Wow, great! I use the Oscilloz, it's really an awesome tool (some kind of an advanced multiband S(M)exoscope). Was eager to try the Redverb and its Position control, but was too much of an invesment for me.
So thanks a lot TeamVR & Mordi!

Thank you VR for liberating the reverb. It's been free for a while I think, but the DRM ticked me off just a bit too much.

Audio BetaBugs or Ben/Schulz ?? That's the question here...

  Resident 2.02.2014 1 2536
+1406
Ben/Schulz Audio just renamed from Audio BetaBugs couple years ago (because of another brand called betabugs, which too make plugins).

Like Ummet Ozcan (with his very very very old first Genesis) renamed to Oz-Soft (with his brand-new Genesis Pro).

Or Vladg/sound joined TDR and now it is TDR (only Feedback Compressor I and II done by Fabien Shivre only without Vlad Goncharov, other plugins are done by both programmers, and with Jan Ohlhorst (SlickEQ-M; by the way OD DeEdger done by Jan Ohlhorst but with TDR framework/extra code (menu, settings, toolbars)), and in SlickEQ free/GE in collab with VarietyOfSound).

Another example: Jeroen Breebaart renamed to Toneboosters. But many Jeroen's old plugins are old discontinued high-quality plugins... Like many old/free plugins by Toneboosters... Recently few plugins were added and updated and re-released again (EZQ, Broadcast).

Exponential Audio plugins are re-releases under iZotope/Exponential Audio brand.

Eioisis is Fabrice Gabriel, a main developer of Slate Digital. So, if you see Slate Digital or Eiosis plugins, they are all done by Fabrice Gabriel mostly, just Steven Slate and other team-mates are just "concept, idea, extra code, assistance, beta-testing, coffee-makers, promotion, support/help, website creators".

Reimund Dratwa = Fuse Audio Labs. He did most of coding and DSP for Black Rooster Audio (except Canary, Edelweiss'72) and Plugin Alliance stuff (brainworx, SPL, elysia, Black-Box and many of others).

Dave Gamble = DMG Audio. Did some stuff for Sonalksis, Brainworx, Focusrite etc.

Babelson Audio is from Waves.

You can see a lot other standalone developers from Arturia (NoiseAsh as I remember), Waves, Audified (re-releases some stuff under Slate Digital's brand; also Royal Compressor by United Plugins: Soundevice Digital, for example). All United Plugins use Meldaproduction frameworks.SSL Duende X-EQ are done with/by Algorithmix=MAAT guys.

In some "about" windows you may see Boz Digital Labs, AudioThings collaborators....

Tone Empire = Beatskillz.

JD Young is a person behind SoundSpot, Denise.Audio, BABY AUDIO, Noiz-Lab.

Want more? There is a lot of examples. Even you may see that one developer created shitty bad plugins for one brand, but super mastering grade for another, but both are identical.
Focusrite all "EQ/Compressor" bundles (Red, Sapphire, Scarlett etc) are the same, but different names and GUIs. They even null at null tests. Same coding, same dsp, different GUIs, different names. Focusrite plugins = Novation plugins.

Brainworx (Plugin Alliance) bx_meter = old Pleasurize Music Foundation's Dynamic Range Meter (by Algorithmix/Brainworx/TT (Tischmeyer Technologies) = MAAT with their updated new re-release of DRMeter).

If you analyse ABOUT windows, developers, you will notice that they are mostly same developers under another brands, or collabs, or re-release under another name/GUI/framework and much more...

Do you remember digitalfishphones and their fishfillets bundle a-la SPITFISH deesser, FLOORFISH, BLOCKFISH, DOMINION etc? Something reminds me he was a (co-)developer from MAGIX and now works or worked with u-he (with Urs Heckmann).

reFX, Vengeance?

Kush Audio, ubk, Sly-Fi, A-Designs.......

Paul Frindle (Plugin Alliance: Pro Audio DSM; Sonnox Oxford)

Andy (Cytomic (The Glue, The Drop etc), like other developers, coders, programmers, sound-designers were involved in creation of xfer SERUM. Oversampling algos, filters etc. For example.

Justin Frankel = Winamp (Nullsoft) created with Dmitry Boldyrev and others = Cockos REAPER.

Robin Schult worked with Fuse Audio Labs (recent RS-W2395c eq), and MAAT (RSPhaseShifter).

Bootsie (or Bootsy) became Variety Of Sound.

