BTW, one of AiR's last releases (Waves 7) had a Proper re-release as well.

Right now ASSiGN is pretty much the only consistent group releasing things. If you don't want to use their releases, you can just stick with software from 2010 while the rest move forward.

The big difference between AiR and Assign is that AiR actually cracks/keygens whereas Assign, at least most of the time, merely patches.

And it goes without saying that there is a HUGE difference between actually cracking the protection in order to turn the product into a full version and merely patching away some demo limitation.

Some might call this difference the difference between a quality release and crap.

Others dont care as long as it works 'somehow'.

Neither group is totally wrong...

No, its not. And that was precisely my point.

If you crack the protection / provide a keygen then the soft works like a full version, meaning all the anti-piracy measures such as timebombs etc are being turned off.

If however you merely patch away some demo limitations then the anti-piracy measures, (some of them may be well hidden or difficult to recognize), are still in full effect.

In fact this very package (that from yesterday) seems to be the best example. Demo limitations patched away, timeout protection still active. Hence they had to release a 'working' today where this part of the protection has been taken into account...

i mean when u think how long we have air now(included all the former names) they are well trained - so quite a lot of experience in bypassing/ cracking and all the stuff. and compare assign to them - i think its ok when they do it in the way how they do this atm ;)
and i was always skeptically against assign but as i compared a few releases with the air ones i have to say they make a good job. and whats wrong on repack/ working releases?! when u look around in some other scenes like p2p - u got nothing repacked - so we should be happy! wink

REPACK, WORKiNG... also shows us that they take responsibility of their releases
And the best part is they're the only group so called "active" in audio scene these months
Maybe they still a little lack of skills, but skills can be improved by time

Some of their stuff is very good.

But i think thats more often than not just due to 'dumb-luck' than actual skill.

Ever since i had this Cross Delay release, which stopped working 4 weeks after release because there was a date-based timelimit in it, i cant get rid of the feeling that what Assign does is mostly 'patch and pray', because if they miss something cheap like a date-based expiry they just CANT have done too much testing.

I already said it on avax; i think they could be a decent team if they would just be a LITTLE more thorough in what they do...

ASSiGN has been releasing the latest versions of NI's stuff. That puts them in the ballpark with the big boys. Considering the fact that Dynamics hasn't done that lately, that says something.

As for keygens, there's been releases where keygens might give you a temporarily working serial number but then it timebombs later due to creative protection programming. (I think U-He's stuff did that at one point.)

If an ASSiGN release does timebomb later, ASSiGN also gives you their E-Mail address. Drop them a line and tell them about it, they'll probably have another go at it.

I don't really understand why some dumb-ass consistently moans and groans and complains about this or that reseale done by this or that Team.

They ALL try to offer something to us free of charge.

Sometimes useful stuff, sometimes not so much.. sometimes it works sometimes not so much, but it is still hard work for the releasing team and they ask nothing in return so why don't we just say THANK YOU for what we need/like/take and just ignore the rest?

More than half of the VSTs I use are Assign releases and everything works like a dream.

They have my full respect and my biggest thank you (AIR, DYNAMICS and every other Team included!)

I don't really understand the great fascination with this particular release. It just seems like re-branded Nomad product. It's not that it's bad or that there is anything wrong with it, but we pretty much already had this product in another form, yes??? Is there anything you can do with this that you couldn't do with already released Nomad stuff?
