Native Instruments Massive X v1.1.0 CE-V.R screenshot
Team V.R | 01 November 2019 | 848 MB
Massive X is Native Instruments’ new flagship synth, built by the same team as its predecessor. Based on a state of the art architecture, it delivers pristine sound, and huge creative flexibility for artists and sound designers alike – allowing them to create, modulate, and experiment with sound from a huge range of sources, in any way they like.

1.1.0 — 2019-10-31

MASSIVE X is only available as AAX, AU, VST Plug-ins in this version. MASSIVE X requires an AVX compatible CPU to install and run. The MASSIVE X Factory Library is a separate installation, be sure to install via NATIVE ACCESS.
ADDED Exciter, Amp and Mod Envelope displays reflect their actual state and respond to user input
ADDED UI Themes (Default, Dark, Light, Flat Default, Flat Dark, Flat Light). The flat themes increase compatibility with older graphic cards
ADDED New factory presets now have a separate section / type in Browser
ADDED Rise/Fall parameter in both LFO Switcher and LFO Random Envelope displays the actual parameter state and responds to user input
ADDED Grid labels to the Tracker
ADDED Full manual available as a download
FIXED Preset name is now saved with host project
FIXED Loading Massive X on systems with Intel integrated graphics (HD 3000, and other older cards) should not crash the host anymore
FIXED Clicking Previous/Next Preset in Massive X UI, when there are no user presets saved, does not crash the host anymore
FIXED AfterTouch (AT) and PitchBend (PB) labels and 1:1 assignments are now correctly saved and recalled with preset
FIXED Initialising Uni/Bi in Tracker now resets both the offsets and the curve
FIXED Unit FX display page changing when new Insert FX page is selected
FIXED Basic/Custom menu state in Performer is now correctly saved and recalled with presets
KNOWN ISSUE FL Studio 20 VST: when loading a preset the interface will shrink. Fix: close and open interface
KNOWN ISSUE Cubase and Studio One: text input does not work correctly when Massive X is hosted in Komplete Kontrol or Maschine KPI view
KNOWN ISSUE Logic 10.4.5, Ableton Live 10: using the freeze function may result in incorrectly rendered audio - save your project before freezing the track
KNOWN ISSUE In some cases the INIT presets are not loading in Pro Tools. Loading the Massive X plug-in within Komplete Kontrol is a potential workaround

Thanks but a bad synth from a great developer, manufacturer, and supplier of music software.

What's "bad" about it? Could you please elaborate? I hate when people declare some product or service unsuitable for downloading and using but won't say WHY. It should be ILLEGAL and punishable as SLANDER or LIBEL even though such charges would have questionable legitimacy HERE, of course.

Here's what I didn't like. Or what's worse than the original Massive.

- no backwards compatibility. Okay, that's a pity, but it's understandable.
- Six unison voices, tops. Yeah. Six. No independent unison voices settings. No independent stereo spread. No independent freerun or restart - only for the whole patch. The original Massive allowed 16. Damn.
- No animations during playback. Modulations, wavetable transformations, wave bending are all not animated. Levels on master output are literally the only thing moving.
- It's not a modular synth, and the FAQ says as much. The routing is there, but you're not adding modules, you're basically just turning them off if you want to, and you can kinda route the signal around.
- You can't add your own wavetables.
- You can't add custom noises.
- ADSRs do not change their shape visually. Sounds crazy, but it's true. They don't. You're presented with a little "legend" that explains what attack is and so forth, but they stay the same, you can't actually see what you're doing. To draw anything, you have to use a performer. There are only three of them.
- There's no multiband compressor. Sorry, there's no compressor at all. Util and Nonlinear Lab effects (that's a fun name, though) boast something to that effect, but they don't explain much. Besides, NNL is I think just a waveshaper.
- You could randomize things in the original Massive. In Massive X, you can't.
- While you're picking your wavetable, you can't see its contents - the list blocks it. There's no "next" button, either. Once you've done selecting, you can see the waveform.
- If your LFO modulates a bunch of parameters, you can't mute one of them -- only all at once.
- There's no preset tags or folder browser anymore - just a list with categories. No more fancy keywords like we had before.
- I couldn't find a proper way to modulate levels after distortion. Master output is not modulatable, Amp section is only before a distortion, and you can't really route around that. I feel baffled by that.

