Plugin Alliance Maag EQ4 MS v1.0.0 Incl Patched and Keygen-R2R screenshot
Team R2R | 09 Oct 2024 | 27.4MB
Control Mäag Audio’s flagship EQ and its AIR BAND® like never before

Overview
Mäag EQ4 M is a 6-band dual channel mastering EQ that counts Chris Lord-Alge (Greenday, Madonna, U2) and Tony Visconti (David Bowie, T. Rex, Esperanza Spalding) among its many fans. Now Brainworx, the masters of analog modeling, have finally transformed this renowned hardware into the Mäag EQ MS plugin.

Mäag EQ4 M “in the box”
Brainworx worked closely with the Mäag family on the Mäag EQ4 MS, to deliver the most accurate emulation of Mäag hardware ever. This unique design provides unparalleled transparency and top end presence while maintaining the true natural sound behind the signal or mix. Get even more flexibility with two optional center frequencies and bell-characteristics in lower bands.

Harness the AIR BAND®
No Mäag EQ would be complete without an exact recreation of Mäag’s trademark AIR BAND®. This is the ‘secret sauce’ of production giants David Reitzas, Dylan Dresdow, and Dave Pensado. The AIR BAND® brings smooth air frequencies to your top end without harshness. It works great on drums and instruments, but it really shines through on vocals. You can hear its sparkle on tracks from Celine Dion, Madonna, Justin Timberlake, and countless others.

The definitive Mäag EQ emulation
Nothing sounds more like the Mäag hardware, and nothing gives you more control over Mäag’s legendary AIR BAND®. Use it across your mix, on individual tracks, busses and stems, with a new level of control only possible in the digital realm. Brainworx has also added adjustable bands, monomaker, soft clipper and patented Brainworx TMT.

Beyond the hardware
Brainworx has also expanded the controls of the original hardware, achieving accurate stereo and m/s processing without compromising its exceptional sound quality. Push undesirable frequencies out of the limelight and bring hidden treasures to the fore, without compromising the range in the center of your acoustic field. Mäag EQ4 MS gives you more control over the stereo field than any previous Mäag plugin or hardware.

The original hardware “ Maag Audio EQ4M ” currently costs 2,895.00 €.

(R) Evolution: The analogue becomes digital and therefore affordable.

True, you can't really shoot your load across the knobs of an emulation, so there's that.

The keygen has been updated and R2R did not include info about putting license(s) on USB in case if you use it with legit PA plugins.

Is this not required now?

I used to put the legitimate ones on USB.

Yes, but is it or is it not required with the new keygen? No such thing as separating licenses is mentioned in this release?

I no longer use any plugins from this company.

Why is it so? Is it so because of PA or "by Native Instruments"? PA is just a group of developers. R2R does a good work for activation, no problems here IMHO.

The only reason to ever use plugin alliance plugins is if you have the subscription or bought into the "90% off" bullshit. Imo even $10 is too much for most of their plugins. Despite the free releases here, and after extensive (too much) plugin testing, I only have a handful of plugins that are actually useful. None of them by PA.

It's still good R2R gave the middle finger to their awful DRM. The witches put more dedication into cracking this software than the DSP devs & DRM devs ever did combined; because they're driven by passion, not profit.

That's a bit harsh, no?
Plugins like Black Box and The Oven are real gems in my opinion.
Kirchhoff, Maag EQs and Bettermakers are also great.

I know many big engineers love Black Box too, so it can't be that bad.

I personally enjoy some of the PA plugins too, but everyone has their own opinion and some people, especially here for some reason, have very strong opinions about plugins they get for free :)

Pay an engineer enough and they'll say how your specific plugin is "not like any other" or "my new secret weapon"
You can find use in anything, that doesn't mean everything is worth buying.

