounds, so don’t go expecting acoustic pianos galore here. However, since choirs and strings are an excellent basis for so many synth sounds BLUE-II has them in abundance — with much more besides!

Moreover, BLUE-II takes the useful XY pad features from its popular virtual instrument sibling Blade — a cutting-edge additive synthesis powerhouse with a human touch — and transplants them into its own equally extraordinary workflow… perfect for time-based sound movements and vector pad-type sounds. Complemented by four top-quality FX processors, each offering 35 FX types, BLUE-II is a phenomenally powerful virtual instrument to behold.

But BLUE-II is also easy to use, thanks to its user-friendly user interface and an innovative Easy Edit page for speedy sound changes, while the Bank Manager allows whistle-stop navigation through thousands of inspirational Rob Papen presets and artist sound banks covering a wide range of musical styles.

BLUE-II represents an amazing journey into ‘Cross-fusion synthesis’ and, quite simply, sounds stunning!

Changelog:

Blue II 1.0.0g (PC & Mac)

The PC installer now installs banks, presets etc in a user selected folder (defaulting to documents\rob papen).
If you have any 3rd part or user created banks, presets etc you should move them into this new folder, otherwise they won't show up in the plugin.
Fixed problem with Cubase Mac right click menu.
Added new presets inside the Spheric Motion, Raven & Rauschwerk banks.
Other small fixes

NOTE:
The protection wastes your CPU resource :)

The update does NOT waste CPU resources, but the protection does. And since there's no protection here...

In the Info panel for the 64 bit version it says "32-bit". I don't know if that's just a small mistake on Rob Papen's part or some strange mishap on R2R's part. Does anyone else have this?

Everything seems to be working fine. I'm just wondering.

It's just because you are using Windows 98SE and there no 64 version of it

BTW if anyone doesn't know where I mean the info panel. Just click "blue II" in the top right of the synth. Still wondering whether other people have this.

You're probably right.

Thanks R2R for the awesome release! The Papen synths are awesome IMO. I would be curious to see someone who owns legit blue II compare the performance with R2R's release. Just to see if the protection has a noticeable affect on the performance of the synthesizer.

Ok, I downloaded this just to check what all the fuss is about.

Scanned with Webroot, Malwarebytes, Emsisoft, Comodo and SAS. The file is clean at least. I unzipped it down to the single 'Setup.exe' file.

What is the advantage over this compared to the paid for version?

I have the full paid for version, so not sure why I should install. Can someone point me to the info where it explains that this uses up more of your CPU?

I will test it, but not sure how much percentage of CPU we are talking about.

Thanks. This is a genuine question. I remember reading something about this before, but anyone who has the full paid for version, could you say this is worth installing?

Btw, I have to say, that even though Papen is an established long time player in the game, he is very humble and helpful, as are the rest of his team. They are also pretty generous with the freebies they give away.

I didn't sign up here to 'browbeat' people into buying software, and I'm not a shill for anyone. But it was part of my mission to say who the best developers were, and why they were worth buying from.

Rob Papen is up there with the best. I can only say, if you have the money at some point, then buy the software, because this beast can do everything. You can make entire tracks with it.

It would be easy for this company to behave like assholes, but they don't. In fact, they went out of their way to give me an upgrade, for lower cost. All it took was an email to them.

That's all I say on the subject. Rob Papen gets the ***** (five star) seal of approval from Softice, for quality, usability and service!

Glad to help.
