If you're a serious composer, EastWest/Quantum Leap Hollywood Orchestral Percussion Diamond Edition is a must-have compositional tool. Utilizing unique repetition sim techniques and sophisticated 8-way round-robin implementation for an ultra-realistic performance, this phenomenal orchestral sample library will breathe new life into your arrangements. Do your compositions lack impact? Well, Hollywood Orchestral Percussion's meticulously recorded timpani and bass drums - including the Epic Bass Drum Ensemble and Mahler Hammer - give this library serious punch, while its massive array of snare drums, cymbals, chimes, celesta, and vintage field drums add those elusive accents that will glue your arrangements together.

Hollywood Orchestral Percussion also focuses on performance speed and offers specific samples that accommodate lightning-fast tempos. Find out why the major Hollywood composers rely on EastWest, and grab Hollywood Orchestral Percussion Diamond!

Multiple articulations and five mixable mic positions
Recorded in EastWest's famous Studio 1 (the birthplace of major Hollywood soundtracks and TV themes) by Grammy and Academy Award-winning scoring engineer Shawn Murphy, the 24-bit samples of EastWest Hollywood Percussion Diamond Edition are pristine and gloriously detailed, and the collection gives you unprecedented control over the expressiveness and sound of the instruments with up to five mixable mic positions and multiple articulations. Articulations include left-handed and right-handed hits using an array of mallets, and strikes on different parts of the instrument, such as edge shots, rim shots, and center shots. You'll also find a variety of performance techniques, such as flams and rolls.

Includes the custom PLAY interface
The EastWest Hollywood Percussion includes the custom PLAY advanced sample engine, designed to give you deep access to the sounds within. This 64-bit interface (with 32-bit support) lets you load multiple instruments, so you can easily craft custom split and layered setups that make it effortless to perform with multiple instruments and entire instrument sections. It also allows you to go really deep with your sounds, such as adjusting envelopes and the addition of various sample reproduction tools for tweaking your instruments to perfection.

Holy grail orchestral samples
For composers at Sweetwater, EastWest's Hollywood Orchestra series is truly a "desert-island" orchestral library, packed with holy grail samples that put the sound of Hollywood blockbusters right at your fingertips. The collection and its sections, which are available separately, have received critical acclaim from the music press, including Electronic Musician's Editor's Choice Award and Future Music's Platinum Award. These publications, and others, cite the samples' stunning detail, superior true legato, and overall sonic quality, as well as the amazing control you get with five mic positions, including the main Decca tree; mid, close, and surround mic arrays, as well as an alternate vintage 1945 RCA ribbon room mic. Bottom line, the Hollywood Orchestra series is a must-have compositional tool for the serious composer.

Great share but one comment. I have the Composer Cloud and I can tell you that the last version of the East West Hollywood Orchestral Percussion Diamond Edition for Opus is 1.0.7.

This version shared here, 1.0.2 only works with the Play Engine. The same goes for the Harp which was shared with version 1.0.0 while the latest Opus version is 1.0.5, as well as the Solo Violin and Solo Cellos. The Harp shared here is missing the HARP KS Master patch which is available ONLY on the latest updated Opus version.

In fact ALL the East West releases made available here are older versions, which work with the Play engine, and all of them require updates to make them compatible with Opus engine. And is not only about compatibility, but the newest versions have some new additions and bug fixes. So, long story short, what we have here is Hollywood Play version, not the latest Opus ones, unless in the future R2R will share the latest OPUS player and updates for all the shared libraries.

Anyway, thx for share!

Everything is opus nothing is opus. If the opus player is truly cracked and released, we can use that. Until then, it is play version. Libraries work in both.

This is not the Opus version but the old Hollywood orchestra for Play engine. Is not just a difference in sample players, Opus vs Play, is more than that.