Word? Do tell.
Seriously man, Plugin Alliance are not devs—you have to know this much—but you telling me that none of the companies under the PA banner have solid developers behind them? You can't even give credit to NEOLD? Or you just breathing bandwagon smoke no real flame?
Also? Respect to R2R, but this "passion not profit" jab of yours doesn't connect. You're essentially heckling a business for trying to make money. I could dive into all the who-owns-who-owns-who, ending with some private equity crap (most people only despise capitalism if it isn't working for them,) which is where the whole industry is headed, but the point is, you can't shame a lion for being carnivorous, doesn't work like that, kid.

I think you're reading way too much into my post man. Your imagination is definitely par for the course for an audio engineer though. Cheers.

the low end section of Maag EQ4 is something. The Air is cool but the sub and low end bands are equally good and now they made it even better with more selection, and all other functions. All this at 1% of CPU, I'd say a good upgrade.

It's just strange that PA still not making the Mono-maker section linear phase for better Side channel filtering.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT (full report, lol) :

This plugin is okay but hear me out..

1. They didn't modeled anything new. They just picked all the curves from their previous modeling of 500 series of MAAG EQ2 and EQ4 (15 years ago ?) and combined it all into this plugin. Pretty much identical curves and behavior if you compensate the TMT +/- difference that is there by default.

2. Soft Clip is taken from "Soft Limit" function in MAAG Magnum-K plugin. Behavior and harmonics are identical.

3. The THD is the exact same one from those AMEK EQs and SPL PQ plugin. One single 3rd order harmonic. The one they added so those plugins won't be branded "It's a clean EQ, curve only without any harmonics" which clearly has less fans and can't really sell.

4. Everything in the bottom rack is Brainworx framework since 10 years ago. IN/OUT meter, Correlation Meter, TMT, Stereo Width, M/S, THD. 0 new meaningful improvement except.. the Auto-Gain, that one is new... but.. come on. 5 years late maybe ?

5. Top bar also 7-8 years old now, also Brainworx framework. All bx plugins have this.

So, these mfs basically sit with their laptops, just picking up stuff that's already in the Brainworx plugin coding template, import stuff from old project (MAAG's EQ + Magnum K) and come up with a new plugin that they can resell. They are milking this MAAG EQ4 to death, knowing it's their best selling plugin. What they didn't do :

1. Any single new hardware modeling. They lied. Logically the M version of EQ4 should have more or less same curve but yeah, they chose the shortcut route, skip the modeling and went with the assumption work.

2. Any new meaningful new function except the Auto Gain.. it's the only new thing.

The result is good plugin, usable, nothing wrong with it but this is how PA operates these days and we can't blame Dirk Ulrich no more. :(

and about the "AA cocaine Jade eq"? lol
I have both MAAG and Jade on a smile curve as last eq in mastering, and I AB both almost on every track I work. They win 50-50... 2 good tools

lately I've been liking Izotope Neutron EQ with "Linear" scale for high end, Air tuning. Try it. It will feel weird at first but you get a lot of range since 10kHz is in the middle, so get to cut down some harshness along the shelf, if you know what I mean. I think I saw Luca Protelesi use it and try it once, kinda like it. Epic for House track with a lot of shitty hihat.

something like this.

Interesting. Any EQs that you consider to be GOAT? There's so friggin many..
  Resident 29.11.2020 29 2906
+2924
GOAT ? cant say such thing exist in plugin world. I use a lot of them EQ plugins and I change stuff every months, to keep thing interesting. Had to or else I'll die of boredom just like that. You don't get good song everyday to mix. So, can't really say one GOAT EQ, I probably change my mind 3 minutes later.

I tested a lot of EQs so I developed this intuitive thingy where I know which one would work best for every situation, also it changes every weeks, plus those that already in the template. It's a mess.
  Resident 25.12.2017 6 2052

I'm the same way... kinda. I test a lot of plugins, but I'm not crazy with it; I'm never throwing things under twelve different microscopes in hermetically sealed rooms, but I'll give plugins a go in multiple reference mixes and/or while recording, and I usually do some basic PluginDoctor investigating in the time that I make to satisfy my curiosity. And I have quite a few EQs, not all of them ones I absolutely need, but different EQs compliment different line of thinking and workflow for particular situations and instruments and desired results.