ISM, Infected Mushroom which are the same who worked with Waves, Ploytec, Hamburg-audio Nuklear vsti,... WAVES - how many developers are there, engineers, musicians, producers, mastering/mixing/recording guys..... PLUGIN ALLIANCE who recode famous brands' algos into their hyped vsts, and buys all these brands (AMEK recently and many others), Wolfgang Palm with his PPG synths (Remember waldorf ppg stuff? Now PA! Coming soon), knif, dangerous audio, spl, elysia aaaaarrrrggh, .. All this Universal audio shit as well.

OB-Xd oberheim synth free emulation made by one guy, now discoDSP updated this and sell it.

Twelve Tone Systems released Cakewalk DAW.... Lately it became Sonar by Cakewalk.. .. Plus all these mess about Roland/Cakewalk/rgc:audio..... Now Cakewalk by BandLab....

Emagic Logic now by Apple. Bitwig Studio guys from Ableton team. Syntrillium Cool Edit Pro became Adobe Audition. Ardour and lately Harrison Mixbus. Digidesign, AVID, ProTools, M-Audio....

Elemental Audio = Roger Nichols' RNDigital =Axis Plugins partly.

Steinberg plugins, reworks and collabs.... Yamaha for example...

Most main algos of VST plugins, DAWs are mostly done by 1-2 coders (SoX SRC in many DAWs, editors, players; classic dithering and noise-shaping algos etc). Lukin's MBIT+ dithering and other coding and DSP for iZotope stuff (Ozone, RX etc). Libs, frameworks etc.

Billions of other examples I don't know/remember.... I think that there are 40-50 hyped developers and they all may work under another brands or collab with others under another brands. Billions of hyped rebranded same-guys. Other discontinued stuff are either old or one-plugin underrated teams...and maybe they are in other hyped brands or have another job/occupation/profession... They are all interconnected, work together, rebrand, etc etc etc....

Edit: i don't remember what company, probably Pulsar Audio is from Arturia

Info about Ben/Schulz and his Ozcillos Mega Scope and Spectrum.

https://bedroomproducersblog.com/2017/05/24/benschulz-spectrum/

Just saw year ago about renaming/rebranding. Imho Ben/Schulz = Audio BetaBugs. (i dont know the history behind that, but maybe it is because of BetaBugs Audio, another brand messing, but same naming, another order of words)

Found email!

betabugs is now BEN/SCHULZ Audio
Hi,

I decided to move all audio related plugins and tools to a new home. This is to avoid confusion with another company called betabugs that also produces audio plugins.

I also used the opportunity to give the website a fresh new look. Also the 64bit update for Oszillos Mega Scope is finally ready.

When you first registered to participate in our beta program, you did not set a password for your account. You have to use the password reset form to generate a new one. A password is required to download new versions of Oszillos Mega Scope.

I'm not going to send you tons of emails. Only occasionally. There are currently two Newsletter lists: BEN/SCHULZ Audio News is meant for announcements of new audio plugins and tools. I'll try to bundle updates, to keep the noise down.

BEN/SCHULZ Audio Critical is meant for important notifications that require you to take action (like resetting a password). All users that create an account with BEN/SCHULZ Audio automatically subscribe to that list. The other one is optional. But if you don't want to be updated on important issues, feel free to unsubscribe.

Thanks & Best,
Ben

Hey, didn't know these dev, and these plugins.
Wow, we check their products, a spectrum analyser for 50 bucks, I say 'cool, this dev charges very little, for his plugins'...
And suddenly, bam, redverb v2 reverb, at almost 300 bucks.
Is this reverb so exceptional , to deserve such price tag ?

One thing is sure, the spectrum analyzer looks really cool. The multi track view looks like the Mmelda analyser.

Has anyone tried this V.R release ?
Is it well cracked, without bombs, etc ? (Challenge- response and server authentication stuff are often quite difficult to crack, I guess)

Thanks V.R for letting us discover these plugins.

glad to see more devs working with opensource. linux may not be a solution for audio production (yet), but there are some significant advantages with it as far as open source, like speed batch, and being uncluttered for the purpose. thanks Mordi and VR for showing us a looksee

edit: nvm, when i follow the commits for json it looks like it hasnt had any work since 2018, ashame, might not even be compatible with new kernel or distros

Very interesting post ! Thanks a lot
If you have the same info on UAD and its network of devs it would be my pleasure to read about it.

hi yabiss, well i dont know UAD i've only gotten (back) into linux. some dev's like u-he are completely working and supported. u-he even answered linux questions today on kvr. but what they have is coders who can write. others often rely on the network, and get others to 'commit' a change or fix.
im not sure how UAD does it. probably with a paycheck like u-he lol
