This handy tool allow you to check the signature of Windows FabFilter plugins VST/VST3/RTAS.

We still have people posting fake AV detections? Oh my Crom. Maybe there should be a rule to delete those because they just cause unnecessary panic. Most of us know they're fake and caused by heuristic AVs. Using Linux as my main OS for a decade now I forgot what an AV is... almost :) Damn, maybe I could get something on my Win and Mac laptops... naah. Not from here, anyway.

I actually use Windows and haven't used AV software in 10 years. It's all dogshit. Especially Windows Defender.

If you're intelligent about what you download and you keep good backups, for anyone downloading warez, AV software is more trouble than it's worth.

I don't think ruling out these comments about alleged trojan is the right way.
What if a release were infected, indeed?
The right way IMO is that you reply to that comment informing the newbie about the false detection. Even you can enter deeper in more details to educate the forum-mate if you wish.

It's because, the balance amongs the comments will convince the audience. Senior users with detailed answers will convince others more than newbies with short yell.

Other aspect is that other newbies can also run those AV software and see the same false alert. If you rule out these comments, it won't help them, either.

Agree. Sometimes some malware makes his way even with the authors being unable to prevent it. CCleaner case a few years ago at some point of their distribution chain.

Haven't happened to me with any stuff here that I can remember. But, we should remember we all have been beginners with computers and warez sites.

The one who post the false positive is not new here but neither very active. Best we can do is call out the false positive and the rest is up to the mods.

in short, YES.

In fact just does that, and I think is not meant for their (Team R2R) releases, but for other releases so users can check validity, in other words for us to appreciate how Team R2R is providing us with quality stuff.

I've just checked AUDIOWAREZ release and old TEAM VR releases, both failed with that check.

In other hand this thing shows us, how minimal RSA KEY patching is done by Team R2R and all is behaving as legit version. probably if they happen to have LEGIT serial product numbers and have nerves to calculate that they could make a legit keygen to work with official updates.

I try opening vst3 file in 2 different DAWs, and get cannot open file....anyone with real instructions?

It does work, you're just doing it wrong. It analyses the VST/VST3 files in your VSTPlugins/Common Files > VST3 folders. If you were meant to open the files in your DAW, the instructions would say to do that. Less haste, more speed.

I only have R2R installed with keygen, and never had problems, so sorry, but i don't get how to make it work or what it means to open a vst? How do you open a vst without a DAW? With plugindoctor?

Just open plugin DLL's not exe files!
Read the instructions, it is so simple written.
This tool will not affect your plugins functionality, in fact if you can not bare with this tool just forget it, it is not meant for you.

IMPORTANT NOTE TO ALL NEWBIE MEMBERS:
Plugins from TEAM R2R release don't depend from this tool....

problem is that it seems that for some users this tool just print an error on start... it's not a matter of following simple instructions... the thing just dont start for some of us... that's why we were asking more infos in the first place...

So you cant even open this tool, to run exe file?
1. Check your AV if not starts, disable it and then download it again... But in my case tested on 2 machines under Windows Defender and Kaspersky, no problem whatsoever.
If you have AVAST or other stupid AV, there is your answer.

2. Maybe error comes because you don't have VISUAL STUDIO repositories installed required for this tool to run.
3. Apart from that I have mentioned above there is not other logical explanation for your issue. The tool is 100% fine and secure.

i'm on defender too... tried everything but no luck... i'm not doubting the security at all, i know that the source is fully trustable... i'm wondering if it needs both VST2 and 3 to run properly... did you have both format installed?

Why do you need this tool so desperate?
This tool does not affect plugin functionality, it is just additional tool which is not mandatory to have.
Both VST and VST3 indtalled working perfect, but neither of them are related to this topic and this certain tool.
So, just leave it.