For the Opus edition, the legato and all the scripts have been reworked, new recordings have been done and new instruments have been added, like the 18 first section violins for the strings, the woodwinds have been reworked to sound well because the Play Hollywood Woodwinds were very poor, see the Nick Phoenix vs Doug Rogers scandal and lawsuits. Basically, what has been posted on AudioZ is the legacy Hollywood orchestra, more than 10 years old, while the Opus Hollywood Orchestra is not just a new player, is the entire orchestra revamped, new recordings and patches added, all the scripts reworked, samples cleaned, bugs fixes, ram improvements etc. Although is based mostly on the original samples, the Opus Hollywood Orchestra is more or less a new product.

The old Play one, available here, is full of bugs, the woodwinds are subpar, and the overall workflow is clunky and more or less unstable, although the Play engine has received some updates and bug fixes over the years. But it ain't comparable to Opus, which is now regarded by many as the best sampler player on the market. I have the opus edition and I gotta say that the loading times are superb, faster than Kontakt, Spitfire or Sine players.

Can you tell us more about this?
Google doesn't seem to find much results..

Basically, Nick Phoenix and Thomas Bergersen, the Two Step from Hell Guys, did the recordings for the original Hollywood Woodwinds, but then EastWest had a scandal with Nick Phoenix, fired him, and they continued the project on their own, resulting in a subpar Woodwinds library, obviously weaker in quality when compared with the Hollywood Strings, Brass, Percussion etc. Nick and Thomas made a public statement about the Woodwinds project, available still on VI Kontrol here: https://vi-control.net/community/threads/nick-and-thomas-speak-about-woodwinds.27072/ . Later, Nick Phoenix sued EastWest for being fired for no good reason. Unfortunately, Nick's son was killed in a horrific car accident, and then Doug Rogers from EastWest got into a settlement with Nick Phoenix and got him back to EastWest where they worked on new projects, one of them being the Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition, which has new string patches, new scripts, new woodwind scripting, editing, and new instruments etc.

Interesting..
So the Woodwinds didn't get fixed until they were updated/reworked for Opus?
Or they got fixed when Nick/Thomas reincorporated?

Also Strange case..
If Nick was the engineer/producer of the libraries,
it makes no sense to fire/sue him for using them to make actual music..
Yes there may be an NFR agreement/whatever, but it's only some libraries..
if the guy makes good music with those libraries (like Thousands of other users), that is good Promo for EastWest.. no?

Good that they could settle and bury the hatchet tho..

The Woodwinds were fixed and new instruments and patches were added when the Hollywood Opus Orchestra was released in 2021. Now the woodwinds are fine, not on a level with Berlin Woodwinds in my opinion, but still pretty good. As I said, with the release of the Opus edition, ALL the orchestra was revamped, new legato and other scripts have been added, new patches and new instruments incorporated, is basically Albion One vs Albion 1 Legacy, if you like this comparison. Now Nick Phoenix is back at East West and will work this fall on new recordings for Hollywood Orchestra Opus and other new projects, like the Forbidden Planet synth, which is in the works for more than 10 years.

Sorry to ask but you seem very aware: When is usually the $500 Hollywood orchestra promotion ? thanks

The last one ended a week ago. It was 500$ + VAT, and now I see on their website is 795$ + VAT. You need to check from time to time, they make some discounts. 500$ is worth, but 995$ which is the full price not so much. Let's see in 2023 what Nick Phoenix adds to it. The Hollywood strings are still good, lush and silky, and I think before the release of CSS they were some of the best on the market. The brass is also pretty good, far better than anything Spitfire offers. The woodwinds are good, better than Cinewinds, but weaker than CSW and Berlin Woodwinds which are the best in my opinion. The percussion is decent, good for orchestral, although I like more the tubular Bells from the old East West Symphonic Orchestra than those available in the Hollywood one. At 500$ if you get it on Black Friday is a no brainer, is basically a full orchestra and the IR's available in OPUS player are most of those from Spaces 2, which separately costs 300$. So, just keep on refreshing once per week their website until they made a discount again.
