If done correctly would the program still say it needs to be unlocked? Or will it stay locked but still be able to be used?

Tried the last link but it's still locked.

Then I found this:

Open elevated command prompt at Synthesia folder and run this command to block on firewall:
netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="Block Synthesia" dir=out action=block program="%cd%Synthesia.exe"
Otherwise you will lose license after first run.

Many thanks, it solved the issue.
The crack did not work and this firewall rule was not mentioned in the readme either.
Readme should go like this.
1. Install, don't launch.
2. Replace Synthesia.exe from Crack folder. Delete the Synthesia desktop shortcut, create a new one after replacing from the crack. !!
3. Copy "Synthesia" folder containing settings.xml to the %APPDATA% folder
4. Block Synthesia.exe in firewall
