Arturia 3 Compressors v1.0.0-R2R screenshot
Team R2R | April 03 2019 | 422 MB
The sound of big studio hardware
reborn as software effects

Let’s face it, there are hundreds of software effects out there. You don’t have the time or the budget to try them all out and find the ones you like.

The team at Arturia felt the same way. We wanted to make things simpler, so we could spend more time making music, and less time auditioning dozens of effects. 3 Compressors You’ll Actually Use features - you’ve guessed it - a trio of legendary compressors recreated as software through physical modelling. In the same way the biggest studios and record artists relied on these compressors to achieve their signature sounds, they will become your go-to choice for shaping the dynamics and adding character to your music.

Iconic tone, unique abilities, and 21st century features you’ll come back to time and time again.

thank you .
i'm a very picky compressor junkie and all i can say is wow. spent an hour on the 76,lovely warmth. in a plugin? how the f*ck they do that? anyways,
the level of realism is getting brutal. time to forget waves/ik/uad , this is that good...

looking forward to hear other comp-junkies words on these. 10/10

what do you advise us that would be better ?

not only they master the software side, but also the hardware. in this all-in-the-box era, with hundreds of plugin companies, you need to have a huge pair of balls, to dare releasing a huge synth like the brute series...

give arturia 10 or 20 millions €, to hire a few dozens employees, and in one year, arturia will be at the same level as a native instruments or waves.

they have the technology, the patents, everything...they can become really really huge.
everything they touch, they get close to perfection.
they make a wavetable vst instrument, the pigments, and it destroys everything, from serum to all the others.

my favorite audio company, for sure.

Don't forget the cost... They regularly have sales and are actually affordable. All 9 (3xpre-amp,filter,comp) so far for $199.

I've bought their Analog Lab and Piano V, use them on a regular basis, regret neither purchase.

Lol Waves not even close to NI, never was and never will be. It's really funny how they managed to fool so many people about their Q-ty and scale.

Ok, these compressors sounds good, it's a fact.
Also, Pigments is a nice synth (a bit cold sounding for my taste... but lesser than Serum - which I hate).
But, frankly, we can't compare Arturia's eyes catcher softsynths to, let's say, u-he's pure gems.
Listen to their Minimoog emulation, then compare it to The Legend, Monark or Minimonsta and... fall of your chair laughing.
Don't even compare their Jupiter 8 to the Roland Cloud's one or you will die... vomiting your intestines.
C'est mon avis et je le partage.

Hmmm. That video is a bit naughty, it uses subjective changes in loudness between bypass and engaged modes. That always sounds better. Makes you wonder why they coiuldn't use equal lodness and be honest.

Just sayin.

Hmmm 3 compressors = 422MB *RAR*. This is really getting out of hand. It's completely ridiculous. Maybe they should make GUIless versions for those who don't care about hardware lookalike GUIs? Then we could have 3MB for 3 plugins downloads again, plugins that load in a microsecond with 100 instances, and use tons less CPU and RAM.

I know, I know... I'm bitching about them, even when I can have them for free. That's even more worrisome, isn't it? When will that insanity end? I hate it when my projects take a minute to load even with an SSD! The sloppiness of today's programmers is getting completely out of hand. Oh well, working in Photoshop is certainly more fun than programming DSP code, eh? Insane.

I enjoy nice GUIs, especially the look-a-likes, but it *is starting to get crazy; they really are just icing on the cake. I don't remember what company it was (it could be one of many nowadays,) but someone basically tore open some plugins a while back that had fancy GUIs and it was literally 90% of their size.
(Commenting on this is saying something since this is actually less of a problem for me, someone who actually weeds out plugins after a couple months if I think that they aren't on par with other, similar ones. )

What bugs me the most is that loading projects with dozens of instances of such plugins takes so much time to load. I want them to load within seconds, not minutes.

There are really nice hardware lookalike plugins that work great and use a lot of graphics, but not insanely so. e.g. Klanghelm. I suppose Arturia uses convolution/samples, so those use up a nice chunk of the code, too.

Having said that, since there are many controls, I would appreciate a simplified vector GUI like Valhalla plugins in cases like this.

Yeah, I set aside tracks for a while and come back to some of them weeks later, often comparing what I've done in multiple other tracks, as per settings, in other projects, so, yeah, load time is definitely something that I take into account.
Or, maybe, I've just gotten spoiled from using a lot of Voxengo, PSP, Fuse/Black Rooster, etc. that have acceptable load times. Haha, considering how many companies are disregarding size/CPU usage, I was surprised when Kazrog came out with True Iron and it wasn't 300MB of CPU killing madness.
I gotta try these compressors out though, especially since the demo *is savagely skewed with the bypassed mode being about 67db quieter.

if you notice the file footprint for arturia installs these days - they're some of the worst... hundreds if not thousands of individual pngs for each plugin(pngs to compensate each and every size you can make the gui too) - and on win7 i noticed as of the last several updates ago that their gui's now hang sporadicly for a moment every 10 seconds or so - this hang also causes ableton and other plugins to hang too. even when arturias aren't open. i have to wrap arturia plugins with jbridge just to bypass this stupid side effect. i like the look of their guis and their shit sounds amazing but i think the way they are coding them now(use vectors instead of pngs guys!) is terrible and bloated.

Yep, one pixel = one PNG = the genious idea from Arturia...
Also Presets/db.db3 (shared database file for ALL Arturia plugins), sometimes this crap is corrupted, and some plugins have "Default" preset and nothing else!

The only compressors I use are ones that have zero or low lantency. Don’t color the sound too much. Light on cpu. If the compressor doesn’t have that along with clean sound I don’t use at all. We have over 100 compressors. I wonder if these 3 are good enough to use all the time. We’ll see about that.

Well, I bet you're part of those engineers/audiophiles who was fighting for decades against "noise", "color", "distortion"... and all these flaws of analog's days.

Today as digital technology finally gives us the holly grail of sound purity, it is so trendy to rot it.
Go figure...