in conclusion, It feels like they just released a half finished synth with a pretty skin hoping the name "massive" will be enough to sell a bunch of units (which it appears to have worked for the most part). Unless this synth sounds absolutely breathtaking (aka better than diva or arturias analog modeled offerings) there is basically nothing massive x offers that isnt already done better by other synths. Correct me if im wrong but i really dont see anything here worth the pricetag, or even the effort of downloading a demo and wasting time experimenting.

Well that just sounds terrible... How will we ever make music again without all this essential functionality...

This synth is just an awesome plugin, nice sounding, has uncommon features and incredible modulations.

If you don't make awesome music with this synth, blame yourself instead.

Please open your eyes and your ears, stop crying for envelopes not moving or lack of preset tags, come on boy...

Yep it wasn't their goal to replicate original Massive with some improvements as I think it was already as good as it was gonna get, but create something uniquely different. I think we all agree that it was 'unfinished' on release but it sounds amazing to me and with these updates coming through to iron out initial deficiencies will be even better.

ADSRs do not change their shape visually. Sounds crazy, but it's true.

Wrong! The envelopes and Switcher LFO ARE now dynamic..

..and the rest of your list is just chasing a synth that would have it all. There is no such thing. And there is also a balance between throwing in an oscilloscope or other eye candies in (like u-he does it) and then eating all of the CPU w/ a couple of instances.

Synths that are considered "great" by Pro sound designers (e.g. Spire) don't have any dynamic display or wavetable import and cost about the same. IMO, we don't need yet another "same but somewhat better" synth - this one will push you to create new, fresh sounds.

I'm not even a big fan of NI (although I own a lot of their stuff) and I thought they wont develop X after the initial "disappointment", but now I like where they are going with it.. and for most of us it was free.

..oh you didn't care to DL the demo or crack, before complaining. Way to go!

Aesop Illegal? Really? I suppose it's a joke.

But I agree that comments judging a material posted without any arguments are only useful for the ego of the one who comment...

a new update of a soft synth which sound quality in top class and required expensive computer to running big project, and that messed up my user preset folder again, the vsti cannot recognize the presets by folder, I like new skins, but the circle looking worse, my problem?

Surprising commercial strategy ...

It's a known and outrageaous limitation. This does NOT motivate devs to produce presets banks to say the least.

Thanks for letting us know WHAT issues you're having. If you're running "big projects" then you should probably have a POWERFUL computer for sure. The word "expensive" is relative and a $1000 self-built pc tower compared to what you will get in a tower from Mac for the same amount($1000) would prove what I'm talking about.

Are you saying that the vsti cannot recognize the legitimate user preset folder OR sub-folders WITHIN the legitimate user preset folder? And what do you mean by "the circle is looking worse"? WHAT circle?

Thanks again for your comment.

Given these flaws, I'm still considering version 1.1.0 as a beta version... Tells a lot about NI marketing strategy!!!

No way I'm giving my hard-earned little money to them, so thanks a lot Team VR & Sunny to let us fully try an "under-construction" synth selled 200dollars!

Yesterday I saw on a website that Zynaptiq Intensity's normal price is 369€ in Europe.

So when I see a beast like Massive X sold 200€,I don't find it outrageously overpriced.(but too expensive for me,I admitt)

Its direct competitor is Serum which is 180€ if I remember correctly.

Very nice synth... It will take time to resolve bugs and make it more user friendly. I like the sound. But I dont like the cpu usage.
